If you are considering LASIK - DO IT!!!! I am 48hrs post-op and so excited about my results. TLC has been amazing! Ive wanted corrective eye surgery for years but something has always stood in my way. After working with my Optometrist, she recommended TLC (who did her surgery). So if Optometrists are going there, thats where I wanted to go. The consultation was easy and no pressure (Thanks Alberta and Angie!). I received all my pre-op stuff, which was very straightforward. I was required to be without contacts for 2 full weeks. I actually did 4 weeks because I had to move my appt back (my doing, not TLCs). My prescriptions were called in to my pharmacy, and picked up ahead of time (no issues there!). Any questions I had (which were few) were answered quickly via email. Day of surgery was a breeze. Consents signed, paid for treatment, and got my pre-op meds. The relaxation meds were kicking in and I met the Dr who was actually doing the surgery. Got into the surgery suite, and down on the table. I didnt feel a thing! In and out in just a couple of minutes. The worst part was just a bright light in my eye that you cant move away from. So, having a laser open my eye, eye lids opened up, and laser lens correction....yes, the WORST part was just a bright light. Yes, its that easy!!!! No pain, no discomfort, NO PAIN!!!!! Following the surgery was exactly how they described. A bit fuzzy vision, like being in a smokey room, or kind of underwater, but I still could read the clock on the wall and see my wife in the next room. I slept in the car and took a nap when I got home. 3hrs later I awoke and could see across the room, still a little fuzzy, but I could see!!! Then I realized I still had my protective eye shields on. Taking those off and feeling kind of stupid, I could now see amazing! WOW!!! I was able to drive myself to the post-op appt the next day and seeing better than 20/20. 48hrs later, my eyes feel great, seeing great, no issues whatsoever. I am so happy I finally did this. Worth every penny! I would do it again in a heart beat. Thanks TLC Eye Center!

Great results, but get your information elsewhere. I had LASIK at TLC in Tigard yesterday. Today, I can see 20:15. AMAZING! The experience was as pleasant as it could be (which, as they said, really was no worse than getting a tooth drilled), and the staff was very personable and professional. My one annoyance was with how they dealt with questions on potential complications and risk. Dr. Dawne Griffith, the staff optometrist (not the surgeon), kept telling me that my risks were ridiculously low. Well, 1 in 100, 1 in 500, and 1 in 10,000 are all low in absolute terms, but Id rather know which one of these represents my likelihood of permanent vision loss, wouldnt you? Dr. Griffith seemed quite knowledgeable, but for some reason insisted on pushing reassurance instead of information. To be fair, Im a biologist, so my penchant for numbers may not be universal. After looking into the risks on my own, I ultimately went with TLC because my optometrist recommended them, and because, well, the consult was free. I am extremely pleased with my results and my experience overall. I would just suggest that, if youre looking for balanced information, get your facts elsewhere. ADDENDUM: I mentioned the above to my optometrist, and asked further as to why she recommended TLC. She mentioned that one of the biggest risk factors is thin corneas (LASIK shaves off corneal matter to correct its shape, but too-thin corneas can collapse, requiring a corneal transplant). Apparently TLC is more conservative than other facilities, and will actually turn away your business if your corneas are too thin and youre not a good LASIK candidate. Less conscientious practitioners will take your money anyway and just keep their fingers crossed.

I had Laser Corrective Eye Surgery in Chicago, Illinois. I had my follow up visits at the TLC Eye Center in Tigard. The doctors and staff are attentive and caring. Im not sure if their TLC stands for Tender, Loving, Care, but certainly if it does, their staff lives up that that acronym.
