I was totally disgusted by this man many years ago. I think he has a drug dependency! He forgot he hadnt given my dog his vaccinations, but argued with me, Then, he came out to my vehicle and gave him the injections when he realized he had not given them. I also paid him thousands of dollars for treating my precious dog for nose bleeds. He said he thought it was an absessed tooth, even though there was no indication of a tooth problem. Also, the nose bleeds occurred on different sides! I told him I did not want his canine tooth pulled! He said he would do exploratory, but he pulled his teeth! My poor baby had tumors visibly growing out of his nostrils, which he somehow couldnt see. But, he took thousands of $ from me. I also had him treat my 4 month old kitten, broken jaw. He said he wanted an office cat, I told him he could have him, but he said my dear Frankie was too old. He told me he would die because he wouldnt be able to eat. He said $300 upfront, and I did it. 4 weeks later, and many phone calls, I still didnt have my cat. He then said he would keep him, cuz he was such a lovely cat, but I owed him an additional $450 or if I wanted him $650! Even though I couldnt financially afford it, I paid him the extra $200 and took my Kittie! Then, 2 weeks later, when my precious dog, needed to be euthanized, I carried my 80 lb. baby into his office in tears. But, in my emotional state, I had forgotten my purse. He would not euthanize him before I paid! I had always paid, didnt owe this loser a thing! He had taken me for over $10,000! Beware of this man!!!!

Weve taken our animals to Dr. Schwartz for 10 plus years, and simply put...hes fantastic. He treated our recently passed 13 year-old chihuahua for his entire life. Two years ago, he diagnosed him with early stage congesitve heart failure and was 100% spot on with the cardiologists secondary opinion upon referral. He prepared us for how the process would go and was compassionate, yet honest with us. It truly made a difference in how we cared for our dog and helped in making end of life decisions. He also called after the dogs passing to personally express his condolences and reassured us that we had been excellent parents to our pet. Most importantly, he treated our animal with utmost care and kindness. Those complaining about costs should consider that caring for a pet is a financial commitment that is not for everyone. In our experience, we would often discuss the clinical value of a prescription or a lab test versus the cost and in many cases Dr. Schwartz would choose NOT to take that avenue. Ive never sensed a desire for profit as a reason for any clinical decision hes made. Weve always taken his recommendations for food, treats or medical needs as trusted suggestions, not a sales opportunity. Lastly, the staff is always courteous and friendly. You get a sense that they feel like we, and our pets, are part of the family. I guess the strongest indicator of my belief in the practice is that our happy and healthy new 4 month old chihuahua puppy is one of Dr. Schwartzs newest patients!

This vet should not be trusted. I took my dog here years ago. He failed to recognize that she had diabetes. He told me the only thing that was wrong with her was that she was over-weight. I bought super expensive dog food from him and she would not lose weight and did not get any better. I kept bringing her in and every time he looked at me like I was an idiot. He basically called me a liar and said that I wasnt admitting to giving her other food. I finally took her somewhere else and they recognized IMMEDIATELY that she had diabetes. Once on insulin, she lost weight immediately and her other problems cleared up too. All he had to do was run a blood test. It breaks my heart to think of all of the unnecessary suffering she went through, because this guy was more concerned with making people feel stupid than trying to help animals. PLEASE, do not take your animals here!

I wouldnt recommend this vet to anyone. I took my dog there for a simple ear infection, easy enough right? Well the infection didnt clear up. So I gave them a call three days later they wanted me to bring my dog back in to charge me another 150.00 bucks for what?! I already paid for you to fix my dogs infection which you didnt do!!! And you want me to come back and pay again?? Honestly this place doesnt care about the animals all they care about is the money the whole time I was there they just kept hassling me about flea and tick and heart worm buy this or buy that. Hopefully you go out of business. Dont waste your time and money. Go some where that will care about your pets and actually help them. Im not upset about the money Im upset I took my dog to you for help and you cant even clear up an ear infection. Tell me what can you do right. Bunch of scam artist.

I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Schwartz for nearly 20 years. My first Bichon lived for nearly 17 years due to his outstanding care. My 2nd Bichon had eye issues and after he concurred with a local veterinarian Opthalmologist, I had Dr. Schwartz remove his left eye and my dog has been thriving ever since. Dr. Schwartz knowledge is amazing and he cares about his patients a great deal. I would never consider taking my animals to any other vet. I know the care my animals will get and I have a tough time believing there is anyone else out there that serves his patients with as much care and compassion as Dr. Schwartz. The staff at Clarkston Veterinary Clinic is amazing as well. They take their time with you and show respect and love your pet as if it was their own. Im grateful to everyone at Clarkston Veterinary Clinic.

The vet here seems to try and give suggestions on husbandry but does not know how to accurately diagnose and treat reptiles. I was informed by his staff that he does not take cultures to do antibiotic resistance testing when treating upper respiratory infection.. Without resistance testing or even a gram stain to find out if the bacteria is gram negative or positive you might as well keep your money and pull out the old dart board to guess for proper medications. Try parkway small animal hospital for reptiles in clinton twp. it is worth the drive.

Took my puppy there and he would talk in the back room and come in and day something completely different to me then to his coworkers...he didnt know what he was doing at all and his prices are outrageous. You would never know it if you are uniformed but I know how much certain things cost and he charged me double... I will use the extra gas and go to the humane society in rochester hills on auburn rd. they charged $17 for something that cost $39 at clarkston. Hes pushy, arrogant and only cares about money.

Will never come here again. The vet gave my beardie a high concentrated dose of an antifungal to give for 10 days, even though there was not a conclusive diagnosis for why he hasnt been eating. My beardie started having tremors and a couple of full on seizures a week later. The new vets I took him to suspect it was side effects or toxicity to the antifungal. Unless you want your pet to suffer, go somewhere else.
