Ive been seeing Dr. Kinard for a short time since relocating to Tennessee. Already I am very impressed! To give you a run down, I have 3 dogs ALL OF WHOM have medical issues! One is a schnauzer with insulin dependent diabetes and has had cataract surgery, another is a German Griffon who has discoid Lupus of the skin and hip dysplasia, and the last is a shih tzu who has bad knees and acid reflux! No one wants to know how much I spend on my dogs healthcare with insulin, medications, tests, special diets, etc! So I am all about a veternarian who will not nickel and dime me to death, I have to make my money stretch for 3 pets! This is not my first time to see Dr. Kinard. I researched many veterinarians in Murfreesboro and he was one of the only ones with such great reviews so I took a chance and started using him about a month ago. Already Ive seen him about 3-4 times for various reasons ranging from shot visits to acute issues! He just treated 2 of my dogs for a mysterious condition that attacked my dogs intestines. They started vomiting and having horrible bloody diarrhea! I had to rush my dogs in and they saw us promptly. He treated the dogs and medicated them and we were able to get home. He coached me on the findings. One had just a GI bug and was already on the upside, and the other one who was going down hill rapidly, had stress induced colitis from her buddy being sick (my other dog). He gave me options on treatments, more aggressive which included X-rays, etc or more symptomatic which was more affordable. He even suggested the cheaper of the options based on their symptoms. They followed up with me via phone 48 hours later to see how they were doing! I also had my shih tzus teeth cleaned not too long ago and they saved me a bunch of money! My dog is older and had many teeth that needed to come out. They cut me a deal since they came out easy and didnt require extra anesthetic! His teeth are AMAZINGLY white now and it was worth everything I spent! Im sorry the previous person had such a horrible experience. I do know that Dr. Kinard is very highly recommended and that he tends to get LOTS of walk-ins and I will admit sometimes it slows timeliness, but hes worth every penny! I schedule appointments and it seems I get great timely service during the morning hours during the weekdays. Afternoons and evenings are definitely more busy. Comes with the territory.

I went here based on the good reviews on this page...but I had a bad experience. So I thought it was only fair to post that here too: My dog had not been acting/feeling well over the weekend. And even though she was acting normal again by our appointment time Monday morning, I just wanted to verify specifically that she didnt have a urinary tract infection. Dr. Kinard tested her urine (as well did a Giardia test, which having experienced that in the past, I knew she didn’t have). He found everything to be negative, but he still prescribed antibiotics and a wormer. A little strange. Then he told me she had a pretty significant heart murmur which could mean heartworms and that I had the option of several things ranging from $80- $160 like a chest x-ray or and EKG. (Even stranger, especially since she’s been on preventative since she was a puppy.) At that point, I was a little confused at why I needed so many meds for tests that came back negative...so I passed on the chest x-ray and left. (I also was later told by a M.D., who is also a hunting dog enthusiast, that giving antibiotics so unnecessarily to animals isn’t worth the risk.) Later on I took my dog to another vet to get a refill on her heartworm/flea/tick meds. They listened to her heart and heartworm tested her (apparently a heartworm blood test is only $40, compared to the $80 chest x-ray recommended by Kinard.). The new vet declared her “heart healthy” and sent me on my way. (Besides all that, Kinard seems like a perfectly nice guy... Unfortunately his treatment plan was just irrational and costly.)

We started going here based upon great reviews online and recommendations from co-workers. While Kinard is probably a good vet in practice, weve had awful experiences here. For starters, I think that they have outgrown themselves. Nearly every time we take our pets in (with an appointment), we generally still have to wait around an hour to get in. Even if we need to just stop in and pick up meds or food, there is still a wait. Another frustration is the apparent lack of organization and mixed-messages that we get. If we call or go in to ask questions about our pets conditions, we either get multiple different answers or kind of pushed aside. The breaking point for me though occurred when one of our pets was diagnosed with diabetes. We were told hardly anything before the doc rushed out except to give him 1 unit of insulin and feed him prescription food. I ended up having to do research on my own about doing glucose curves at home and regulating his blood sugar levels. I know Kinard has saved many animals lives, but I would strongly advise that you look elsewhere in Murfreesboro for you pet care. Im sure there are other great vets in the boro and were in the process of looking. The frustrations for us have far outweighed the benefits weve received.

I took my 1 year old pit bull to Kinard Creeekside today, within minutes of him being taken to the exam room, I heard the most excruciating noise, as I was on my to the exam room, the tech opened the door followed by 2 nurses and one of them asking what just happened. The male tech said he was trying to get my dog on the scale. His reply caused me corn because hes a trained pit bull and obeys all commands, so needless to say, his answer did Not sit well with me. The nurse(im assuming she was a nurse) suggested that she take him outside for a walk to calm him down. A few minutes later, she bought him back in the room to me, said he did good with his shots. The doctor came in shortly after and was going over the exam. I looked at my dog and noticed blood on his left eye and it was red and irritated! I ask what happened to his eye? I was told he must have done it when he was getting on the scale, WHAT WHO? How did he(the dog) do that to himself while getting on the scale?! I was told to give him some Benadryl and he should be ok. I left the office very unsattisfied because I still dont know what happened to him to warrant the loud noise he made, I can almost bet that had something to do with the his eye! I will Never go back there again!

I will never take my pets anywhere else ever again. Kinard Creekside Animal Hospital is the absolute best! My almost 10yr old male tom cat had begun to act lethargic, very weak, and couldnt eat or drink. I suspected he had gotten dehydrated?? As soon as possible I took him to Kinard for an exam and to possibly get some tests run to figure out just exactly what was wrong with him. About an hour later is when I got the bad news phone call that my baby had turned diabetic and was now in a diabetic coma. I couldnt stop crying on the ride back to the animal hospital. When I got there Dr. Kinard told me a personal story about how the same thing happened to one of his cats a long time ago. We discussed options and I decided it best to let him go because I couldnt stand to see him suffering any longer. Dr. Kinard and the ENTIRE staff were so compassionate about what I was going through, they went out of their way to make sure I was ok and for all that they all did I am ETERNALLY grateful!! I hate that my baby boy had to go through all of this, but I know that the caring staff made him as comfortable as possible in his last hours. I am definitely a lifelong client of Dr. Kinard!
