I was referred to Womankind by my family doctor because I had questionable results from a PAP. I made an appointment with Dr. Elkhairi, who is no longer with the practice. I took the time off of work for the appointment in which I was supposed to have a procedure done to look closer into my prior PAP results. I got there and was told that Dr. Elkhairi had to leave to deliver a baby. The staff did not even try to call me to tell let me know my appointment would have to be changed. The staff rescheduled me for two weeks later, which was her next opening to have time to do my procedure. When I arrived, they said that Dr. Elkhairi was not in, she had pulled her back out. Once again I had missed half a day of work. The staff could have called me to let me know the doctor was out of the office, they had plenty of time, considering my appointment was in the afternoon. At this point I was very frustrated, but thought it may take a while to get in to see another doctor. They rescheduled me with Dr. Elkhairi. For this appointment, I called ahead to make sure she was in the office. I got to the office about 15 minutes early and waited and additional 30-45 to see the doctor. Once I was in the room where I would meet with the doctor, I waited another 20 minutes. She came in and asked me what was going on (she had not looked at my chart), she told me that the procedure room was occupied and I would have to reschedule! I couldnt believe the lack of professionalism of this office. At this appointment she did give me a prescription for two different hormones with 6 refills each. She said we could see how I was doing on them when I came back for my procedure. At this point at least a month had past, I think my family doctor sent me to a specialist because he was concerned with my PAP results and was thinking that I would be seen quickly incase there was a serious problem. I should have called my family doctor after my second attempt at seeing the "specialist", but hindsight is 20/20. I eventually got in and had my test done and the results were fine. Recently, to add more frustration from the Womankind office staff, I had a problem with one of the two prescriptions with getting a refill. Im not sure what happened, but I had 4 refills left on one of the hormones and zero left on the other. I called for 3 weeks trying to get the problem straightened out. At first the staff told me there wasnt anything they could do because Dr. Elkhairi was no longer with the practice. I pushed and kept calling until they said they would help me. They wanted me to come in to see a new doctor before they would fix the prescription problem, I dont know how I did it, but after weeks of me calling they finally agreed to write a prescription that I could pick up. They said they couldnt call my pharmacy to fill this particular prescription (mix of hormones), so I would need to come in and pick it up. Fine, I am going to pick up the written prescription today. If it isnt there I think I am going to lose my cool. I have put up with so much from their office, doctor missing appointments, phone calls not being returned, misinformation, lack of common courtesy and loss of time from work. I will be calling my family doctor to get another referral to another practice and this time I will read the REVIEWS first, before making an appointment.

Worst experience ever. Long waiting times, unprofessional staff, and was treated like a number rather than a patient by Dr. Vieta. Each appointment with her felt rushed and she was not personable at all. I originally went to her office for a Paragard insertion, which she immediately said no to. She kept saying she doesnt put those in women who havent had children yet, but she wouldnt explain why. She recommended hormonal IUDs instead, which I was not interested in as I had been on Depo Provera shots in the past and hated the hormones side effects. She said my symptoms might go away since IUDs are a more direct method and I figured she refused to insert Paragard for a legitimate medical reason, so I had her insert the Skyla IUD. The symptoms I had been experiencing with the Depo before this continued and did not go away, so after 4 months I called her office to have it removed. The receptionist informed me that I would need to set a consultation appointment first since Dr. Vieta doesnt like removing IUDs if its been less than a year. Dont you just love spending money on unnecessary doctors appointments to go over things youve already considered and have decided for yourself? The day of the appointment, the receptionist tells me that Dr. Vieta isnt going to remove my IUD. I said "I know thats not happening today, its just a consult," to which she replied "No, I mean she told me that shes not going to remove it, period. She wanted you to know before you waste your money on a copay just to be turned down." I have never been so furious in my life. First of all, I am a working student who doesnt get time off. I work every day, whether its at school or my sales job. Any time I set an appointment for anything, my entire schedule is thrown off, and to make this work, I had to skip an important chemistry lecture that day. I figured it would be worth it since Id be going to the doctor. But now, 20 minutes before my appointment, which I scheduled weeks ago, she tells me this is a waste of my time? Secondly, this my body. This is my decision. If I dont want something inside of me that you put there, I feel its your responsibility to take it out! There are no risks associated with removing IUDs before a year. They are designed to be taken out at any point in time. I started crying in front of the receptionist because my day felt wasted, and I was seriously tired of the havoc these hormones were wreaking on my body. I asked her "well then who am I supposed to go to to get this removed? I dont want it." She said "I dont know, Planned Parenthood." I immediately called them up and set a date to have both my IUD removed and a Paragard IUD inserted. Crazy how easy it was considering Womankind was a fight every step of the way. First she dismisses the reason I came into her office for the first time, pushed a contraceptive method on me I didnt want, then refused to get rid of what I was uncomfortable with in the first place. Completely horrible experience, totally unprofessional, wouldnt recommend to anyone.

Where do I begin? What a horrible experience. I went in for a relatively simple problem. Despite giving a detailed account of my symptoms, half of my symptoms were ignored and I was prescribed a medication that actually does not treat my issue. When I called to tell them that my symptoms were not improving they kept telling my they were waiting for test results (3 days later). I told them that I believe I have a secondary infection and they completely blew me off and told me to go to another doctor because they dont treat that. I went to another doctor, got test results within 15 minutes and received the CORRECT prescriptions. The other doctor was appalled at the lack of care and follow through of this doctors office. The office staff was rude and dismissive and cut me off every time I attempted to speak. The doctor was very polite however but unfortunately they did not use the proper medical tools to diagnose and treat my problems. What a joy to have to pay 2 copays for 2 doctors visits and also double pay copays for medications. Live and learn.
