I just had a recent experience that prompted me to write this review. I have a bf who had 2 dogs that visited this place. Let me start off by saying one of them was treated very well at this place. However, the last experience with the second dog was a terrible experience, thanks to a doctor whom I will call Dr. C. My bf & his brother brought in Skippy to the veterinarian to see Dr. C. Dr. C made sure Skippy received antibiotics for an ear infection, and also recommended other things for Skippy. One of the recommendations along with giving Skippy antibiotics and other medications, was to euthanize Skippy. My bf & his brother love their dogs and would do anything to make sure that they are well-cared for; they chose not to euthanize Skippy. Now, Skippy is a 14-year-old male Shih tzu who was born with mental & physical abnormalities. He walks with both front paws facing different directions, he drags his bum, he is non-athletic, and he walks weird. In regards to his mental disability, he is a dog who barks at nothing, he barks at the wind, for hours non-stop even; nothing can get him to stop barking. Food, water, sun, and solace does not help him stop barking. He does not know sit, stay, or any commands. He also does not respond when his name is called. May I remind you all of these mental and physical disabilities are his "normal" characteristics ever since he was young. To this day, Skippy has a back and muscle problem, which may be attributed to a cancerous tumor in the brain, but he is also still able to walk, sleep, eat, pee, defecate, and breathe. Knowing this, he is being well-taken care of; he is being coddled and given premium dog food products, pedialyte, baby food, oatmeal, beef, and much more. Moreover, Skippy is still in decent shape for being a 14-year-old dog with the genetics he has (in my opinion). Fast-forward to this week’s events: we got a call that the SPCA was looking for Skippy. Apparently, Dr. C called the SPCA on the grounds of animal cruelty. I was deeply perturbed and angry that Dr. C would go to such events. But, as a nurse, I get that Dr. C would call on behalf of Skippy because s/he is trying to be an advocate for Skippy and possibly suspects animal abuse. But, if they see someone bringing in their beloved pet to the veterinarian hospital, who is in their worst condition (not their best), and whose owner is willing to shell out the big bucks and also pay for the expensive medication to get their dog back to the best they can be, then why would you even ever consider calling the SPCA, let alone allowing your speculation of an abused dog to continue to go home with the supposedly abusive owner on the same day you saw the dog? Anyways my experience is that Dr. C does not know and has never taken care of Skippy for too long. Also Dr. C’s suggestion to euthanize Skippy, because he has melting corneal ulcers and other debilitating problems (attributed to his genetics and old age in my opinion), should have been just left at a suggestion and not have went as far as to call the SPCA. I am also sure Dr. C does not know with 100% certainty that euthanasia is not painful and does not cause the dog to suffer. Also, in a similar situation, I would hope that the doctor wouldn’t suggest an option to euthanize my mom, even if she was suffering from debilitating conditions (i.e. diabetes, amputated limb, and corneal ulcer), and make sure to send someone to check on the living conditions of where she lives just because she might be suffering and they believe in their professional opinion that she should be put down. Same situation applies for Skippy. If people put their family pet down, it’s only because they don’t want to endure the hardships: the emotional pain, expensive finances, the time, the energy, and etcetera. Let the dog pass away from natural causes, not artificial....even if they are suffering, otherwise why bother having a dog as part of your “family” in the first place? After all, would you put any of your blood family members down, even if they were suffering from physical or mental issues?

Will never go there again. Brought our cat in for an initial visit, a doctor came in the room for all of five minutes and then sent a tech in to spend the next half hour going over the invoice and trying to sell various medications etc. The next visit our cat was scheduled to be spayed, the office failed to call and tell us that the dr. scheduled was on vacation. We convinced them to have another doctor do it instead of having to chase down our cat to bring her to the vet a second time (she was terrified). After the spaying we asked about an ecollar, they told us it wasnt necessary etc...sure enough a week later we brought her back, her sutures had opened and she had an infection. The corrective surgery was several hundred dollars. The office and staff are unprofessional and only concerned with making money, if you care about your pet DO NOT bring them here!

This place is sooooo bad...The nurse didnt even know how to reset a baby scale to weigh my cat upon walking in. Her english was horrendous, I was in shock that they let her even deal with the customers. The doctor had knowledge but seemed cold and uninterested, she proceeded to suggest a bunch of expensive treatment options that my cat didnt even need. She proceeded to go work on an estimate and has the ridiculous non english speaker come in and "pitch" me ...wow unreal, then I go to check out and our non- english speaking friend totally messed up writing down all the information about my cat, apparently she cant write english either...So bad, do not ever bring an animal to this place, they will try to manipulate u, take your money and they arent even good at it...Makes me sick even thinking about it.

I give 4 of 5 stars for the prices alone. Sure its expensive to own a pet, but it seems every time I leave there it cost 700 to 1,000 dollars, to care for my precious pet. The Doctors provide 5 star care, theres no doubt about it: They Care, but this a cookie cutter outfit with predetermined prices, so no negotiating. *Tip: If this is your first visit, go to their website listed on this page. Every new pet gets a free 1st visit, but only with the Internet coupon. Combine that with half off shots 3 days per week, during what I assume must be their slow hours and you can get yourself a good deal on vaccinations.

The place is so clean and professional looking, the front desk staff greets you with a smile and are always so friendly. The doctor’s are amazing and make you feel comfortable, when examining your pets. They ask you questions and they are able to answer all of your concerns. I would recommend this hospital to all my family and friend’s. P.S. on Wednesdays is 50% off your vaccination. ;)

I have been taking my dog to Freehold Animal Hospital since Fall 2012. I could not be more pleased with how both I and my dog are treated. The vets are all great and the rest of the staff could not be any nicer. I could not be happier with the service provided. Highly recommended.

Great place- love the waiting room! Everything is so clean and nice. The girls at the desk are complete sweethearts. The docs here are always so good about giving me all options and helping explain whats going on with my babies. Freehold Animal Hospital is by far the best around!
