Our Sheppard bit our 5 month old Morkie, we rush him to this hospital and are brought right in the, Dr. didnt spend more than 5 min with Charlie before telling us the injury hit 2 nerves. Charlies head is tilted and his eyes were twitching back and forth, this is how he knew the nerve was hit. He told us Charlie would not recover without brain damage hed likely not ever lift his head and would basically be a vegetable. We asked again how he can be sure and he said "Look we can keep him for 1200.00 he would need a 2000.00 MRI to be sure and blood work etc. that we were looking at, at least 5 grand to find out what hes telling us now" We were devastated, we actually thought but didnt know for sure that it was just going to be his ear torn, so as we absorbed this horrifying news and contemplated having to put him down and where to bury him based on this Dr.s blunt matter of fact I happen to know attitude. The Dr. left the room. A woman - Dr. or Nurse Im not even sure- came in and said he cant tell any of that without an MRI, that she has seen dogs in worse shape that have taken a blow to the head and walked out the next day and that 1 nights stay can make all the difference. That they had Charlies temp up (it dropped due to shock, yes we had him wrapped and kept pressure on his wound, but he lost a lot of blood) and he was breathing well. 1 nights stay would only be about 600.00 So we of course went with that choice, by morning Charlie stood, tried to walk, had a bowel movement and a wobbly head, a swollen eye that wouldnt blink but he was wagging his tail and was happy to be here. Charlies bill was 689.00 We took Charlie the next morning to his regular Vet told him about our experience and we all shook our heads in disbelief. Did this Dr. not want the business of saving our dog? No I did not misunderstand the Dr.s words. There were 4 of us in the room, until another family member came in and put a stop to all that talk and kept saying we have to try, we have to pray, hes young. I told this family member to just stop you didnt hear what he said. He countered with more questions and told us this was the same Dr. that only a few months ago told his son similar news about his puppy who ate insulation by accident and would not survive, they did not take this Dr.s advise, 1700.00 dollars and 4 months later youd never know anything happened to that puppy. This is an Emergency Hospital and if it werent for the woman Dr./Nurse and the persistence of a family member who experienced this guy before we may well have put our adorable spunky Charlie down believing this guy. Charlie was released from his Vet by 5 oclock the next day.. 125.00.. didnt even stay over night! his head is steadier hes eating, peeing, pooping, not loosing his balance anymore. We still have to give him time to heal and for swelling to go down in eye area but he is far from a vegetable and thrilled to be home and so are we. a mere 800.00 Owner beware.. ask questions and dont assume because someone has a degree even a PHD that theyre smart or caring. Worst day ever. Big Thanks to the Woman, Sorry I dont know names or even her position.

I have never taken the time to write a Google review so this should help accentuate my frustration level. If I could give this facility zero stars I would. I have owned several animals in my life, and like any other animal lover I care very deeply for my pets. My cat unfortunately ate something outside that was exposed to some kind of chemical. We brought my cat to this ER is hopes that we could trust them to not only take care of our cat but that they would be able to provide us with information as well as provide us with a solution. After waiting in the waiting room for hours, we had to ask for frequent updates since no one took the time to give them to us. We asked a few questions to several different nurses and every time they answered, "Im not sure." After several tests we were already up to a $700 bill. They finally came to the conclusion that it was some kind of rat poisoning. They said that they would then give us an estimate on how much it would cost to keep her over night since she was in critical condition and also how much it was going to be to TRY and fix her. Again, we waited for a very long time to where we had to go and ask if they remembered that we were still here. Finally a nurse came back with an estimate starting at $2,500 to $3,300 to ATTEMPT to save our cat. These numbers were quite a shock. Our animals are our family so to put a number to save our pet was hard to swallow especially since we do not have that kind of money laying around. We told the nurse in tears that we did not have that kind of money so she proceeded to tell us that our cat was in critical condition and this was what it would cost. Please keep in mind that we were crying and emotional at this news and there was ZERO apathy coming from this nurse. She then left to go get the doctor since she couldnt answer our questions. The doctor then proceeded to come in and just re literate what the nurse said and again, zero empathy. Not once did they mention that this ER offered a payment plan for bills exceeding $200. The only way we found out about it is because I found a small sign in the corner behind the sink. Im not asking for pity but to not inform us that this was an option really confuses me, especially seeing how devastated and emotional we were. I would think that since they are exposed to this kind of emotion frequently that they would have been much more accommodating and understanding. These treatments that were costing us thousands of dollars were also not guaranteed to work. The lack of knowledge, information and honesty is quite concerning. I cant even begin to explain my disappointment. I will never bring any of my animals here again.

I had a similar negative experience as "A Google User" below. While most of the staff were pleasant in my "middle-of-the-night" visit, one male vet/vet tech was particularly negative and accusatory. I brought my diabetic cat in one night because he showed signs of insulin shock. He was not responsive to me; he was not eating; his head was moving in a circular motion; he was disoriented (circling with his body and getting stuck in odd places). All classic signs of insulin shock. The male vet asked if I had given too much insulin or perhaps given twice the amount. I said it was possible that I made an error, but in the last 8 months, I had not done so. My cats blood glucose was dangerously low: 40! They gave my cat an IV of glucose, but when the vet suggested keeping him overnight and running more tests that would including other tests (even a heart test) and run over $1,000! I had to decline. I cried in the office because the vet basically said if I took my cat home, he could die. He was accusatory in that he blamed me for the low-blood-glucose and then he PERSISTED in telling me I was not making good decisions for my cat. He told me I HAD to MISS work the following day and bring my cat in immediately to my own vet. I was aghast. What right did this vet have to make decisions like this for me? Long story short: MY CAT SURVIVED THE NIGHT! And is still alive today! A diabetic cat who is in remission! Yep. My cat no longer needed insulin. The night he went into shock, he probably had NORMAL blood glucose and when I injected him, his blood sugar dropped. Lantus insulin has such a high rate of remission, but it also has the highest rate of insulin shock, or hypoglycemia. So I had NOT given too large a dose. I was not to blame (except for the fact that I could have been monitoring my cats glucose at home, but my own vet did not require this). My final conclusion of the experience: You will be helped by this hospital. You will pay. And you may even be cajoled into paying for things that are not necessary. And last, but not least, there is a chance you will be chastised and humiliated by the staff.
