I will NEVER take my kids there again. Today I took my 7 year old to get ceilings done and as soon as he gets in the room he doesnt say hello to her , he saw her eye watery because she was scared and he loudly says " there is no needle no nothing its just a waste of my time " he continued to move on with the ceilings and the assistant was trying to keep my daughter mouth dry and the cotton ball that was in my daughter mouth came out and he said to the assistant " youre useless, you know that , useless!" He took his mask off and stormed out the room. I felt so bad for the assistant I told her she is not useless he is very unprofessional and I will not return, she was there just shocked ! Meanwhile this is all said with my daughter under their hands ! He told the assistant to get out and brought in another one. The new assistant knew what happened but was very comforting towards my daughter and made her feel better but when he returned to the room , he continued to talk about how the assistant before was not capable of doing her job. The tension was so thick ! When he was done , not one word to me or my daughter I told the assistant I will never return , that was very unprofessional kids are already nervous about the dentist and then she gets more nervous with his behavior . I dont care IF he was the best dentist in the world , the doctor was rude , unprofessional, disrespectful and never again I will take my kids there. Not worth seeing that.

I have been going to Rockaway Dental for a several years now. Just recently I was in pain and I called the office and was told I can come in the very same day. I also mentioned to the staff that I hadnt been there in a year or so and they told me it was no problem. The staff was very professional and friendly. As soon as I walked in they immedialtely updated my records and took me right in to be seen. Dr. Helfand was very considerate and patient with me. He ordered x-rays and and took the time to consult with me my options. He recommened that I have a root canal and that he could begin the process right than and there, I was so thrilled that I didnt have to make another appointment. He was very professional, caring and made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure. He also made sure I was pain-free and talked me through all the steps. Its nice to know that you can walk in to a medical facility and be treated with respect and know that their number one priority is you. Thank you to Dr. Helfand and staff for your continued support, kindness and excellent customer service!

Im only giving this place two stars because of the receptionist and hygienist. They were very helpful and friendly. If I was rating the Dr. it would be 0 stars. He was a total D-Bag. Rude, not friendly all. Scolding me for not having x-rays. Im 20 weeks pregnant, and the hygienist didnt give then to me because of that. He then told me I had a cavity and that if I dont take care of it now, I will have to get a root canal in 6 months. I asked him if its ok to have x-rays and fillings while Im pregnant. He said "OF COURSE IT IS" again rude and condescending. Sorry Meat Head, I didnt know. Then he just walked away, didnt say "nice to meet you" or "have a nice day", nothing. Im not asking for a lot, but a little kindness and patience goes a long way. I was very upset and told the receptionist about it. She apologized for him, unfortunately it doesnt make me feel much better.

im a little upset reading all of these reviews. i have not been with this dentist for years but i have had a few appointments. i have had nothing but laughs everytime i step foot into this office. the doctor is absolutely hilarious and his assistant is super friendly. i am a punk with a phobia of dentist and needles so it is very important for me to be in a calm, comforting environment with lots of distractions and this office definitely provides that. The office is very clean with awesome superhero decoration EVERYWHERE including the doctors outfits lol. i love the confirmation text that i receive before each appt. and how understanding the doctor is. this is an office full of personality so if your a dull person then maybe you should stay away.. jk. i give this place 2 thumbs up.

This was the worst dental clinic I have ever visited. I have been trying to make appointments for my 3 kids since Nov. 2012 and they cancelled on me 3 times on the same day of my appts. Finally someone rescheduled me for the 4th time for Feb 14 2013. When I came there the receptionist told me that I was not in their schedule. This office was the most unorganized crew I have seen. They are not capable on keeping your appointments with them. They keep on rescheduling you just to cancel over and over. They are not sincere with their words. They have no system and the receptionist gave me a sarcastic face when I got a bit upset. I would never recommend this place to anybody.

Absolutely horrible. One of the rudest, arrogant and unprofessional dentist I have ever met. He has horrible and mean to children. My daughter was scared and he was yelling because she was scared. He even yelled at me and told me I need to be a parent and tell her to knock it off. He made her even more scared by his temper. Most children are nervous. I would never ever bring my kids there again.

Only posting one star because the receptionists and hygienists were so nice. I went in for a routine cleaning and learned I had 3 cavities. I went in to take care of them and had pain for weeks after. Turns out, he drilled too deep into my teeth, one of which now requires a root canal. I may also need a second root canal as well on another tooth he worked on. I will never go back there.

I got a cheek abscess from him giving me a shot of novacane on the side of my mouth that he didnt even work on. He is very rude and told me to shut up when I tried to tell him my filling came out, and then later realized it actually came out. Dont ever go here, my friends got their mouths ruined by him too. Horrible service, unhygienic, long wait, rude dentist.

This place is horrible. Came in for a root canal, and I spent about 40 minutes waiting in the waiting room. The procedure took much longer than necessary as there were many times when I was left waiting in the room. As I was waiting for the dr to put the filling in, the power went out. Very upsetting as I had been waiting 20+ minutes for him already.

Ive been using Rockaway Dental for 2 years so far and im very happy with the services they provide. My son needed an orthodontist and i brought him to Dr. Rene Johe. He was very careful with him and did a great job on taking care of my sons dental problems.
