My experience with Dr Akler and her staff has been awesome! Respectful, courteous, professional, and personable -- every one of them, even at the out-patient center where the surgery is performed. I wore glasses for 30 years, with the last ten being at -8.50 in each eye. I was terrified at the thought of ever being somewhere unfamiliar and losing my glasses. (Contact lenses were uncomfortable.) Not only that, Ive never had clear night vision, and had experienced an unexplained vision loss in one eye a few years ago. ALL OF THESE were corrected by the procedure performed by Dr Akler! The procedure itself was so quick, I couldnt believe it. I could clearly see the time on the clock across the room as soon as I sat up after the procedure. About an hour later, my eyes felt extremely uncomfortable but that went away in less than four hours. At the next-day follow-up appointment with Dr Akler, my vision was already better than 20/20! A few days later, I drove at nighttime and was truly amazed at how clearly I could see... EVERYTHING! When I turned onto my street, I realized that I could even see traffic on the road ahead -- A MILE AWAY! Since then, my eyes have healed perfectly and Im only using eye drops the same frequency as I did before having surgery. THANK YOU, Dr Michelle Akler, Barbara, and all of the staff members who have helped me in any way during this major life event. As a patient who does not like dealing with medical professionals in general, my recommendation does not come lightly. However, I highly recommend Akler Eye Center! They have truly earned all five stars.

Dr. Akler was recommended to me by another patient that had her eyes done a few months prior to my visit. I went on the website and sent an email to them to setup my initial eye exam. Barbara called me back the next morning and was able to get me in on a date that worked for me. This consultation was a complimentary 2 hour exam, done by Becky (she is awesome!) to make sure I was a candidate for Lasik. Upon completion of the exam, I was told that I was a perfect candidate for CustomVue Lasik. I then booked my appointment. I was given thorough instructions on what to do to prep my eyes. I followed all of them and went to my surgery appt. When I arrived at the surgery center, everyone there was great! They measured my eyes with the custom scanner, gave me a valum to calm the nerves and then took me back to do the procedure. Dr. Akler and her staff were great through the whole thing. She talked me through it and made sure I knew what was happening. Im so glad I decided to have this procedure done! I sat up after the surgery and for the first time in 15 years, I could see! My mother in law drove me home. I slept the rest of day and through the night. I woke up the next morning and could SEE everything!! I went to my post-op appt. the next morning and I had my vision test, I have 20/20 in each eye 20/15 overall. I then drove to work and was able to work the whole day without any pain or problems. I made sure to use my eye drops as prescribed. My only regret is not having this done sooner! I would definitely recommend Dr. Akler! :)

I highly recommend Dr. Akler and Akler eye center!! I am very pleased with my lasik surgery. My surgery was quick, painless, and my recovery went well. I was back to work the following day, and back to swimming and dirt biking within a few weeks. My vision is unbelievable. Its like replacing your old tube TV with a new high definition plasma screen. I love not needing to wear glasses or having to deal with contact lenses anymore. If you have any interest, I would set up an appointment and see if you are a candidate. I should have done this 10 years ago... I did my research on other places as well. I went with Dr. Akler because she performs all of the surgeries herself and has a reputation to hold. Granted, the odds of problems are rare, I felt comfortable and confident that if I did have imperfections or problems that she would take the time to make everything right. Thankfully, everything went very well. Pricing seemed competitive. Cheaper than some doctors, slightly more expensive than big company eye centers. I would also like to add that I was willing to pay for the more expensive ilasik. Doc explained that my eye shape/thickness was great for the less expensive microkeratome lasik (laser scan custom view) . I really appreciated her honesty and actually spent less than what I had budgeted.

Choosing Dr. Akler for LASIK eye surgery was definitely one of the BEST DECISIONS I EVER MADE IN MY LIFE!!! I found Dr. Akler during an extensive search via google. Most LASIK surgeons had sub par reviews, if any. I could not find one doctor with excellent reviews across the board until I found Dr. Akler. She has countless excellent reviews that were all rated 5 stars and she is an award winning surgeon. That told me that she was truly a trusted and reliable professional that I can confidently put my very precious vision in her hands. She has such a calm and warm demeanor, which made me feel very comfortable in having the procedure. The day of the surgery, her staff was very nice, friendly and made me feel relax. During the surgery, Dr. Akler warmly and calmly talked me through as she preformed the procedure. It was COMPLETELY painless, simple and very fast!!! I could not believe it only took about 8-10 minutes!! I truly have a phobia about anything coming close to my eyes. I was soooooo scared to have it done even when my husband had it preformed 2-3 years prior. Im so glad I finally mustard up some courage and made one of the best decisions in my life!!! - Mrs. Sanford

Ive been wearing glasses or contacts since I was in 3rd grade of elementary school and had an embarrassingly strong prescription. Friends who said they had bad eyesight would try on my glasses and say, "oh my gosh". I have needed to wear corrective lenses all day ever day to even live my life. Needless to say, getting Lasik has been a life changer for me. I can go camping without having to bother with my glasses or put my contacts in while sitting in a tent. I can go on vacations without needing to worry about tearing my contact lenses. I had three consultations with different doctors before choosing to go with Dr.Aker for the procedure. I decided to go with her for a lot of reasons. My consultation with her was very straightforward, which is nice because it didnt feel like a sales pitch like it did with some other practices. The price was reasonable and I felt more comfortable with Dr.Akler than I did with the other doctors I met with previously. The procedure itself went smoothly and quickly. A month later and my vision is already better than 20/20! Im glad I had this procedure done, but Im also glad I waited and went with Dr.Akler to have it done.

My quality of life has improved significantly thanks to the incredible team at Akler Eye Center. I had the all-laser LASIK done in April and am thrilled to have 20/20 vision. I was initially quite nervous and hesitant about the idea of someone operating on my eyeballs, but my free consultation and exam at the Dearborn office put my nerves completely to rest. Michelle and her staff gave me all the information I wanted and more, and didnt try to upsell or pressure me on anything. The surgery took place at an outpatient center in Fraser and I was in and out in less than an hour, with the surgery taking about 30 seconds an eye (no pain, just a little pressure and I could barely see a thing). I went back to Dearborn for my one-day post-op exam and already had 20/20 vision. Amazing! There are three different LASIK options all at different price points; a standard procedure, a custom procedure that uses a blade, and a custom procedure that uses all lasers. I went with the custom all-laser and it was well worth the price. I cant say enough good things about Akler Eye Center and would recommend them to anyone looking to ditch their glasses or contacts.
