I went to Timberlake Dental after receiving one of their mailers. The front desk staff was so friendly and welcoming. I had not been to the dentist in quite some time and my cleaning was quick and painless. I had a cavity and they got me in the next day to have it filled. Dr. Chowning was very nice and made me feel at ease. I had two years of amazing service at Timberlake Dental when I decided to ask them if they would consider seeing my brother for a cleaning and check up. My brother is mentally ill and is very afraid of being in public. He hadnt been to the dentist in fifteen (or more) years. I am usually apprehensive about taking him anywhere but the staff at Timberlake was so kind to me that I felt comfortable giving it a try. He was initially scared about his first visit, as was I, but there was no need to be, he did great! Everyone made him feel so safe and welcome. Jeannette, the Dental Hygienist who did his cleaning, explained everything she was about to do in an easy to understand but never condescending way. Because of years of no dental care my brother had several cavities and needed his wisdom teeth pulled. We didnt think he could have the cavities filled without being sedated because of his anxiety. The staff went out of their way for us, finding us someone to do the sedation and wisdom teeth extraction at the same time that Dr. Chowning filled my brothers cavities. They found someone who could work with my brothers unique circumstances and saved us time, money, and stress by having everything done at the same time. The procedure went great! Now my brother goes to his cleaning appointments every six months and he doesnt stress out about going at all. The staff at Timberlake Dental arent just great at what the do (which they are) and are also really caring, good people who go out of their way to make everyone feel great about going there. Im so happy I found them!

I took both my daughters for exams at Timberlake for the first time after several years of seeing a dentist that we really liked. Our experience was not pleasant. Two separate hygenists made disparaging comments about our family medical history as I was providing it for each of my daughters. After years of great dental exams and zero dental problems diagnosed by our previous dentist, the diagnoses of Dr. Chownings staff made it sound like the girls teeth were at serious risk, though neither has ever had a cavity. The staff kept pushing high-dollar sealants (not covered by insurance) high-dollar sonic cleaning systems and even expensive flossing systems. I felt like I was at a high-pressure sales pitch instead of being at the dentist. Dr. Chowning should coach his staff, that when they have no previous relationship with new patients, there is no trust between the patient and the hygienist, and therefore repeated attempts to persuade the patient to buy things that they have never before been told they "need" is not going to be well received. My final complaint is that I asked that my oldest daughters x-rays be sent to her orthodontist, but when we went for her next appointment there, those x-rays had never been received and had to be retaken by that team. My impression is that Dr. Chownings staff is more concerned about selling "add ons" than on providing good, basic dental care. I have to wonder if the staff is working on commission like a sales team.

We have been patients of Dr. Chowning for 15 years, including bringing our son with autism, who was 12, when we first started coming to Timberlake for care. We were lucky in that my dad, our sons grandfather, was a dentist and wed had a very good dentist in California that made sure our son had good experiences when he was still a toddler. We needed that bank of years of good experiences after he had to be sedated at age 12. He had to have the last of his baby teeth removed. Sedation was necessary for everyones safety, including my sons, for that procedure. Im fairly certain our son was among the first people with autism Dr. Chowning treated. It wasnt easy to climb over the mound of fear my son had from being sedated. But Dr. Chowning and his team knew how to do it. My son, age 27, now makes his own appointments and goes for checkups every six months. Still no cavities! My son tells me a few years ago he felt the need to apologize to Dr. Chowning for being a difficult patient as a child. I was sorry to read the other familys experience. Ours was very different and we would encourage any family that is trying to get the best dental care for their child with autism to trust the experienced people at Timberlake.

Ive been going to Dr. Chowning for 15 years. He is personable and extremely skilled. Dr Chowning cares about his patients wellbeing, and will even sacrifice business to ensure his patients have the best care. We had that discussion when it was time to finally remove my wisdom teeth. He gives solid advice on dental care, and keeps up with the latest advancements in the industry. The entire staff is abundantly friendly and more like a family, or a close-knit circle of friends. Even though they only see me every 6 months, they still remember me and the events in my life. My hygienist is skilled, observant, and has a great "bedside" manner; shes always cheerful in the office, and I would consider her a friend outside the office. My family has stayed with Dr. Chowning through his location changes, and through our own insurance changes. Even when he was out of network for a while, I felt he was absolutely worth (more than) what we were paying, and when the insurance company finally wised up and got him back in network, its a complete no-brainer. As long as Dr. Chowning is practicing, my family will continue being his patients.

Most people look at me funny when I tell them I actually enjoy going to my dentist. I dont mean that I enjoy having tools and hands in my mouth, or a light in my eyes. What I mean is that if you have to have tools and hands in your mouth and a light in your eyes, Timberlake Dental makes it as pleasant an experience as possible. You can always count on a warm and friendly welcome from Dr. Chowning and his staff almost as if you were their only patient. They are very professional in a comforting manner, and the office is run efficiently with the latest in dental technology. I have every confidence in and completely trust Dr. Chowning and his staff to provide excellent dental care for me and my family. I highly recommend Timberlake Dental!

Dr. Chowning is a joke. On his page it talks about him being a church going deacon who served people with special needs. Well, my daughter has autism. We were new to Texas and these guys state all the wonderful sedation services they have. My daughter had an appointment. We didnt get past the waiting room. The good doctor refused to see my child because of her autism. He did not want to deal with her. He actually made the statement that he didnt want to waste his time. What about my time that was wasted? What about the pain my child was in for three weeks waiting for this appointment? Please do not use this office. They were more than rude. They are hypocrites. They work with special needs.....please.
