Knowledgeable and Compassionate. My cats have been going to Southfork for 10 years and they are an outstanding group of people. Dr. Paula is very compassionate, kind, thorough and knowledgeable. She has diagnosed my cats ailments correctly and helped save the life of my cat Mitts. She really took the time to check him out and gave him all the necessary tests. They have a network of highly specialized vets that they work with who also come in to the office. My cat needed radiation treatment for his thyroid tumor and now he is happy and healthy. The care and compassion they give to my pets is superb. When the time came to put my cat Mandy to sleep - they helped and assisted in a very dignified, loving manner. I trust them completely with the health of my pets. Update: it is now going on 18 years that my cats have been going to Southfork. I would not trust anyone else to take care of my dear pets. Dr. Paula Schanck is wonderful, as are all the other healthcare providers who work there. The people at the front desk have always been helpful, kind and caring. I know that when I bring my cats to Southfork, they will get the utmost in professional, technologically-advanced care, combined with a compassionate human touch.

My roommates puppy broke his leg, and the veterinarian near us (Brooklyn Park) told us that the only option was an extremely expensive surgery that was well out of her budget. Because I have worked with one of the vets here before with wildlife, I decided to call and see if there was anything they could do. We saw a different vet, but she has been excellent. She made us aware of all of the options available to us, and the prognosis for each one. The decision was made to put the leg in a cast and see how it healed. This vet shocked us with her honesty when she told us that the emergency veterinarian had reset the bones and the cast was unnecessary because the splint was able to support the bones. We saved a lot of money and were able to keep the puppy because of this veterinarian. They are too far from us for them to be my regular vet, but if anything big ever comes up, they will get my business. I would reccommend them to anyone.

I went to Southfork Animal Hospital for the first time under unfortunate circumstances. I took in my 12 year old cat to be put down and although I did not know the veterinarians or the staff they treated me and my cat with so much love and compassion. The vet and the staff carefully walked me through the entire process and made sure I was ok before moving forward with the procedure. Their compassion made the heartbreaking situation a little less painful and for that I am grateful. A few days later, I received a hand written note from the doctor letting me know how sorry they were for my loss, I was beyond touched that a busy business still took the time to do something so meaningful. I am appreciative of the treatment I received at Southfork and will now be bringing my two other cats to this location for their regular visits.

The staff at this vet clinic is outstanding. Weve been seeing the doctors here for 20 years. They have experience with exotic pets as well as dogs and cats. The routine care has been outstanding, and when you have an unfortunate event or death, it is handled with such care, they really do care about their human and furry clients.
