I recently moved to the area, and I had a dental issue crop up. I started searching Google reviews for a good dentist in the area since I didnt know anyone in Michigan to ask for a referral. When searching Google reviews I came across Orchard Maple Family Dental, and I am so glad I did. From my first call, the receptionist was friendly and helpful. She set me up with an appointment for that day. When I got to their office their front desk staff had exemplary customer service, a perfect bedside manner, and I felt like I was talking to people who honestly cared. Before I was seen, I met with Dr. May (the dentist who took care of me) in their consultation room. She went over my medical history, asked good questions, and listened to me. Mariam, her dental hygienist, then took x-rays of my problematic teeth. Soon enough Dr. May came back, and sure enough -- as I suspected, but I was not surprised by -- fillings I had done just over a year ago had began to fall out. Dr. May then discussed treatment options with me, but she didnt try to push them on me. I cant express how refreshing it was to visit a dentist who wasnt try to push immediate treatment, but was understanding that treatment may not be in the "financial cards" at that minute; it is the first time I have ever experienced this at a dentists office. That said, I gave the okay to do the work. To my surprise and happiness she had time to do the work that day. My experience with dentists has been one where the doctors painfully jab the numbing agent into my mouth, and with their gruff and distant "professional" attitudes, their caring about pain or comfort is minimal. This wasnt the case with Dr. May or her assistant Danielle. They were both incredibly sensitive, gentle, and caring. They were so calm and gentle that their bedside manner made me go from feeling anxious and nervous to relaxed and feeling like everything was going to be okay; I found this amazing! To all of our disappointment, while they were working on the fillings, the power went out (not a common thing; rather, someone hit a pole or something in the area). We had to stop treatment because none of the machines worked. During this time, they did everything they possibly could do to find out what was going on, and they kept me informed every about their efforts. When the power company told them (yep, they even called the power company) that they didnt expect to get the power back until late that night, Dr. May filled my teeth with temporary fillings. She did by hand, and she did such an exceptional job that I didnt even feel them. I went home after that, but before their doors even opened this morning, I received a call scheduling me to finish the work today. I didnt have to wait, I wasnt put on the back burner until later this week, they got me in immediately to take care of everything. Because of how wonderful Dr. May and Danielle were Ive gone from someone who is scared to death and despises dentists to someone who now realizes a dentist appointment can actually be a good experience. The last dentist I went to -- the one who did the fillings that broke and fell out within a year -- had my bite so off that I had to go back to her office three times before she got it right. With one appointment, Dr. May made my bite perfect. Other than the normal odd sensation of new feelings, my bite feels more natural than it did before the filling fell out; I suspect within the next few days I wont even feel the fillings, and my bite will feel 100% normal, which it hasnt felt in a year. I am so grateful for my experience with Orchard Maple Family Dental, their staff, and Danielle and Dr. May. From the time I was a teenager, my dental experiences have been horrible. Ive experienced everything from dentists who have misdiagnosed problems to dentists who did shotty work. I had no idea that dentists could be so exceptional, and I look forward to being a long term patient with Dr. May.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. William Woodruff’s for over 20 years, and I can honestly say that I’ve never had anything other than positive experiences with this practice. Orchard Maple Family Dental boasts a warm, yet knowledgeable staff that seamlessly guides you through your entire process, irrespective of whether you are there for a mere dental cleaning or more advanced surgery such as a root canal. If you have children, you’ll be pleased to know that the office has an inviting waiting room, complete with a television and video games to keep the little ones occupied. In the event that you’re there for an ordinary dental cleaning, you’ll be quickly ushered to one of the dental hygiene stations, where one of the dental hygienists will work diligently (yet gently) to clean and polish your teeth, bringing out the brightest smile possible. Subsequent to your cleaning, you’ll be seen by one of the doctors, who will double-check your mouth just to make sure that you’re cavity free, inform you of any optional procedures that are available and generally answer any questions that you might have about your dental health. I have always known Dr. William Woodruff to be able to see patients in an expeditious, yet careful manner, and with the additions of Dr. Warren Woodruff and Dr. Amira May, I can only imagine that the practice runs even more efficiently. Perhaps the most telling thing about this practice is that it takes the ordinarily dreaded trip to the dentist’s office and turns it into a positive experience. Personally, I no longer live in Michigan, but because of my past experiences with Orchard Maple Family Dental, I continue to have all of my dental work done there, simply scheduling my appointments for cleanings, fillings, etc. whenever I’m in the metropolitan Detroit area visiting family members. I strongly encourage you to visit Dr. Woodruff, Dr. Woodruff and Dr. May today!

Billing Issues. My first time experience was November, 2016. I chose this dentist because my sister, who lives out of town goes to them for a cleaning when she is visiting. She raved about them so I decided to try. The initial visit was nice. They were aware that I was nervous about the visit and they were very sensitive to my needs. However, after paying the amount I owned for the visit, I received a letter stating that I didnt pay. I called the office and told them that I paid that day. They looked in my chart and told me that the payment was there, but was not entered. Okay. Honest mistake. Then, a couple of months later, I get a threatening letter stating that I was past due on a bill for $295, and that if I didnt pay, they were going to send me to COLLECTIONS!! Thats right, COLLECTIONS. I found the letter to be very threatening. That was the first time I even new about an outstanding bill. I called the office and the young lady told me that they dont see the letters that go out (HUH?), and that I needed to pay that bill or I would be in default. Being nervous and upset about being turned over to collections, I paid it right then and there over the phone. Furious, I contacted my provider and told them what had happened. They informed me that I shouldnt have paid them anything. They said that the Dentist did not send in the necessary paperwork for that procedure, and they cannot approve/pay it until they get the paperwork. After that, I spoke to a different young lady at the Dentist office who told me that I never should have received that letter (Too late. Already paid the bill) , and that they mailed out the necessary paperwork to my provider. To date, my provider still has not received the paperwork. I just want this cleared up so that I can get my money back.
