I moved to the area about 2 years ago. My baby, a 14 year old Mainecoon - Gianni, started showing signs of weight loss and I noticed he wasnt eating just a few months ago. I became worried and started him on wet food. That method was short lived. He was starting to act strange. I took him to a local Veterinary (of which I will not name for the sake of slander) who brushed it off as a gum infection. Forcing antibiotics and pain relievers in him caused much distress and heartbreak. He resented me for it and refused to come near me. I cannot begin to tell you how bad that hurt. My in-laws made the judgement call to take him to their Vet - Hopewell Veterinary Group.. The Vet (although was a little insensitive) knew exactly what Gianni needed. He took his time with him and covered all the bases. Sometimes we mistake tough love for in-sensitiveness. I guess it was a case of Truth Hurts. He found a tumor the size of a Plum on his left kidney (cancer) and the blood panel was thorough and detailed which detected Feline Leukemia. The other Vet completely overlooked the obvious. My baby went from 28lbs to 12lbs and there was no surgery to fix his health. I was faced with the hardest decision of my life. But the Vet at Hopewell knew how traumatic this was for me and my family and the state of health he was in. They were comforting, respectful and catered to this difficult situation. Our privacy was highly respected and he even helped me position him in his coffin as though he was peacefully sleeping. I respect that everyone has an opinion and as I was reading the previous comments, I came across the one that described Hopewell as nothing more that a Farm Vet. Well, farm animals are pets too regardless where they live. I believe they are even more knowledgeable than a cat/dog vet as their experience clearly is more vast. Their facility is far from the Hilton and doesnt have all the bells and whistles but they dont rape you on charges either. I spent over $300 at the other Vet who only did a check up.. Hopewell did EVERYTHING!! Exam, full panel, sedation for evaluation and eventually euthanasia for less than HALF. They care about your babies and they care about you! We will be going back there very soon with our new addition.

Do not take your animal here! They have absolutely no professionalism and do not care about your animals health and well being. I had what I thought was a minor issue with them last year. I tried to get meds online and they refused to fax the online provider an ok to order the meds. So, I got my dog his shots and had them write me a prescription for the meds. End of story or so I thought. I took the half hour drive down there to get his shots for this year. The very old woman behind the desk motioned me over and said " Apparently, you were not happy with our services last year, asked for your records (which I did not), so we closed your account. " I reminded them about the meds mishap and that I did not want to close my account. She told me to wait a minute and she would see if the vet would consider treating my dog. She came back and said he would not. I told them they were very unprofessional and walked out. If they cared about my dogs welfare and if they did think I was unhappy with the services they should have tried to rectify the situation. I even recommended three customers to these so called vets. Knowing my dog needed his shots and meds and they just turned us away shows they could care less about animal welfare. I will be filing a formal complaint.

I got charged in $35 for nothing. They call this - courtesy. If youre new - nobody will help you. Youll pay even extra money. Thats how it works. I not recommend this hospital. Prices are high but service is poor. I got their phone number from friends, so I make an appointment for first wellness exam on Tuesday. I told them that I am new to this country. And ask to give me all important information. I came to appointment in time but to different hospital(( I misunderstood my friends about adress, but the reception girl even didnt try to ask me or remind me about location. Instead of that I got the courtesy call and got informed that Ill be charge of $35 because I didnt show up. And I didnt know about this super option. I tried to explain her that it was a misunderstanding and all the situation. Her courtesy was unbelievable - she was repeating like a machine It is courtesy call and youll be charged for $35. Happy that not full price - first visit is $55. Thank you for introducing me your courtesy by phone. I know now which hospital I should never recommend.

DO NOT TRUST HOPEWELL VET!!! I used to bring my dogs and guinea pigs to hopewell but I stopped going to this vet about 3 years ago after many bad experiences! Every time I would go there they would bring me into an exam room with used needles or garbage laying on the counters from the last patient. The last time I was there I brought my guinea pig and they barely did an exam on him and gave me some medicine for a infection and said thats all. My poor piggy ended up dying that very night in my arms. I have been telling my mom to stop bringing her dog there for years now and she didnt want to listen to me. They kept saying the dog was fine and she had allergies or sipmple diagnosiss. Friday night we had to rush my moms dog to animerge because she could barely walk... come to find out hopewell has been feeding my mom lies and not giving her dogs proper diagnosis and now the poor dog might not make it through. DO NOT TRUST HOPEWELL!!!

Hopewell Vet Group used to be and still is a "farm vet". Not the place to go if your pet is a member of the family. Better for folks who think "its just a dog, its just a cat" and cant justify spending on pet medical expenses. They still vaccinate pets annually, contrary to 2006 American Animal Hospital Associations vaccine protocol recommendations that vaccinating every 3 years is protective. The techs do the teeth cleaning (SURGERY!), including the anesthesia, without monitors or veterinarian supervision. They dont require pre-surgical blood tests or chest x-rays; a dangerous archaic practice. The front desk staff is atrocious, indignant, poorly mannered and void of customer service skills. A few of the doctors are indeed technically skilled, but way behind the curve concerning new information and technology. I dont know if it is compassion fatigue or simply old fashioned views of the value of animals.

I switched to this vet about a year and a half ago after my happy-go-lucky dog showed visible distress at the abrupt handling he received at another local veterinarian. I have been delighted with the service I have gotten here. They are a no-nonsense vet. They will not recommend a procedure that is not necessary. For example, we recently adopted a stray cat. When I brought her in for an evaluation and they were unable to determine if she was spayed, they recommend waiting to see if she went into heat rather than an exploratory surgery. For this reason, I dont think they are uncaring but rather take a realistic approach towards veterinary practices and what people can afford to do. I also appreciate that they are straightforward and will tell you if they are unsure about something. Their prices are very reasonable and their pricing practices fair. Therefore, I wholly recommend this practice.
