Battle Ground Hospital for animals provided excellent care and boarding for my two dogs for 10 years. The only complaint I had was that we could not pick up our dogs from boarding on Sunday, so we had to pay for an extra night of boarding, even though we did not need nor want it. But, we were very happy with the care our dogs were given so BGHA was our first choice for their care. My family was transferred to FL with my husbands company in November 2016. My daughter and I and our 2 dogs had to evacuate due to hurricane Irma earlier this month. Life happens. We were on the road in grid lock traffic for a total of 2 days making our way back to Franklin to stay with friends. I called BGH for animals to make sure they had room for my dogs. They did and I booked them for Friday, Sept. 8th-Tuesday Sept.12th. Now, for why I gave BGH a 2 star rating ( it would have been a 5 star). Yes, the staff and doctors are nice, friendly and good at what they do. Here was my problem. One of the front desk workers at BGHA called me while I was in grid lock just north of Chattanooga (due to many other evacuees). I told her that my ETA was around 6 pm (closing time for them). I stated that I would call her back once I got closer to Franklin, which I did. My ETA on my GPS was 6:07 pm. I called her back and told her my situation (which she already knew) but, I reiterated: hurricane evacuee, gridlock traffic, dont want to bring my dogs to my friends we are staying with, they have a cat. Only running 7 minutes past closing time. Driving like a bat out of @#%& to get there. The front desk workers only words to me? "Well we close at 6. We reopen at 7:30 am. We will see you then Ms. Frith". After 10 years of taking care of my pups and building what I thought was a good relationship, they would not wait 7 minutes! I was shocked. And I still am. I ended up finding another boarder. Crossroads Animal Hospital in Brentwood, TN. They would have taken my dogs that night, but my dogs vaccination records had already been faxed to BGHA from FL. I could not get them re-faxed to Crossroads because they were closed due to Irma by now. Not only would Crossroads have taken my dogs that night, but, they gave me an "evacuees discount"! God bless you Crossroads Animal Hospital. 5 Stars to Crossroads. 2 Stars for BGHA. Battle Ground Hospital for animals after 10 years of doing business with you. I remain deeply disappointed for your complete lack of compassion.

This will probably be more info than you need looking back over 13 & 1/2 years, but if youre looking for a long term review, here tis: I had been taking our "tweenie" dachshund Bash to the Russel bros. since he was 8 weeks old. He made it to 13 & 1/2 yrs., then I had to make the painful decision for his last "bye bye" trip there at Battleground the end of May (2016). Bash was our 1st pet, & he was actually rather low maintenance, so I had gotten pretty used to a routine of in/out yearly checkups, nail trims, no drama. Then Ill guess when he turned 8 maybe 9, he started developing lipomas. I really didnt understand why they were popping up & believed that one of them in particular was from a shot not administered correctly on top of a tech they hired at the time that wasnt very nice to him. So, I looked for another vet, that didnt work out, so I go back to Battleground & voiced my complaint/concern. They immediately told me that I should always insist on a vet/tech that Im comfortable with. My point is that though Im thinking that it was their fault for Bashs bumps, & though I know now thats not the case, they NEVER called me out on my ignorance, from then on we always had the vet/tech we trusted, & Basher rocked on. The week before Bash died he seemed to be his normal self & went in for a yearly checkup. After his checkup/booster, things started going wrong fast. And here I go again thinking it was the shot that was making him go down when in actuality, he had a bunch of problems that he hid well, & he just couldnt anymore. But I was NEVER pushed to do more testing, & though I wasnt really steered either way as to keep going with tests or put him down, though gentle & considerate, the advice I was given as to what to do next was STRAIGHTFORWARD which is exactly what I needed at the time. As we were going through that tough time, I consulted a long time friend that owned dachshunds for over 40 years. To sum it up, when I gave him the whole story, his response was, "Youve got you a GOOD vet there." My point is, the folks at Battleground are real deal professionals that beyond understand that your pet is your "little precious", & even though I couldnt see the big picture at the time, they were "the customer is ALWAYS right", right up to the end. So, long term; 5 stars.

We took our two puppies there the first time today because of all these great reviews we saw online and recommended by our breeder. Staff was helpful, but the assistant tech acted a little out of touch with the puppies. Overall felt rushed. Accused one of them of aggression and these puppies would not hurt a fly..its normal for a puppy to get nervous if the office handler does NOT know how to make him feel good and comfortable and give him praises for beeing so good in a place like that !!! They get scared you know...Hate to put it that way, but thats the truth...They showed NO affection towards our dogs and felt very transactional ; quick and very much on time I guess if thats what you care about, but not attentive towards them and their needs. Very little advice as if they did not know much about the special breed and this was our first visit with the puppies. No discussion about feeding or home care or anything like that..I have to say my first impression was average at best for this vet therefore the rating. Have been to other vets and wanted to try something close by with our new puppies. May go back there just because they are close by depending on cicumstances. You pay a premium for their services I assume because of the area you live in but dont get the value. I wont disclose what i payed in total, but 35$ for a box of whipes for their folds should give you an idea

If you want to overpay and be harassed this is your place!!! I rescue animals and based on how much it costs to get them fixed, up to date on vaccinations, and placed determines if I can rescue more. In this case I found a 3 month old kitten and I went around to find someone that would spay her for cheap/free. I went to Happy Tails animal rescue and they said they have a voucher that you can buy for $35 if you rescue animals and it covers a spay at multiple partners. Battleground was one of the partners and I chose them based on location. I got there and will say its very high-end with building design etc. So anyways I gave them the voucher, they got me to sign an estimate form saying there may be a couple more shots, and then I picked up the cat after... On top of the $35 they wanted $160! They said the $35 only covers the $70 spay and not all the sedation etc. So I said no and talked to the manager and he had no heart whatsoever and IS IN IT FOR THE MONEY$$$. They sent me immediately to collections over this bill and I was harassed in to paying it. I believe in Karma so for now Ill just never go back there and warn others. This place wants your money first and charges outrageous prices! So just be careful
