This vet is very pushy with expensive treatments. Every visit be prepared to deal with this. In short they could not get anything right with my two dogs. My one dog has serious allergy issues. This vet was in way over there head and could not fix my dog. Never really recommended anything useful. I will never recommend this vet. They didnt even offer allergy testing. They did come recommended but I dont think they are that experienced with special cases. Allergies are common place. You cant tell me they didnt see something like this before. With this allergy test they tell you exactly what your pet is allergic to and exactly what food they can eat. It isnt cheap, $300. But compared to the numerous vet visits it is. The time wasted was invaluable to my dog. If your dog is having serious problems with skin, itching, sneezing, runny nose etc. Get your dog an allergy test and get them fixed. Food might help, but, my dog is allergic to grass, weeds, trees, alfalfa, cotton, rabbit. You get the point. The recommendation of food was a broad category at best. Get them tested. Its fast and you find out the results in a week. After that you do have to give shots every other day to start. Yes, it is a pain, but, its allot better than guessing. If your dog is allergic to one thing then you know exactly what it is, no guessing. My other dog. Constant red eyes. I got the Schirmers test done. "Your other dog has dry eye to" says the vet. Anyone out there that has a dog with dry eye knows what I am talking about. My wife took the dog to a vet optometrist. To make it short. There was nothing wrong with the dog. Her eyes are just a little red. No dry eye, no scratching, nothing. So, hundreds of dollars later there was nothing wrong with the dog. I stopped giving her the cyclosporin drops, really expensive by the way, noting wrong. If she really had dry eye you can tell, mucus coming out of the eyes, very dry eyes that you can see, stuck eyelids. She had none of that. Her tear ducts were fine. So the vet got 1 out of 2 right. I would call the guessing. To be fair they did get one thing right. We have a rescued greyhound that had serious diarrhea problems. It was simply worms. This vet did get that right. But, one out of three problems is pretty bad. I can guess better than that with the internet. This was our second vet as the first vet we took the dogs to was even worse. So now we are on our third vet and getting accurate results. To be fair we do have one dog with serious issues. It would have been nice for the vet to admit if they were in over there heads and not string me along. Cove Mountain Animal Hospital, they know what they are doing. The vet there knows what he is doing and will not BS you. First words from his mouth "Your dog is messed up, you certainly got a bad one" no BS I like that. Its true, my guy is messed up I knew that, he has problems that are just not normal. I needed someone who can fix him. Two visits and my guy is looking better and making progress. This is the first time I have ever seen a dog that has this many problems. This is not my first dog. I myself was in over my head. I was getting seriously frustrated and it almost came to the point of getting rid of the dog. Thats how bad his problems were. Maybe the vet at Gettysburg Road just was in over there heads to know what to do. I had numerous recommendations from others about this vet. My experience was not pleasant at all. I will never take my pets there again. If you have a dog with serious problems. Ask around and do more research. I clearly did not do enough research on my own. I thought the vet knew what they were doing. Do your own research and find out. I dropped the ball on that one. I shouldnt have let it go that long. So please, learn from my mistake and if you arent seeing results after two or three visits see another vet. If all they give you is a vague answer just see another vet. If your pet has allergies then there are ways to know exactly the problem and what you can do top fix it. Dont guess.

The staff and vets are just terrific. I would not take my golden to anyone else. They are always patient and kind with me, answering every question, and admitting when they dont know the answer, but doing everything in their power to find out. Having had previous poor experiences with other vets, I really appreciate not being told, "just do what I say" without explanation. If I have to give my companion medicine, I want to know what it is, why we are giving it to him, what it should do, and how he will react. I get answer to all these with the vets at Gettysburg Road Animal Hospital. We usually see Dr. Albin and I cant say enough nice things about him. I believe he cares for my Oliver almost as much as we do. We have seen Dr. Richards and Dr. Graham, who were both so great. The staff assistants couldnt be sweeter or more helpful. Oliver loves going to the vet because he is always greeted enthusiastically when we come in the door, and when the vet enters the exam room they always get down to his level and greet him. This is important to my golden because he would be beside himself with trying to say hi if they didnt, and Im sure it puts less enthusiastic pets at ease. Thanks!

I arrived to this place by mistake and Im sorry I did. I was on a road trip and stupidly forgot my heartworm medicine. My dog just had an annual exam and a heartworm test less than a month ago and I had my records with me. I called the Gettysburg animal hospital and explain what was going on and they indicated that they would be able to give me one month heartworm medicine if I had my vet records with me. My navigation took me to Gettysburg ROAD animal hospital. When I explain what happened LeeAnn was rude and uncaring and made an excuse that since they are not a licensed pharmacy they cant give me one heartworm pill unless their vet examined my dog. This is ridiculous since my dog was just examined by a licensed vet less than a month ago and I had my records with me. Their actions proved they had no concern for the well-being of animals. They didnt even greet my dog. I would recommending taking your pet for someone who cares about the animal more than making money.

I have been going there for three years and was always very pleased. My 4 pets saw Dr Kinneman and she is one of the better vets I have used in the last 15 years. I recently took my dog in for a dental cleaning. I know vet care isnt cheap, but the original estimate I was given was around $450. During the cleaning, Dr Kinneman called to inform me that my dog may need to have 2 teeth removed and it could raise my estimate $500-600. I okd it. They only ended up removing 1 tooth, so I was very surprised when I picked up my dog and the bill was almost $1200. When I spoke to the office manager about the bill later, I was told that it was "an unfortunate miscommunication" but the bill was correct and wouldnt be changed even though the I was told the wrong amount. Dr Kinneman is a good vet, unfortunately the practice is not so I can no longer recommend it. Beware if you take your pet in there for anything more than a routine visit.
