This is an awesome vet that does awesome vet care. I have been to many vets with my pets over the years and this one provides exceptional service. My dog fights me like an alligator every time I attempt to trim her nails but Lorraine was able to to it with no problem and while lavishing lots of love on her. They were also super kind and sensitive when we had to deal with difficult things such as losing our previous pets. I see Dr. Musgrave typically (although I have seen the other vets as well and they are great) and have found that she is a caring and experienced doctor. Fun fact: Vets dont typically do this for the money...they do this because they love animals and want to give them the best care possible down to every detail, even when that means remembering about a vaccine reaction my dog had (I had forgotten) and as a result premeding appropriately. Dr. Musgrave is a stellar example of someone who is doing their job just because of the love of it....she could probably do other things but she does this because she cares and the pets she sees are better off for it. Everyone there is phenomenal....from the time you walk in to the time you leave...Im giving five stars only because it wont let me go up any higher.

The one star is for having a working phone, which amounts to the only thing that appears to work at this office. Our experience was mostly fraught with terrible customer service, poor listening skills, and perhaps an ingrained lack of compassion for a litter of kittens. Either I was hoping to schedule via phone or in person a consultation on how to care for a litter of kittens we found abandoned. We’ve been caring for 3 newborn kittens for 3 days using YouTube / the web due to the fact that many vets don’t operate on weekends. I left a message with reception to talk to the only vet tech on staff who specializes in kittens on Monday when the offices opened, but it was not returned. It culminated with yet another call to talk to the only employee trained to discuss kittens (the aforementioned tech), but I never got that far: I was told they don’t have room to care for them. Even though in my message and previous phone calls with reception I made it clear we are keeping and caring for them: we just needed consultation, mostly regarding nutrition and shots. It was like talking to a petri dish full of amoebas. I’m glad others who have posted here have had a better experience. I hope we were just an outlier.

Everyone here was very nice but the quote I got to have my dogs tooth removed was ridiculous. It included pre opp blood work, anesthesia, dental cleaning, tooth removal, packing of the tooth and updated on "necessary" vaccinations/tests. I even double asked if they were all necessary and they said yes, otherwise they couldnt perform the procedure. All of this for about $1100. Yes you read that right. Because of another review here talking about how they charged unnecessarily I decided to get the antibiotics and pain meds ($100) and began to call around for quotes. Not only did I find out 3 of the vaccinations/tests were up to the owner and in no way required by law or necessarily even recommended ($150-200 worth) but that everyone else pretty much has a set price for dental procedures (extractions are extra) verses here where they charge for every single thing. Now I have have an appointment to get my dogs a dental cleaning under anesthesia (includes everything) with pre opp blood work, dental extraction, nail clipping, updated rabies vaccination AND a neuter for about $600. About half of the cost. I understand running a business but really? Charging literally 100% more than other clinics. And I called 6.

Having relocated from NJ, we were unsure of a vet in the Raleigh area. After searching, we found a VCA vet, but were still unsure. However, after our first visit, and recent pre-op bloodwork for our 11-yr-old mini schnauzers upcoming dental work, my wife and I are very satisfied with the staff, and the way our lil girl is treated, at VCA Durant Road. Friendly, willing/able to answer any/all questions. I realize there are probably other veterinarians in the area, and I can not speak for them. I *can* say this: give VCA Durant Road a try, and you may not need to try anyone else for your fur kid(s) needs!

Super pleased with our experience at this animal hospital! The staff was very friendly (both the front desk staff and the vet techs) and welcoming. The vet was really great about explaining various parts of our dogs exam and results, and offered practical advice/solutions for us. The office carried the medications we needed, saving me a trip to the pharmacy! The communication level has been spot-on. Email reminders and the occasional phone call ... and when our dog was sick, her vet called several times that week to check up on her. We plan to continue bringing her to this location.

Great place, friendly environment, and DO NOT PRICE GOUGE. These kind people got me an appointment asap after petsmart refused to give me a prescription for flea and heartworm meds for my 7 month old puppy because "They had not seen her in over a year".... nough said with that story. Dr. Musgraves was fantastic and accommodated us to the fullest and safest benefit. I was even given a free leash, as I had just lost mind. Atop all of this they even sent me a "Welcome and Thank you" card about a week after our first visit. This is easily the best vet/animal hospital I have visited. :)

I moved from another region. I took one of my 2 cats for its yearly shots and was told he should have a heartworm test and a heartworm shot, along with the other shot. I thought it was a NC thing and agreed - $180!! By the time I took the other cat in, I had found out that wasnt necessary or even recommended and asked just for the necessary shots. This time the vet didnt even come in the room - the tech gave the shot. I have since found a much better place for my animals - more caring and less expensive and with no unnecessary treatments.

Cheap & Caring: I moved to the Raleigh area a couple of months ago. I tried out CareFirst as my first vet in the area. It left much to be desired. This clinic took care of my pups as if they were their own. They have such a friendly staff. Joseph, the vet tech, couldnt have been more inviting. When he hugged both of my dogs (rotweiller & Australian shepherd) before we left, I almost collapsed from the cuteness. I would highly recommend this vet for their attentive care & more than competitive pricing.

They charged me additional fees for drugs given to my dog that i did not agree to, nor were they necessary. if this had occurred in a doctors office with one of my children, they would have a lawsuit on their hands. They also were too "scared" to clip all my dogs nails, and left an entire paw unclipped, still charging me full price. Petco never has a problem clipping all her nails. I will not return, nor will I recommend this office.

I love VCA I have been coming here for years. The staff is wonderful, Dr. Allen is a kind and loving doctor. The first baby I brought here was Yukon Jack he was with us 18 years. Our second baby was Peewee, he left us at 10 years old. Here we go again Savannah Girl, she loves going to day care and loves all the staff. So if you love your children as much as we do, be sure to visit VCA Durant Road Animal Hospital.
