While the facility is clean and the staff that work in the front area are very nice, it becomes apparent once your pet is seen by a member of their vetrinary staff that they are looking to charge you for everything under the sun without any genuine concern for your pet. My first visit, a routine visit for shots wound up requiring additional tests and ran $250. Recently, our dog has had a more complicated health issue. I had been offended by my first experience at Plantation (the upselling is not at all subtle) so we took him to another facility where we received an estimate for a surgical procedure. At that time, my husband felt more confident with the staff at Plantation, so I took him there for a second opinion. With a sick dog, the upsell was not only worse, it was irresponsible. It took a day for them to return an estimate that was more than 4 TIMES the amount of the estimate from the other facitlity - incluing charges for surgical supplies, medical waste disposal, a surgical suite, a surgical day stay, AND a comprehensive exam (which he had supposedly received the day prior). Judge for yourself - the first vets estimate was $229.94 on the low end and $320.70 on the high end (which included a teeth cleaning). Plantations estimate was $1211.84, with a note that the actual total would range between $800.53 and $1669.87. When I asked about this with Plantation (because I was offended and wanted them to know), they stated that some of the things in the estimate were optional, and I could choose not to have them - such as an IV Catheter setup. I did not need to hear anymore. I will never use this facility again, AND I will tell other pet owners of my negative experiences. For a routine visit, their "sales" tactics are annoying. When you have a pet in dire circumstances, their tactics are not just irresponsible, they are criminal.

We just had our first visit with Dr Martin after transfering over from other veterinerary clinics in Frisco. We left one of the other vets due to poor treatment and the other because their costs were just unreasonable. Since this visit was for the yearly comprehensive wellness and shots for both of my Siberian Huskies I was braced for another $400 bill. Both of my dogs received excellent attention, all of their shots, some additional tests and a good deal of Dr Martin and his staffs time. The total bill was very reasonable and less than half of what the other vets charged for the same type of visit with shots. I know everyone has their price point but all you need to do is go a bit West toward Legacy and you will see how reasonable Dr Martin is, and he was just terrific with my dogs. We definately will be back.

So far our pup has had 2 scheduled visits and 2 emergency visits here. We love them. What really caught my attention was in the process of choosing a vet. I called the first place and they were rude and didnt have time for us to come visit before we scheduled to make sure we approved. 2nd I called plantation pet health center & they were so nice and invited us in for a tour same day. The entire staff took a moment to meet patches. We instantly decided to go ahead and schedule her shots. Both if her shots and puppy exams were cost efficient and they were great, very friendly and genuinely cared. Same thing at her 2 emergency visits. Called for follow ups, etc. Out of all my pets Ive had and vets I used, these guys are the best!

I have been taking my dog and cats to Dr. Martin for 7 years. He is a very good vet, however I too do not like the upselling and guilt when you choose not to do it. Such as putting my cats to sleep to clean their teeth or doing bloodwork. Yes, it is good for the animal but this family is not in a position to afford that so we are looking for a new vet. Also, they put something up my dogs nose -- some sort of vaccine - she was startled (so was I) and tried to bite so now they muzzle her and treat her like shes feral. I dont want to walk out of my vets office feeling ashamed, and I always do with Dr. Martin so Im done.

Shouldve read the reviews before I went! While the staff and doctor were friendly, as someone in the healthcare profession, I was highly disappointed that they would suggest medications and other costly measures, BEFORE even knowing a true diagnosis...a bill of over $500+! After challenging his knowledge/reasoning for his protocol, it was apparent to me that this was about selling me meds/food my dog did not need...I wasnt buying it. Disappointing and needless to say, I will find a vet in the future who is much more sensible in price and conservative in protocol.

If you like getting overcharged go here. I have been taking my dog here for 5 years and I always feel like I am getting ripped off. The most expensive treatments and most expensive tests they can perform is always their motto. Today, while getting a bortatella booster I asked for a simple nail clipping for my corgi -they charged me $15 for a "pedicure" and they didnt even trim the hair around her feet. I wont be back. Oh and they charged me $60 to put my parakeet down, what a jerk!

Wow Just Wow!! Took one of my daughters ferrets in today because he lost a lot of weight fast. I was so impressed with the cleanliness and hospitality. What I thought for sure was going to cost a small fortune turned out to be the MOST AFFORDABLE vet visit I have ever paid for!!! I walked out with medicine and special food and a very informative visit for under $100. We will be bringing all of our fur babies here from now on!

We went here on the recommendation of friends and it was easy to see why our friends liked it so much. The staff was very friendly and happy to answer all of our questions. We met with Dr. Peña and he spent a good amount of time explaining all of the options that were available to treat our pet. I would not hesitate toe recommend Plantation Pet Health Center to anyone looking for a place to treat their pet.

They always have appts available when you want. They are a little pricey and they do try to sell you extra things, but have never made me feel guilty about not doing it. This is also a great place to board you animals. I found this to be one of the better and more price range reasonable place to do boarding. They take great care of the animals while there.

I had brought by two girls here and they were courteous. However it made me feel VERY uncomfortable on how they tried to up sell things that didn’t seem quite necessary. It was hard to say “no” because you feel like a bad Daddy. I felt like I was taken advantage of.… Anyway you live and learn. I won’t be coming back here. Ever.

I have no idea what other reviewers are talking about, one of the reasons I love Doctor Martin is the fact that he doesnt try to upsell unnecessarily. His treatments have been pondered and no bogus exams. Im a industry professional as well, and take my dog and rats for him to see. So far, so good!
