So today while I was walking my dog my 6-year-old glasses just snapped right in half, and my first call was to the nearest eyecare office (this one) to ask what I should do. It was 30 minutes before they closed, but I got on the phone with the most helpful human being I have ever encountered in my entire life---his name was Pierce, and EVEN THOUGH THIS PRACTICE DOESNT EVEN TAKE MY INSURANCE, instead of dismissing me out of hand and just telling me to call someplace that did, he looked it up FOR ME and gave the phone number of the nearest practice that takes me insurance (!!!!!!!) and THEN he even walked me through all the steps I would have to take to get new glasses TONIGHT. And I did. If Pierces employers are reading this, please know that your employee is a telephone customer service superhero and you are lucky to have him. And thats the story of why Im giving a 5-star Google review to an eyecare practice Ive never even been to (because they dont take my insurance)---because one phone call answered all my questions and got me a long way toward solving my problems, and because I was treated like a person with a problem instead of like a potential customer.

Ive been a patient here for four years. They have outstanding customer service, and Dr. Carstens is very knowledgable and helped me solve my dry eye problem. This is one of the best eye practices Ive been to. Im not sure why people think theyve been overcharged. Eye exams (with contact lens exams) tend to run $140 or so, even at Wal-Mart. I have recommended this practice to friends, and as a contact lens wearer for 15 years, I can say my eyes have never felt better.

Friendly and competent! Ive seen both Dr. Gropper and Dr. Sykes and have had great experiences with both of them. All the options for eyewear are discussed and Ive been very pleased with the service and my glasses/lenses. I also appreciate that budget eyewear options were discussed openly and honestly and I felt no pressure to purchase eyewear only in their office. I HIGHLY recommend their office and services!

Ive been wearing either glasses or gas-permeable contact lenses for the last 32 years. Ive gotten the best eye care as well as customer service at Chapel Hill Eyecare, bar none (and Ive been to lots of eye docs). Great! place. On the rare occasion that Ive had an issue, theyve stepped up like champs. As long as I live in the Triangle, Ill drive here - its worth my eye health to make the trip.

I have been going to Chapel Hill eye care for 10 years. I am only posting since I was looking up the number to move my appointment time and saw several people who had bad experiences. Mine has been just the opposite, I woulnt go anywhere else. I pay out of pocket to visit Dr. Gropper because I believe I am worth it. I even drive 45 miles one way to make the visit. Jean C

Dr. Gropper is thorough, explains things in a way I can understand and approaches her consult with an integrative approach. Although Ive moved to Asheville, I return to Chapel Hill once a year for my annual exam, because I know I will not find anyone more well suited or knowledgeable! Chapel Hill Eye Car is absolutely the best eye care experience Ive ever had. The staff was personal yet professional. Nearly my entire visit was handled by my doctor, Dr. Carstens, not a nurse like most other optometrists. It was nice to be treated like a person rather than just a number. Overall, the entire visit was completely pleasurable. I will be back!
