This place has got to be the biggest scam I have ever came in to contact with. My girlfriend brings a dog in a few days ago for them to take $1,000 dollars to give her pain medicine, take an X-ray, keep the dog over night, and tell her they think her neck is broken. So they give the animal back the next day after going up there for them to say, "Oh she is doing alot better, she is walking around and holding her head up, we think she just slipped a disk but make sure you make a follow up with a Vets office in the morning. We could not bring the dog anywhere that morning due to both of us working, but when I got home I walked into the house to hear her yelping at the top of her lungs laying on her neck and could not move. We bring the dog back to them that evening and asked if there was anything they could do for her or please figure out exactly what is wrong. Just for them to get smart with my girlfriend and ask for another $1000 because the "might" know what is wrong with her and she "might" need surgery. Im sorry but the $1000 the night prior wast good enough for them to figure it out then?!? Instead a bunch of "we think" and "maybes" is all we get. Then the decision of putting the animal to sleep... WoW Thanks for nothing and helping us put my dog to sleep for $1000. I hope the government shuts this place down like they did the dog pound on American Way for animal abuse. I would honestly, if I didnt work for a living" stand in front of this place 24/7 and beg people to not go in... Plus the women in there all look like the night shift women at a Kroger, beards, mustaches, hairy moles, etc...

This place is a rip off plain and simple..........What they charge you here would cost you is usually 4 to 8 times more than your regular vet, but you have no choice. If you have an emergency and you cant afford to save your dog, this place will "NOT" help you, unless you surrender your dog. They do not care if you can afford it or not. They will take your dog and you will never get it back. They also will hold your pet hostage until you pay them. Dont listen to their BS. They are a rip off clinic and only care about charging 4 to 8 times more and they have a bad habit of doing more to make more money than is necessary and this came from a lot of vets who agree this place is a rip off ....The person answering the complaints from this vet emergency is just trying to cover up what they do wrong. I have talked to tons of people who tell me that there regular vet said this place charges way too much for the same thing you can get done at your regular vet during regular business hours....This place is a rip off

Considering it was an emergency, I had a great experience with Animal Emergency Center and I would recommend them to anyone that needs emergency services. My dog, Willow, was bitten by another dog and needed staples. They did a quick exam and gave me a price-range estimate on the cost. I appreciated knowing what we were getting into. They assured me that my dog was in capable hands and that they would call me to pick her up after the surgery. A few hours later, she was ready to be picked up. They brought her out to us and explained that everything went well. Then they gave us some antibiotics and pain medicine and they made sure that we understood how much and when to give her the medicine. They also sent her paperwork over to our regular vet so we could do a follow up appointment the next day with our vet. The staff at AEC care very much about animals and they understand that they are our fur babies. I hope to not have another emergency - but if I do, I know exactly where to go!

When one of our rats, Peaches, was ready to go (last stages of an aggressive pituitary tumor) I was relieved to find somewhere that was open after hours. When your companion animal is suffering and there is nothing more you can do to ease their pain, then the best you can do is to ease their passing. I dont think we couldve done much better than Animal Emergency Center on Summer. The staff was courteous, helpful, and understanding. They even respected our request as to how our little Peaches was to be euthanized in order to limit the possibility of any more suffering on her part. A friend recommended this place to me, and even though I felt $65 to euthanize a half pound rat felt a little excessive, the fact that they were able to handle it at 3:30 AM was a godsend and made it worth every penny. I hope I never have to deal with a situation like this again, but at least now I know theres a place I can trust to handle it with care, compassion, and professionalism.

If I could give them less than 1 star I would. Last night I had to surrender my cat because he had broken his foot and I could not afford the surgery. I was told that the last thing they would do is euthanize him and that they wouldnt do it over something like a broken foot. I was told they would try to get him into another shelter before anything else. I called this morning to get an update and the lady who answered laughed at me for even calling. She then told me they had put him down because they didnt want to pay for it. I am very upset and I regret ever taking him there. He was perfectly healthy other than his foot and the sweetest thing. He did not deserve it and I hope these people pay immensely for what they have done. If you are about your animals or animals at all. stay far away from this god awful place.

Too much ambiguity at too great an expense. After $300 of tests, one would hope for more definitive analysis, but as Ive experienced too often in the past, the trend is to lead animal lovers on with a nebulas glimmer of hope, one step at a time resulting in monstrous bills and a dead pet in the end. In my decades of association with Vets, I understand that these are animal lovers who will do anything and everything to save the creature ... but fail to understand that most people to not have unlimited resources to fund such activity. In my life, I have only found one practical Vet who would be honest enough to tell the truth ... before charging $1200+ to the distraught pet owner and dragging on the inevitable grief. You have a terrific Staff ... but need to keep it real for working folks!

I took my cat here on a Saturday after 5 pm. My cat had some existing issues we had been dealing with for about a year and the problem had come to a head once again. Dr. Hannon examined him and even showed us the X-rays. He explained why the problem kept coming back and that it would likely never stop (adverse to what our normal vet had been telling us). It meant so much to actually know what was going on and that prolonging the inevitable was all we could do at this point. Knowing gave me a lot of closure even though we had to make the hard decision to take the pain away from him. The doctor and all the staff were so kind and patient with us. Without this vet being open I am not sure what would have happened. I am so grateful for everything they were able to do for us.
