I had LASIK by Dr. Stahl in January 2015. I am pretty pleased with my results. Im unusual in that I had a lot of pain after the procedure. I did not feel anything during the procedure but pressure, but in the hours after the procedure and through to the next day, I had an extreme amount of pain and stinging. I think the pain may have been due to an allergy to the antibiotic drops which caused severe stinging in my eyes. I think my eyes were already sensitized to pain from the drops, and then cutting them elicited the severe pain on already sensitized/irritated conjunctiva. As far as my vision, the first week/week and a half, I had a lot of blurry vision, most likely due to ocular migraines--so it was hard to tell how improved my vision was until a few weeks later. I also had large subconjunctival hemorrhages in both eyes from the microkeratome that took about 2 months to resolve (still have a very small one near my iris 10 months out). I looked like I had Ebola. My vision now, 10 weeks out, is much improved compared to what it was without correction before the procedure. My only disappointment is that I saw street signs and highway signs better with my glasses than now after LASIK. They are more blurry and harder to see, but I can still guess pretty well what they read--and see them clearly when I get closer up on them. Dr. Stahl said it is a difference in contrast that people experience after LASIK that they are unable to measure well with their tools. My vision is still pretty functional despite not being extremely crystal clear. Dr. Stahl was really great with answering my multitude of questions before the procedure and he even took time in an extra appointment to answer my questions. My criticism would be that after the procedure, I would wait 2+ hours at my follow up appointments to be seen and had questions about my healing and vision, yet he would spend less than a minute seeing me, would interrupt me mid-question, and tell me that I should tell all my friends and family about my results. It seemed that AFTER the procedure, he was more concerned with promoting his business, rather than my concerns as a patient. A doctor should always strive to provide the best service as possible to his patients--and that includes being available for questions (both before and after a service is rendered). When a doctor interrupts to make a comment to promote his business--or is on the edge of his seat and/or walking out while you are still asking questions and still have questions to ask, it gives the impression that he does not care as much about you as a patient, assuring your questions are answered and your health concerns are addressed, as he does his business and gaining more "customers." So, my biggest recommendation to Dr. Stahl is to remember his bedside manner--and at least do a better job of acting like he cares about you and your questions and concerns as a patient in the 1 minute he is in the room, rather than being on the edge of his seat, interrupting you to encourage you to promote his business, and walking out while you are still in the midst of asking your questions. Remember why you became a doctor. I hope you became a doctor to care for and serve people first--rather than gaining a fortune from them. My sister had Dr. Stahl for LASIK. My mom had Dr. Knowles. From my mothers experience, it seems maybe Dr. Knowles portrays a better and more caring bedside manner than Dr. Stahl (doesnt interrupt your questions in the short encounter and not as much urgency in promoting the business). He comes across as more empathetic and not rushing people outside the door. Mom never felt like he was on the edge of his seat, waiting to leave the patient encounter, and he wasnt walking out of the room while she was talking with him. Thus, if I were to do it over again, I would probably go with Dr. Knowles for his bedside manner--unless Dr. Stahl improves in this area--as having a very caring doctor (care>business orientation) is important to me.

I have dreamed of having perfect vision for many years but was afraid that the procedure would be painful, disgusting, or that I would have an anxiety attack. None of these were even close to reality. The staff was friendly and down right bubbly, making me feel comfortable and at ease during the thorough consultation. Dr. Stahl similarly put me at ease with explaining everything and answering many questions...and I had a lot! The day of surgery was simply no big deal. Look at the light, listen to the music, a few drops in the eyes, youre done. (Thanks, Ashley for holding my hand). It was painless and a non event for anxiousness or anything else. Besides the great service and great results, I want to especially thank the person who worked with me on scheduling surgery so that I could attend a once in a lifetime event without having to wear the required post-surgery safety goggles AND I could wear make up and feel human :-) You all truly care about each patient and it shows in all you do. Thank you to ALL at Stahl Vision. You are rock stars!

I had lasik two weeks ago at StahlVision and I am doing fantastic! Dr. Stahl and his staff are super friendly and professional! They treated me like a superstar the day of my lasik surgery. And they even helped my fiance pull off his surprise marriage proposal without me having a single clue! My fiance texted me the morning of the surgery and asked "Are you ready for your life changing day?" He had a double meaning to it BUT my lasik experience really WAS life changing. Its so amazing to wake up and not have to fiddle with glasses or contacts. I still find myself occasionally going to grab for glasses out of habit. Then my heart does a little happy dance when I realize I DONT NEED THEM ANYMORE! I cannot thank you enough Dr. Stahl and your AMAZING staff! I wouldnt recommend ANYWHERE else to get lasik eye surgery! :-)

Had lasik in may of 14 ..best thing Ive done...honestly I would pay double for the vision correction that I received. I was skeptical and didnt know what to expect. Ill be honest it was uncomfortable the moment they do the procedure (all other times are comfortable and accommodating)...i liken it to going to the dentist. Now at night the first week(and first day) you have to have protective Eyewear and this sucks basically even though u get used to it. ...the results have taken me from terrible vision to better than 20/20...also I heard rumors my close visions would suffer but they remained perfect. I would do it again if I had to. Thanks Dr Stahl. I would use stahl over knowells just because I know stahls results....A+

I am a health care professional in the Dayton, Ohio area. I was considering Lasik surgery and excited to see if I was a candidate. My first visit to the Stahl Vision Center included the free eye exam, a thorough explanation of the procedure, and a meeting to discuss options for payment. I was very impressed with the process and I felt like everyone was experienced and cared about me as a patient. Less than 48 hours later I am submitting this review. I would recommend anyone who is interesting in Lasik to go no further than Stahl Vision. My overall experience was great and my vision is fantastic. I feel the price was very reasonable and not having to wear glasses make it all very worth while.
