PARENTS BEWARE. We have gone to Dr. Sedighi for more than 12 years with two children, but recently we encountered problems with their billing and office staff. They recommended dental procedures (panoramic x-ray) that were not covered by insurance without telling us and then billed us an outrageous amount. When we tried to work with the people in the office, they refused to work with us and made outrageous claims about Dr. Sedighis credentials. Basically they were telling us that we had to pay for panoramic x-rays more frequently than were covered by Delta Dental Premiere insurance in order for Dr. Sedighi to keep his credentials. Of course Dr. Sedighi was not available to talk with us about the issue, because he does not deal with finances or customer issues. -- The Update that follows is in response to owners response -- The office staffs response below proves our point. Our problem was not with the procedure itself (panoramic X-ray), but the fact they did not tell us the panoramic x-ray was not covered by insurance ahead of time. The same panoramic x-ray was covered 3 years earlier, so we expected it to be covered again or for the dentist to warn us that it may not be covered. We were willing to share in the responsibility for the billing mistake and asked for a reduced fee. The office staff gave us two choices: pay in full or leave the dentist (and they would waive the fee). We volunteered to pay a reduced fee, but the office staff refused. Listen to the tone of their reply and the big capital letters (shouting). Does this sound like someone that is willing to work with their customers? Why would you waive a fee for a customer to leave, but not reduce your fee to keep a loyal customer of 12 years? How is a customer being unfair when the customer asks you to work with them? My comments state what happened (the facts) and are verified by the staffs response.

My son is on the Autism spectrum. We were at St Louis Pediatric Dentistry before coming to Dr. Sedighi. At the previous practice, they were not very patient with my son. It was very much like a factory - lets get em in and get em out. A child with special needs doesnt fit in with their assembly line dentistry. That kind of environment does not work with children with special needs. Even at home where we practice with my son to get him familiar and more comfortable with the routine and procedures at his dental examines, he still needs a minute to adjust and relax. After STLPD recommended sedation for future visits, I looked for other Dentists. I saw some of the positive reviews online and learned that Dr. Sedighi has experience with children with special needs. My son and I came to the office for visit and to meet the staff. Every one was kind and Dr. Sedighi asked a lot of questions about my son. I could tell that he was sincere in his interest to make my sons dental experience a good one. In turn, he answered all of my questions and listened to my concerns. On our second visit we arrived to get a cavity filled, and when Dr. Sedighi entered our room, it was clear that the doctor was not concerned about rushing through to get the job done. He was focused on my sons comfort and sensitive to his needs. I was there the whole time (and probably way more nervous than my son) and even when my son started to get impatient towards the end of the procedure, Dr Sedighi showed tenacity in completing the procedure correctly while being sensitive to my sons feelings. It was an incredible experience. As a father of a child with special needs, I cannot recommend Dr. Sedighi enough.

We love this practice and I recommend it to everyone I know. Everything about the experience is perfect. There are coloring books on line that you can print off to prepare your child before his first visit. When you go in, they take your childs photo and then send you a thank you note with your childs photo on it, so cute. Then the next visit, your child can watch for their photo on a big screen under the reception desk. They can play video games, watch the marble run or fish tank, and marvel over all of the cool furnishings and memorabelia (like Disneyland meets Hard Rock cafe). The staff greet the child, and are very friendly and helpful. My four year old is autistic, and they take extra care to show him each thing they are doing before they do it, and give him time to touch the electric tooth brush, water squirter, etc. They get to choose their toothpaste for the teeth cleaning, and wear little sunglasses to protect their eyes. After the appointment, they get to choose prizes from a treasure chest. And for the parent, the check-out process involves...nothing! You just leave and they bill your insurance, and bill you any balance if something isnt covered (so far we havent received any bills). Much different experience then say, our pediatrician...where, after the appointment you are standing in line for them to process paperwork, charge you a copay, and you are trying to comfort your children as you all wait. Both of my kids at age 3 and 4 brush and floss daily, and talk about going to the dentist like its an event to look forward to.

It was very important to me to find a dentist who would allow me or my husband in the room with our children while their teeth were being examined or treated. We appreciate that Dr. Sedighi treats our children with respect and seems to genuinely care about their feelings and needs. He speaks to them in a kind, comforting voice and explains what he is doing in child-friendly terms. He uses playful nicknames for the tools and lets the children know they are doing a good job and that he is proud of them. It appears he encourages his staff to do the same. We also appreciate the cleanliness of the office and the fact that even his attire is a reflection of his professionalism. There has been little to no wait time at our appointments and that helps reduce anxiety. The waiting room, halls and each room have been decorated in fun themes with characters and sports stars the children recognize. The children get to choose a prize from the treasure chest at the end of their visit and that is a big hit! Our children are actually happy to go to the dentist and they leave with smiles on their faces. The website is very informative and provides a great deal of extras, including a printable, personalized coloring book and letter from the tooth fairy. The use of current technology such as e-mail communication and text message appointment reminders is so convenient. We are very grateful for all the attention to detail.

My daughter has very bad teeth. Dr. Sedighi was our 3rd pediatric dentist as we were trying to find an affordable way to fix her teeth. Everyone we went to only wanted to take her to the hospital and do the procedures. We were looking at 4000+ in out of pocket expenses because of our insurance deductibles and dental insurance. We could not see putting that kind of money into baby teeth. The other 2 dentists made us feel like we were terrible parents because we didnt just get it all scheduled and paid for in adance. We finally found Dr. Sedighi who agreed to do it in the office over the course of 5 visits. She LOVES going there. She is our "Princess" and that is how he always greets her. I couldnt ask for a more caring environment for my daughter to go thru the procedures that she has endured. They are WONDERFUL and would recommend them to anyone. All office staff has always been very cordial and willing to explain anything that I have ever had questions about. We drive more than an hour to see Dr. Sedighi and I dont see that changing anytime in the near future. When I ask my daughter about maybe going to a dentist that the rest of our family uses for her cleanings she says NO. She will only go to Dr. Sedighi! Thank you to Dr. Sedighi for helping us get our daughters teeth fixed!!!!!
