We will not be boarding our two dogs here again overnight. The first two times we boarded, we booked luxury suites but never had webcam access, and thought all was well. However, this time we were given the webcam passcode when we boarded, and it was enlightening. A luxury run theoretically came with more bathroom breaks and constant access to a covered patio. Reality: The door to my dogs patio was open maybe 1-3 pm and 5-7 pm. We dropped off at 10:30 am. Their kennel was dark, with no access outside, from 7 pm to 7:30 am. Saturday, again, the dog door was open 7:30-1 pm, and again 5-7 pm. Now heres the best part--the light was off and their dog door closed, with no one checking on them, from 7 pm to 8:30 am Sunday. 13.5 hours, no break. Our otherwise perfectly house trained dogs had an accident, of course, and Monday morning, their bedding smelled. Sunday night they went 7 pm to 7 am without a break or even access to their covered patio. Thank goodness we could pick them up at 7:30 am Monday--no Sunday pickups. We have two senior dogs, one with cushings disease and one with a heart murmur, so we thought a vets office would be the better option for them. After complaining, we learned that the reason for the long night break was that a neighbor had complained in the past so they changed hours. Thats fine, but the reality of nearly 14 hours without a bathroom break, boarded in a small room, without the dog door access the luxury run is supposed to include, is unacceptable. The practice group manager apologized, but that doesnt make it okay. The practice manager did call to apologize and offer a full refund, and said she would try to address our concerns, with most hope given to the issue of a soiled bed being left in my dogs room for 24 hours. The refund was appreciated, but until they get the issue resolved of the number of hours at night without a break solved, we will not be boarding here again overnight.

i want to say first off, we moved here from Chicago and and as we all know to find a doctor for ourselves and our pets are time consuming and sometimes disappointing. But Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital is wonderful. we have not one complaint. they are there when we need them, even if its an hour before they close .. and if they are closed and you leave a message, you WILL get a call the next morning at 7 am. they take there time explaining and they make sure you understand everything. they don;t just rush you through ! there bedside manner is remarkable. we had our little girl there ,and the next day they even called to see how she did through the night . to me, now adays thats great! they treat you as a person that loves there pet, not as a number. i highly recommend , if you want great care, and i mean loving care and professional treatment for your pet, go to the Spicewood Springs Vet. there staff there also, are so nice and wonderful..so look no further, trust me go there and you will NOT be disappointed. Ive taken all my animals to Spicewood Animal Hospital over the last couple of years (two dogs and one cat). Originally I came to this vet through a program to treat heartworm for one of my dogs payed for by the animal shelter from which she was adopted. My experience has been a little worse with every visit - every time I arrive for an appointment I can expect to finally be seen 20 minutes to one hour after my appointment time. They are also very expensive for basic services (like shots) compared to other vets. My most previous visit (today) I was seen 20 minutes after my appointment time (fast time for them), took one minute to finish the appointment, and they added an "appointment fee" to the bill for the already overpriced vaccine. I was thinking about rating this business 2 stars, but dropped it to one since I always leave feeling ripped off, and like my time was wasted. Will not return. I would advise others to find a better place, at least for routine services or exams.

Great first visit with our rescue dog, Oliver. We recently adopted Oliver from Austin Pets Alive on 3-23-12 and wanted to get his first visit in order. After asking for recommendations from friends we decided on Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital and I was not disappointed. Our dog is a three year old American Bulldog Mix and though he is a big loveable guy, he is still adjusting to us and to being around other people and animals. The staff at Spicewood Springs was friendly and positive, and the vet, Dr. Teresa Wagner, told me specifically as she petted him and fed him his medication in some greenie treats, that she wanted to make his first visit as positive as she could so that the next time he was in, he would remember it as a good place to visit. Oliver did his best to behave like the goofy little gentleman he is and Dr. Wagner and the rest of the staff made him feel completely comfortable! Also - as a great bonus for adopting a rescuing pet, the first visit fee is waived!

The entire staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The two things that stand out most are their "bed side" manner and their commitment to their patients (furry and human alike). My dog is slow to warm up to strangers and was won over by receptionists, vet techs, vets, and kennel staff in our first visit. How well they treat her in the kennel or in the back when giving her shots, etc, is proven by her obvious trust in them. The good folks at Spicewood Springs Animal Hospital also kept my dog while she was very sick and I was out of state recently. Dr. Benaryeh called me three times a day to give updates on what tests/procedures they were trying and to let me know how she was doing. Thanks to their great care my dog was better and ready to come home when I got back, and thanks to their attentiveness I was able to sleep while away knowing I was up to date and my dog was in good hands. I cannot recommend this animal hospital enough.

Our family has been going to SSAH for over 15 years. Similar to all of the previous glowing reviews our customer experience has been nothing less than world-class. The staff is knowledgeable, sincere, empathetic, compassionate and consistently professional especially when it comes to the follow up.. I can go on forever with more superlatives but I think everone by now gets the message. Dr. B is very well respected throughout the Veterinary community and his network of specialists hes referred us to are top notch as well. What got me at "hello" was when Dr. B volunteered to come to our house to put our beloved Mia to sleep so we could minimize the stress and keep her as comfortable as possible in her last few hrs on earth. 2 years ago we moved to South Austin, but where do you think we still take our girls...yep SSAH cause they deserve it. Team SSAH rocks!

Very friendly and accommodating staff, who are always available to answer any questions you may have about your animals visit. I took my cat there for his check-up and a day of boarding, and was extremely pleased with his care. There was hardly any wait time when we arrived and when I picked him up the check out process was very stress-free and quick. William (my cat) was seen by Dr. Benaryeh, who was exremely personable. He made it a point to come speak with me about my cats check-up when I arrived to pick him up. He was very understanding and answered all of my questions patiently and thoroughly. Normally my cat hates the vet, but he came home happy as if nothing had happened. They are very affordable and it is extremely simple to make an appointment. I would definitely recommend taking your pets here!
