My family has been going to Companion Pet Clinic for over 20 years! They had seen our family dog for 16 years! Dr. Sonny and his staff showed nothing but compassion for all of our animal throughout the years. We also received a bereavement card, signed by all and personalized, after we had to put our family dog down. What compassion Dr. Sonny and his staff showed, dont you think? Then there was our cat who became severely ill unexpectedly. Dr. Sonny did EVERYTHING possible to help figure out what happened to her, but ultimately it was decided that in the best interest of the cat, to end her suffering. Dr. Sonny, again, showed nothing but compassion during this difficult time for our family. I cant speak for everyone, because everyone looks and has different expectations and standards for their animals. Our animals are part of the family and I think our expectations were pretty high as far as quality care goes. If you dont like his honesty when it comes to a diagnosis or dont want to pay for testing that could be costly up front then you shouldnt be surprised when he cant diagnose something that would require an expensive test. He is honest and upfront and because he cares a lot for the animals Im surprised people are upset about this. Dont you want someone to tell you straight up front whats wrong? He is advocating for your pet/family member. And this is a bad thing? He is very affordable and tries the easiest diagnosis first. When that doesnt work, he will try something different. I also have to say that, its hard for me to read the reviews that are negative about Dr. Sonny. We saw Dr. Sonny for a number of ailments (food allergies, hip dysplasia, cysts, general things that go wrong with senior dogs and more) with our animals over the 20 years we have seen him and I never had any of the experiences with him or his staff. Its like people went there and saw someone else.

I came here once in the summer in 2008, then again today. And I, well, Im reading the reviews of Sonny... Compassionate? Soft-spoken? Not the impression I got. Perhaps I caught him on a bad day. Yes, he is straightforward... I wont argue that, and he is honest, to a fault even. But he also talked over me, was abrupt, and insinuated that I cared more about my pets exterior than interior... Which, might I add, is the FURTHEST from the truth. After asking me a series of questions, he left the room and never returned. I was under the impression he would come back and we would continue to discuss my pets health. I understand the "Companion" concept, ive been to the 82nd one many times. Quick, low cost, efficient animal care... But I guess I felt me and my pet were stiffed... I also wish he would have talked to me about methods before having staff simply inject my sick pet multiple times. Were pills not an option? I think briefing me would have been appropriate. At least tell me what youre doing! Will I go back? Yes. Ill give this place another shot. The staff was friendly, and the office, one of the cleanest, nicest Companions ive seen. The price is also hard to beat... Maybe he was just having a hard day... Maybe next time ill see some of that Sonny "kindness" and "compassion" ive read about here...

Our family dog is dead. I took him in on Tuesday, he was given fluids and an antinausea shot, as he wasnt eating and couldnt hold down water. Dr. Sonny did x-rays but admitted he couldnt get the best veiw because the dog was not put under when they were done. He saw to tiny, "organic particles" in his intestine, with gas and behind it. He was reassurring that it would pass. I took my dog back on Friday and was given antibiotics and anti-nausea meds because he was still not holding down even water. Saturday morning after trying to give Ziggy the antibiotic he threw up and this continued through the day, despite the antinausea meds. By Sunday when we took him to Dove Lewis, they quickly tested and said he was having organ failure and died of liver failure. Thanks for really looking into what was going on Companion. Do a blood test when you are not sure. Maybe this post will save a loved family pet. Either go somewhere else or take your loved one for a second opinion.

I have been going here for the last 4 years. I have a Pit Bull and she is always well received, by the staff and Doctor Sonny. She had to have her ligaments restructured due to an injury caused by jumping for a ball. He explained everything in detail, and made sure I understood all my options..He has always come across to me as a professional. He has somewhat a wry/dry sense of humor, and his nature may come across as "un-caring", but he tells it like it is and does not sugar coat anything.; which he shouldnt. My dog absolutely adores him! and he knows how to handle her. I like the man, and I believe he is in his calling. He has a great magic oil healing ointment, which is his own recipe, and it works wonders on all sorts of things! but I have to agree, they will close up shop early if he sees fit, and that has caused some major headaches, since i have to arrange for a ride or taxi~ which isnt cheap, especially if the dude isnt there like he is supposed to be.....

My beloved dog died and I believe in part it is because of the mediocre, if not blatently negligent, care that we received at this vet. After two days in the hospital, the vet told me that my dog was getting better and had me come pick him up to go home. My dog could barely walk in to meet me he was so weak, and by the end of the vet meeting, my dog couldnt even stand up. I had to carry him out. The vet assured me this was not a concern. Within an hour of getting home my dog passed away. The vet at this clinic probably isnt "bad" but on a scale of one to ten I would give him a five at best. My dog needed better. If your pet does too, I strongly suggest you find another place to go.

This place is great and staff way better than st johns vetererinary clinic, we took our 18 year old dog after st johns vet cause his sickness by not giving a good care, and they had been way better!! Also took my cat fatso, looked like he was dying, turned out he had an infection and the same day after a shot they gave him, the cat was great again!!, please if you care about your pets dont take them to st johns vet clinic, they are the reason why our dog ia dying, they didnt have the proper care after his operation and cause his health to go really bad, now its took late for him to recover. Would recomend Companion Pet Clinic as my first option, if we ever get another dog.

Top-notch physician and caring humanitarian. Weve taken our evolving herd of animals (cats and dogs) to Sonny since the late 1990s. He takes the time to walk through his thinking on a diagnosis with you -- and I suppose if youre the type that just wants someone to hold your hand and make everything happy, hes not the right doctor for your pets. But if want to truly understand your pets health, and be part of making an informed, clinical decision, then Sonny is a good fit. Hes also a tremendously compassionate doctor, and in the several cases where we have made end-of-life decisions for our cats and dogs, I couldnt ask for a better caregiver -- top notch!
