If there were 10 stars Id give that! Not only is this a very clean and very reasonably priced facility, but above all of that, I cant be more thankful that I stumbled upon this wonderful animal hospital on one of the worst days of my life. I had woken up early in the morning to find my normally healthy, irreplaceable, 13 yo cat, Marty, severely sick with blood dripping from his mouth and only moderately responsive. A local "emergency" animal hospital told us it was probably just a tooth and that they were closing soon so just take him to our regular vet when they opened. We had yet to establish one in our new area and I frantically googled (read reviews) and decided to take him to Avenue Animal. It was the positive reviews I read through tears and the image of a gray kitty (much like mine) on their site that made me head that way. As we pulled up, I realized I hadnt even called to say we were coming and realized they may turn us away. The receptionist was taken aback we showed up with an emergency situation, but said the doc was on her way in and could help us. The vet tech came out and took over from there. What I hoped was something minor and just a fluke for my steadfast furry friend, ended up being a terminal diagnosis. He was dying and Dr. Johnson, in her calm, comforting and incredibly empathetic way, said there was nothing they could really do. To no doubt humor my denial that putting my dear Marty to sleep was the best thing, she even offered an extreme option with a specialist that we all knew there really wasnt time for. They let me come back into the room to see my poor Marty who was practically in a coma at this point. I sat with him for almost 45m trying to decide what to do and not once did Dr. Johnson or the vet tech Morgan, leave our side nor once get impatient that I couldnt bear to make the decision to lay to rest my dear kitty. Not wanting to have his last moments be anywhere but in the sunshine, Dr. Johnson and Morgan brought out blankets and set me and my Marty up out in the grass in the sunshine to spend our last moments together. It was there that again, they offered such patience and tender words during the time I waited and was only prolonging the inevitable. It was there that I laid with my kitty as they helped him go peacefully to the Rainbow Bridge. A first time patient and her owner no doubt interrupted their regular scheduled appointments that morning, but never once did I feel or likely my Marty feel, anything but comforted and extremely cared for. I will forever be grateful that the one and only time my dear cat had a health issue was with this wonderful group of people and animal hospital. I had my Marty cremated and upon pick up received the sweetest, and most comforting card from the entire staff. Im sure they have plenty of patients that have been in my shoes, but their professionalism, clear empathy for pet owners and their precious pets was ever present and consistent throughout the ordeal. I cant be thankful enough and recommend wholeheartedly this fabulous place and Dr. Johnson to anyone who values their pet truly as a member of the family.

I just moved to Mount Juliet 2 months ago and was in need of a vet for my 5 year old shih tzu and 10 year old gray tabby cat (never been sick a day in his life). We took the cat for yearly shots to Avenue and they upsold me to a Seresto Flea collar for 65 bucks. They put it on his and a day in a half later he is litterally on his death bed...I rush him back over and they start diagnosing. Since it was a day apart, and a big coincidence, i mentioned the flea collar, and they said that they have had no issues and that it could be anything. At the time, he was lethargic, limp and had a 104* temperature. So they started performing tests and giving him fluids, but were not able to pinpoint a direct cause, Saying "it could be anything", when in my head, the only thing that has changed was you put this flea collar on him 36 hours ago. So they had to keep him 3 days overnight. In the meantime, i started googling about this Seresto flea collar and found that it was killing tons of dogs and cats all throughout the USA. Just google Seresto Flea Collar side effects or warnings Long story short, after a 200 dollar shot and flea collar bill, i was charged $700 dollars just to save my cats life. I asked them to return the flea collar and they told me "NO". So with that being said, that just shows me how much they truly care about their customers...I didnt fight them on the $700 bucks, but they (avenue) didnt even have the decency to take back a faulty product. I normally dont blog about any issues as a consumer, but this one ate at me so much, I had to share my experience to help save someone from going through the same situation.

I was very impressed with my and my Am Staffs first visit, for a second opinion on a limp with her hind left leg. Saturday, March 21st, After an exam and ex-rays, Dr Harris determined, my Lady Bug had a torn ACL. The first vet, acted like he did not want my business. An older vet, and "old school", because Lady was a senior, he said he would not recommend surgery. He put her on Rymadyl. when I went back for a refill, I told the nurse, she seemed worse. She said, shed let the vet know. I never heard a word. I had used the vet several years ago and felt he was a good vet. Dr Harris put Lady on an anti-inflammatory and pain med. Apparently Lady had an allergic reaction to the anti-inflammatory. Sunday night around mid-night, she thew up and begun to have a lot of bloody diarrhea. By it being late and she did not seem in distress, I monitored her and called Avenue, the first thing Monday morning. They said to bring her on in and theyd check her out, I did. The anti-inflammatory had caused her HGE, she was very dehydrated. They put her on an IV and started treating her with antibiotic injections, keeping her overnight. She did improved, but they didnt feel it was enough to send her home. They kept another night to make sure her improvement was enough to send her home. I brought her home Wednesday. They were wonderful. They told me to let them know in a few days how she was doing. And the facility was clean and very modern, friendly to human and animal. They are going to be my go to vet. Avenue took very good of my previous cat, Sassy until she ran away. A friend of my daughters had 2 little girl kittens. She took one and I took the other. They both had surgery for spay and declaw at the same time. I took mine to Avenue and she took hers to another vet. I took mine home with no bandages and did not have to take her back unless a problem, and I have not had to. She came home with her kitten in bandages on her paws for a week and had to take her back to get bandages off and after 2 weeks to take out stitches on her stomach. My little cat is doing great and my daughter has had to take hers back twice for infection in her paws where they have had to put bandages back on and wear for 1 more week and wear her cone for 2 more weeks. She did not even get to talk to the doctor until she took her kitten back after infection has set in. I think this shows how Avenue really takes care of our pets compared to some other vets. I am very pleased and will continue to take my pets there for I know they will take care of them.
