My dog Little Boy got sick Saturday and my regular vet could not get him in so I came here to search for a recommended vet and Gully animal hospital was the top rated one. So I went with them. I wish I hadnt. I took Little boy in and already had an idea of what was wrong. He had subcutaneous emphysema. Little boy was fairly bloated because of his condition and Dr. Francis took an X-Ray to give a better prognosis. He then came back and said due to the amount of air already trapped in his skin he was unable to determine if there was a tear in his trachea and if thats where the air was coming from. He then said the likeliness of him surviving this was not good. I then advised him that I wanted to euthanize him, as I didnt want my baby to suffer. Dr. Francis left and then came back and said we should give him a fighting chance. They had had my baby on oxygen and his levels were at 90% and that was good considering his condition and they are typically at 98%. I felt a glimmer of hope and prayed that he would get better. Dr. Francis kept him on oxygen and then gave him a pain medication shot and sent me home with tramadol to administer for pain while at home. I brought my baby home and as the time passed I came to grips with the fact he would not make it through the night. I took Little Boy in to Gully animal hospital at 5:30PM and left at 7:30PM at 10:50 PM he has suffocated to death because of his condition. The one thing I wanted to avoid was exactly what happened. In retrospect I wondered if it was cheaper to euthanize him rather than put him on oxygen, give him a shot of pain medication, send him home with additional pain meds and false hope. I dont know for certain why Dr Francis did what he did but what I do know is that I do not want anyone to ever experience my pain and sadness. I received a follow up call from Dr Francis on Sunday morning when I informed him Little Boy had passed. I expressed to him that I regretted not having followed through with my choice of euthanizing because of the painful death he suffered. He said nothing. Today I receive another follow up call to check on him once again and I had to relive it all Over again. I spoke to Taylor, she advised Dr Francis had failed to notate my account to reflect Little Boy had passed. Taylor offered to escalate the issue and have Jose - the office manager call me back. Jose never called back. I called and was advised he was gone for the day. The young lady then advised Dr. Williams would call me back. I have yet to hear from anyone.

I will start this review by saying this in no way directed towards MOST of the staff at Gully. I cant get to detailed as I fear the back lash that would happen towards some employees that are still there. My personal experience with this clinic was helping a former employee with walking and feeding the animals that were in boarding during the holidays. I would expect there to be many animals at the clinic during this time, but what I didnt expect to see...were many animals that were still in their crate or carrier, stacked on top of each other, in the dark, lining the walls because all of the available kennels were packed solid with animals. There was absolutely NO WAY that this clinic should have taken the number of animals it had and especially the ones they obviously kept taking and leaving in their crates or small carriers that they arrived in. That incident alone was a horrible site, but Dr. Gully has his own dogs (hunting dogs-that are not real small in size)..ALL sharing the same pen. It truly was a heart breaking site and to know that small pen..is where that vet houses his dogs...sounds more money hungry than loving.. There are more details that I could go into about that boarding situation, but I wont. Again, do what you will, but I would NEVER recommend boarding at this clinic and especially during the holiday seasons. I also want to mention that Roy Gully has an anger management issue!!! He treats his staff like they are the dogs-READ SOME OF THE PREVIOUS REVIEWS FROM PAST EMPLOYEES-what they have said is 100% true!!! To sum this all up in a nutshell, all of the other staff members-doctors, techs, receptionists, groomers and kennel hands are decent people who care about your animal and co-worker, with the exception of Roy Gully and Amy the receptionist whom of which is completely rude, snotty and a not a team player in any way. Also--for a vet who claims to care about animals so much...for all of you clients, ask them why they dont want to be involved in the CPO Mobile clinic any longer that was supposed to help the defenseless animals that need help. SHAME ON YOU!!! and the staff members that were involved in that!! It is the defenseless animals that now suffer because you are selfish and purely mean hearted!

It is nice to know there are still Crooks out there waiting to take advantage of citizens of Arlington when their pets are in need. The first thing is Gully Animal Hospital is not a (REAL) Hospital and will charge you $500 or so to run tests on your cherished family member then inform you that they cannot help you and your pet needs to go to the Emergency 24-Hour Hospital in Mansfield. The 24-Hour Hospital is just down the street and I would recommend going there first to avoid this scam. Secondly, a few weeks ago my great dane got ill to the point where I had to take him to the 24 emergency hospital in Mansfield. The doctors ran all of the blood work including the heart worm tests and they automatically sent the results to Gully Animal Hospital where my pets would have begun to get services since I am relatively new to the area. On 6/13/2016 I made an early appointment to get the rest of my buddys annual shots, rabies etc.., and on this day I had the displeasure of meeting the crooked Dr. Deborah Shanks. I told her assistant Austin that I was specifically sent by the 24 hospital to get the heart worm prescription from Gullys staff. Rather than give me the prescription since the 24 hour hospital had already run the test, the crooked Dr. Shanks sent me away empty handed since I was unwilling to pay their marked up prices for (Heartguard). She did hand me a offer to charge me an additional $400 or so dollars for tests the 24 hour pet hospital had already run. Our pets are the most cherished members of our families and they deserve better than the horse crap treatment from Gully Animal Hospital. I you have never used this clinic before I highly recommend not using them as my beloved family members have been to several other merchants in this area and I have never been treated this horribly.

My step dad and I had a terrible experience with Dr. Gully. We normally see another vet, but Gully Animal Hospital was one of the few hospitals open on Sunday. We have a diabetic cat that started acting extremely lethargic, so we decided that he needed to see a doctor immediately. Dr. Gully suggested that we do blood work, so we gave him the OK to do so. He came back into our room a few minutes later and explained to us that everything looked normal. After he left, my step dad and I sighed and thought, "Thank god! Our baby is going to be alright!" Fortunately, he left the blood work on the table and my step dad and I began looking at it. We immediately noticed that the patient information was completely wrong and that Dr. Gully was reading the blood work for the WRONG CAT. Now, Im a veterinary technician myself, and I assume that the technician in the room with us must have given Dr. Gully the wrong paperwork. Thats where the problem began. Its utterly unprofessional to perform your job with as much carelessness as this technician did, but it is just as bad to begin diagnosing a patients blood work without even VERIFYING the paperwork. I texted my mother after received the (false) good news (since she has been crying/stressing out all day about this at work), and she was extremely relieved when she thought that our kitty was going to be okay. Unfortunately, $350 later, I had to be the one to call her and correct the doctors mistake. Im currently in school studying to become a veterinarian one day, and if I ever own my own clinic, I will NEVER act as unprofessionally as Gully Animal Hospital did today. They were careless. Just a heads up to anyone deciding on whether or not to bring their loved ones here.
