My insurance had us change to this place about a year ago. We are never able to get an appointment and if you are lucky to find an opening it’s about two weeks away. The nursing staff there has no clue how to do anything. I went from being 5’ 8” to measuring in at 5’ 1 ½” and the nurse who we saw after had our vitals taken had no clue how to even look at the from or why I even had an appointment even though it was written on the paper in front of her. We never saw a real doctor (even though we requested one multiple times). We get stuck with residents. Which I do not mind but when they have no clue what is going on and you ask them to bring in the doctor and they leave you sitting there for an hour and come back without being able to find anyone to talk to is completely unprofessional. After leaving I contacted my insurance and asked if they knew they had sent me to a place with no doctor working at it. They said every time I go in I should see Dr. Florence. She is the doctor who is paid to see us and if she has residents working for her she still has to see us before she can write off on any of our medical records. I went back for another appointment since I was unable to get any help the first time I had gone in. Still Dr Florence was no wear to be found. Then to make matters worse my husband had an appointment a few days after mine and the nurse told him all about my appointment without him even asking for any information. She asked if we had been related because of the last name. This is illegal for them to disclose any patient information. Then we received a bill in the mail because there billing department made up some insurance number and tried to make a claim and it got rejected. I had to go in three times before the billing department got it correct. After giving up on the doctor office and not going there for anything for about 9 months. I got sick and needed an appointment. I was told I would not be able to come in for over a week and if I was really sick to go to the ER. After speaking with my insurance I was told since the doctor office had no openings to have them write a referral for a walk in clinic or urgent care. I was told by the rude lady on the phone they do not do that type of thing and I can wait for an appointment over a week away or go to the ER and was hung up on.

Family First is a resident clinic for residents from Maclaren Macomb medical center. Sometimes its difficult to get in due to the training schedule for the residents. Patients are informed on their first visit that this is a resident clinic sometimes this is not suitable for some clientelle. The good thing about a resident clinic is that more time is spent with the patients than at most doctors offices. There are many patients who have been coming to the office for years who prefer to see residents because they know theyre getting the opinion of a resident physician and a teaching physician at each visit. All of the teaching physicians, including Dr Florence, are involved in patient care even when they dont actually need to go into the room at the time of the visit. Teaching physicians are not required to see patients with simple or minor illnesses, however they do review all cases with the residents.

Im a pretty understanding person. Also I dont complain much but this is the most unprofessional place ever. As a new patient my appointment was at 10:30am I arrived at 10:28am I got a reminder email with no address nothing to only assume it was the one on Harrington st then to go to the Human Resources building to only find out that it is the next building. I go up there to see the doctor and told that because I was a new patient I was suppose to arrive at 10 and she would have to ask the doctor can I still be seen understood but not happy I am not a mind reader you have to communicate in words how early should I arrive and give a address so people wont waiste gas going around 10 buck 2. Sad part about it I really needed to be seen as a follow up from the er. But on to the next doctor. Just want to let new patients know what there getting into when they choose this facility This doctors office

My son and I have been going to Family First a good 10 years. Since my son was a baby. I have no problems getting an appointment or seeing my appointed doctor. They have always taken good care of us. Funny thing is I barely ever have to tell them who I am when I call. They know my voice. I will continue to go there as long as my insurances is accepted. I recommend others to go there as well.

There are a few pretty rude staff members there and a few nice ones. Their phone service is pretty bad though, when you can get through, that is. Overall, go somewhere else if you can.
