I don’t normally write reviews, but I feel that maybe if I tell my story, other people will avoid a situation that my husband and I had to go through. Today marks the day, 8 years ago, that we stepped into Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists in Dennis, and every single day I regret that decision. This place took advantage of two young, inexperienced kids who were just trying to desperately help their beloved cat. Our normal vet was closed, and our cat was having some urinary problems, this had happened before and it was an easy fix with some medication. We brought our sick baby in and they sat us down, and very bluntly told us that there was nothing that they could do, and he could die if we would have waited until Monday to see our normal vet in Brewster. Scared, nervous, and emotionally a wreck, we asked if there was any other options. They said we could elect to have a $6,400 surgery to make his genitalia bigger for the urine to pass easier, or we could euthanize. We refused to euthanize, knowing that this had happened before and that it was a very cheap and very simple fix, along with his medicated diet. Then, after a few hours of tears, the vet tech mentioned that we could surrender the cat to them, and they could elect whether or not to do the surgery, however all of this would cost money. She said most likely they would not do the surgery, and he would be euthanized alone, by himself, confused and without his family, or they might decide to do the surgery and put him up for adoption, but the only stipulation is we would never know the outcome. They would never tell us what happened, what they would do, or if they would even do the surgery. Being in our late teens, with no savings, my now husband held me and we both cried, having no other options given to us. We decided to air on the side of hope, and pray that they decided to give him the surgery. The following Monday we called our normal vet to let them know the situation and they were completely dumbfounded. They told us that what Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists offered was outrageous and that we very well could have waited until Monday to see our normal vet. We never found out what happened with Ozzie, and to this day when March 13th comes around the corner every year our chests get tight thinking of what happened. Now, we are a strong successful happy family, but not a day goes by that this entire situation haunts us. I urge everyone who is reading this to avoid Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists like the plague. They handled a very delicate situation poorly, and took advantage of two young kids trying to save their beloved cat. I can’t bear to think of our sweet furbaby being euthanized without us, not knowing what is going on or where his family is. These people are cold hearted and manipulating, I wish with every fiber of my being we could go back in time and wait to see our normal vet. I can only hope and pray that they have since changed their ways, but I would never step foot in this place to see. My heart goes out to all the furry friends who have perished and lost their families due to their practices, it is all about the money for these people, not about the pets or their families.

Our dog, Sam, was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma and needed to be put down to be relieved of his pain. My family needed to find a vet that was open on Sundays so that we could all be present to say good-bye to Sam and be with him to the end. We almost didnt come to this vet because of the reviews, however, I am so glad we did. Everyone here was compassionate and professional. The doctor had a comforting bedside manner and patiently explained every step to us. Everyone in the office was sensitive and caring during this difficult time for our family. They provided us with a small white coffin, as we took Sam home to be buried. They also gave us a clay paw print and sent us a thoughtful card in the days following. As far as cost, it was around $10 more than my vet planned to charge us which we felt was reasonable since we were able to take care of a difficult task when all family members could be available. Thank you Cape Cod Veterninary Specialists for helping us through this difficult day.

We drove here at 7pm to have our dog x- rayed because our vet did not have a big enough machine our dog is a 200lbs St. Bernard. We got there the place was empty and we were left waiting in the waiting room with our dog for over an hour finally we just left and went to Boston. Thankfully he was fine just probably got into something in the yard that was making him sick but seriously if you are sent here on suspicion that your dog has a blockage you would think they would move faster. We will never go back. After reading other reviews so glad we left because we would have paid crazy money for a simple x-ray. Horrible service horrible attitude the lady at the front desk was sighing every time the phone wrang it was interrupting her iPhone session.

This hospital and its staff and veterinarians saved our cats life! He was in icu for days and finally was able to have the operation he needed I was so comfortable knowing how well Morrissey was taken care. He got plenty of loving from all Despite the fact that we had pet insurance with TRUPANION who denied the claim!! I will deal with the insurance company in court But the hospital and its staff could not have been more wonderful It has gotten to be very expensive with morrissey in the hospital for a week But I would not have done it any differently They could not have been better with my whole family Thank you from the Delaneys

I just spent 2.5 hours on Memorial Day in their waiting room with my dog, who has a urinary tract infection. Easy diagnosis and treatment. My invoice was $480!!! Ask for pricing on EVERYTHING they propose to do and go someplace else unless you simply have no other options. Or you have trouble finding other ways to spend your money. Staff was friendly and courteous but no amount of courtesy justifies that kind of price tag for something as easy as a UTI.

Support staff wonderful. Vet was awful - had to interrupt the Dr to tell them to get to the point - was my dog sick or REALLY sick. Was given questionable info that other vets have refuted. My home care instructions were missing one of the drugs and had to be reprinted (another 15 minute wait). In the event of another emergency will check to see who the Vet is and travel to 24h center in Bourne just to avoid this vet.

Unless you are in a severe emergency and cannot make it off Cape to one of the other emergency hospitals you have to know that their pricing is outrageous. Unconscionable I would go so far as to say. And unlike other emergency hospitals in the state of MA (and we have dealt with most of them) they DO NOT offer a rescue discount to charity organizations trying to save animals.

Came here for a quick checkup for my dog and ended up with a 2 and a half hour wait from getting in to leaving and the bill was outrageous. avoid this vet at all costs if you care about your schedule or your wallet.
