I went to Dr. Rau on a recommendation from a friend. I wanted to get a mole check and my friend suggested Dr. Rau. On my first appointment I wanted 1 ½ hours to see him. When I was in the room and the nurse was taking my information I mentioned to her how long it took to get in to see the doctor. She said it happens all the time. – They double book she said. She then went on to say that the general populations of Dr. Rau’s patients were senior citizens and they don’t mind waiting since they don’t have anything else to do. – She then laughed. I am not a senior citizen but I thought her comment was out of place. She then proceeded to ask me what I was her for. I told her a “mole check.” She said, “Well, at least you know what you are here for. When I asked other patients why they are here to see Dr. Rau, they reply with “I don’t know, Dr. Rau just said I had to come back.” I knew then I was in trouble. The doctor came into the office. He asked what I was here for. I said a mole check. He looked at my body and said he found a mole that he wanted to take a look at closer. He didn’t look at anything through a magnifying lens or any other equipment, just visually. I said okay and scheduled another appointment. On my second appointment and an hour later in the waiting room, my name finally got called. As he was numbing the area were he was taking a biopsy from, his hand was shaking. (Dr. Rau is approximately 60-ish in age) I was nervous that he was shaking considering where he was numbing was a highly sensitive area on my body. The procedure went forward and he said to call back in one week with the biopsy results. He said not to worry, that he just wanted to confirm it was a mole and nothing else. At check out, the nurse said that Dr. Rau wanted to see me for a follow up. I declined the follow up after since I wasn’t going to waste any more money to sit in a waiting office for hours on end and have a doctor who can’t hold his hand steady while doing a biopsy. After a week, the doctor called me and said he wanted me to come back and in because he wanted to freeze the mole off. I was surprised since he originally told me that everything was okay. He said it was urgent so he booked me the next day to see him. I hesitated to book the appointment but felt pressured to do so since the doctor told me it was urgent. I went the next day and waited 1 hour in the waiting room, again, and finally had my name called. The nurse read the chart and said I was there for a follow up to the biopsy that was done a week ago. I said, “No, I was there to have a mole frozen off.” She said the records showed that I was there for a follow up. I was questioned her paper work so she handed me the pre printed paperwork. Sure enough, the paperwork said “follow up” and listed and the negotiated rate for the appointment. The doctor walked in at that moment and asked what I was there for. I told him, you looked at the chart didn’t you. He respond with “no, not yet.” He then looked at my mole and said everything was healing correctly. I said to him, “Dr. Rau, you called me and told me to come in immediately, because you wanted to freeze this off.” He then said, “It’s my professional opinion that I go to an urologist to get this laser off.” I was in shock! I couldn’t believe what was going on. Not only, did he just scam me for more money but he couldn’t remember what he said. He just wanted more money! He said he would have his nurse call the urologist, whom I’m sure he was getting a kick back from for referring, and then left the room. Dr. Rau is not only a scam artist but an unethical, immoral doctor! He knows exactly what he is doing and he is not only taking advantage of his patients, but his elderly patients as well –just to improve his financial portfolio since he will be retiring soon. He is a disgrace to the medical community and I highly recommend that he practice be investigated and shut down.

Dr. Rau takes his time with his patients. For a dermatologist this is very important. He is extremely thorough, which is what you want for someone looking for skin cancer. He found a spot on my sideburn that could have been very easily missed. It was skin cancer. He was very professional in telling me. He referred me to a great plastic surgeon and I had the spot removed. My entire family now sees him. Even my parents drive an hour to see him. I think he is very professional. His old staff were not the best. You often had to wait a long time, but since he has combined his practice with another, the staff there is very good and the wait time is very minimal.

Went there - receptionist was very rude and unhelpful. I tried to do a walk in, but was told they ran on an appointment basis. Since that is understandable, I asked when the next opening was. I went there on the 23nd of Oct. and was told the next available opening was in the middle of Nov. The doctors werent even there on a day where they listed they were open, which is just ridiculous. Dont waste your time by going here - if they arent going to even have doctors in they should at least announce it or take that day off their operating hours. If you want to get better business, Id suggest retraining your receptionist in basic customer service.

Expect a 45 minute wait till youre seen on every single appointment. Go in at 2pm. Doctor sees you at 3pm and youre out at 3:05pm. If my son didnt already have appointments set up to freeze a wart I would not be here
