It really breaks my heart that I have to leave a bad review. Because I desperately want to say that my experience there and my last moments with my dog were perfect. But they werent. Of course, how could they be absolutely perfect? She was sick. At the max of her life expectancy and She had kidney problems, she had an infection and she had low platelets which means that she was anemic and would not survive a surgery. With that being said, the first thing that really upset me was they tried to tell us the reason she was dying was because she wasnt spayed. Which I absolutely refuse to believe. She was old. Not having her spayed doesnt have anything to do with the problems she had. Secondly, when the doctor came in to give her the medicine to put her to sleep, she almost stabbed (yes, you read that right) my fiancé and then joked about it. Which I dont think is very funny, considering we were not only crying, but she pretty much joked about killing him. I can appreciate dark humor, but it wasnt the place. And third, once she injected it, my dog let out the most painful yelp. I know this couldnt have been her fault, but it was devastating to watch and was the HARDEST thing I have ever seen in my life. She helped, growled, screamed for help until she finally passed and its burned in my mind. I cant sleep, I cant eat. Im so depressed, and she took the last moments away by talking. Once injected, I only get 60 seconds to tell Sadie I love her and the doctor spent the entire time talking. I know its her job to inform me whats going on. But she was telling us things we not only knew, but she wasnt explaining why Sadie was yelling the way she was. She was in so much pain...and I cant help but blame myself. All I could do was tell her I love her, Im sorry and hold her body crying until she grew cold. While the doctor seemed like this was a completely normal process. Which, I understand it is for her. But, she acted like this was no big deal. Maybe Im being too sensitive. But I laid on that cold floor with my best friend 8 months pregnant, and just wept. I have a friend who is a vet tech at another emergency clinic, and the doctor there apparently doesnt act so "eh" about these things. So unfortunately, I wont be coming back. Because this was such a hard time for our family, and we knew she was sick from old age, but they tried to convince us it was somehow OUR fault, which is wrong in the end. You can think what you want, but she was dying, and you could have kept any kind of opinion to yourself and let us mourn. Also, a little information, they let us spend as much time as we needed to say goodbye and tap on the door when we were ready. Of course I didnt want to let Sadie go, but she was groaning in pain and breathing fast, obviously in pain so I wanted her to be at peace as soon as possible. We knocked at the door, and it took the doctor another 45 minutes to an hour to even come to us, and like I said, when she did, she just walked in, gave her the injection (didnt exactly explain what she was doing) and then talked over my "I love yous" to my dog while she was passing. Id like to believe Sadie heard the love from me as her last moments. But I fear her last moments were feeling the annoyance from me, the heartbreak and the doctor talking. I wont be coming here again to help an animal in an emergency situation. I need more support, understanding and sympathy from a vet. I know its their daily job and they have grown immune to it, but they have to keep in mind that this is not something we witness every day. I just witnessed my best friend die last night, and Im mourning.

Our 13 year old diabetic blind min pin was suffering a life threatening case of ketoacidosis. We took him to another emergency vet at 9pm, only to have them try to sell us 5,000 worth if tests, even after I told them to just get iv fluids started asap and a CBC, and then we could discuss more tests after that (basically asked them to stabilize him first). The other vet refused until I signed a "care plan" agreeing to the 5k worth of tests. We ended up leaving, without our dog being stabilized. After getting home, we were looking desparetly for another emergency vet and called our primary vet voicemail, on which they recommended Urgent Animal Care. I called, and the vet answered. I explained the situation and she said to get him to her right away, that even though they were closed, she would turn on the front lights for me and meet me there. When we arrived, the vet was holding the door for us, and we went straight back where she immediately administered anti-nausea injection and started him on iv fluids...our dog was being stabilized within 10 minutes of us walking in the door. Our dog stayed the rest of the morning while being stabilized, and we picked him up later in the day and took him to our regular vet for the rest of the day. However, our vet closed at 5:30, so we had to bring him back to Urgent for a final night of iv fluids and glucose curves. When we picked him up, he was stabilized and ready for us to take him home and nurse him back to good. Everything, including 2 hospitalizations, mess, ivs, office calls, etc. was about 15-20% of the cost of what the other emergency vet was trying to sucker us into. Long story, but if this vet hadnt done what she had done, our dog wouldve died. I have read a few other reviews here that stated that Urgent overcharged them...apparently those people have not been to the other emergency vet in Omaha. If your pet needs help, dont hesitate to visit Urgent. If you have problems with the receptionist, ask to talk to the vet. We didnt talk to a recptionist until we picked our dog up, and we had no problems with her. We have three dogs, and will not hesitate taking them to Urgent if necessary....glad we found a replacement for the other place that makes you feel like your being pressured into buying a used car.

My cat had been throwing up for a day and decided that I needed to take her in because I couldnt help. Went here because it was closest and after I checked her in everything was okay. Felt a lack of concern but I let it slide because I thought it was a calming tactic since most people coming in are desperate to get their animals help. It was when I came back to pick her up that was horrible. I was waiting for quite a long time and since I really didnt know what was going on in the back I figured they must have some emergencies happening. One receptionist was cleaning the windows and wiping surfaces down. She left and a young couple had walked in very upset because they just recently adopted a Pomeranian and he broke his leg jumping off a couch. A 2nd receptionist came out to check them in, took the dog as if she was going to take them the back AND SHE GAVE THE DOG BACK TO THE OWNER. Didnt show any concern or remorse... didnt even say anything or try and do anything to rush and get the dog help. It was utterly appalling. Now both have left the front office, dog with broken leg still waiting with everyone else and we see the 1st receptionist that had been cleaning, walk out the front door like nothing was wrong!! The couple walked out and went to a different clinic where I hope he was taken care of. For my cat, they seriously wanted me to pay before I even talk to the vet. That is horrible customer service and I said no. I wanted to know what was wrong first then pay. The vet was very sweet but when showing the x-rays (taken for any blockages which there wasnt any) and kept turning the lights on and off which seem very odd. It was unprofessional plus she was focusing on what wasnt wrong with my cat instead of what was wrong. I had to ask all the questions and I still didnt get full answers other than it could possibly be two things: inflammation due to a virus or something she ate. Gave me some meds to give her and that was it. Just seemed like we had gotten incompetent service and the receptionists dont even care about the animals so Im never going back.
