I used Dr. Blake Hughes for probably over 15 years. He, himself, is fantastic and I couldnt recommend a better doctor. I live an hour away and have for 10 years but he is worth the drive. Dr. Blakes office staff have been extremely disappointing 2 out of the last 3 years I have been. 3 years ago I was there for two and a half hours (for a simple routine yearly eye exam) and they tried to over charge me by $200...I lucky caught the mistake and had them fix it. This year I had scheduled an appointment a full year in advance. While I was on vacation hiking the Grand Canyon where there is absolutely no cell phone service, they called to confirm my appointment. When I got out of the Canyon I called them back to confirm and they had cancelled my appointment because I did not call them back within 48 hours. If that wasnt bad enough, they proceed to tell me that I could not get in with Dr. Blake for another month. So with frustration I rescheduled for a month later. One week before the appointment they called me to cancel my appointment again! And to make matters worse, they told me that I could not see Dr. Blake until October! The receptionist was extremely rude which only made me more angry. They did tell me that I could see another doctor that scheduled day but why would I drive an hour to get there to see someone new when I could go 5 mins down the road and get the same thing. Because of all this I will not be returning to this office even though Dr. Blake is very good.

I have tried so many different optometrists, a different one each year (mostly due to moving for work) and this was the first time that a doctor actually listened to me and tried to find out what has been causing my problems for so many years. I finally got some answers and recommendations for OTC treatments. I also got a great recommendation for which material my glasses lenses should be made out of to help with the current problems Ive been having with my astigmatism and my vision not looking clear like it should. I picked up my glasses today and wow! For the first time in AT LEAST 5 years, I can describe my vision just like the first time I got glasses in the 4th grade. Everything is back to being crisp and clear. The staff were always courteous and helpful and always answering my questions. The sales staff didnt try to push the highest price glasses, but instead helped me find a pair that fit the shape of my face. Sure, they are more expensive than WalMart or Target (I dont have vision insurance but was able to use my health insurance for the exam) but Id be happy to pay this much once a year to get this kind of service to help me obtain the best vision Ive had in years. 20/20 vision is priceless.

Dr. Craig has been my eye doctor since I moved from CA in 1983. Ive worn glasses since I was 8 years old, with astigmatism and nearsightedness problems. I wore contacts for over 30 years, and wanted corrective surgery. Dr. Hughes waited until he was satisfied that he had found the right procedure, and informed me to proceed. I did and could not have been happier with the results! I didnt know people could really see insects in the bushes, until I could sight them with my corrected eyes. At my recommendation, 2 friends consulted with Dr. C. Hughes, one of whom he advised not to proceed due to too thin corneas. Another reason to trust this practice demonstrated! Due to age and glaucoma, Ive moved on to Dr. Blake, who provides the same first rate, concerned service. Although the facilities are beautiful, clean, and well organized, the sole reason I would heartily recommend using First Eye Care is in the name -- they care, provide, and follow through with great kindness and courtesy. This is the only place in the Metroplex I would trust with my vision!

Wish I could I give them one star.... I reordered a pair of glasses for my 2 year old since the first time we got the glasses in 3 days. Everything was great they had the style we wanted and everything. Told us it would be about a week. Week 1 Manufacturer no longer carry the ordered color(only found out after we called in) Week 2 lenses apparently failed QA test, and were sent back, again found out only when I called in to find out about my sons glasses. Week 3 Finally they are in. Took them 3 weeks to get the glasses, and I understand that things happen, but the staff has zero accountability. And they could care less about actually contacting you. I only received 2 calls from the office first was a returning my call, and when the glasses finally came. Still wanting for the manager to return my phone call as to why no one seemed able to call and tell me about these delays.... DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE!

Wow, just read a few of these reviews. I have been a patient of Dr Blakes for over eight years. Had an appointment scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, I live downtown Fort Worth so schedule appts at the end of the day. This morning I received an email to confirm my December 20 appt at 10:45 am. Called to find out what happened, he went on vacation this week, all of his appts were to be rescheduled. To add insult to injury, the receptionist asked my name to transfer me and then proceeded to call me hun. When I asked to speak to the office manager, he was not available and I asked for a call back. 3 hours later I called to speak to him, was asked who was calling and was put on hold, receptionist came back and said he was at lunch. Imagine that, he didn have time to call me, knowing how upset I was, but had time to go to lunch. Am taking my business elsewhere.

I wouldnt even give them 1 star. Most awful experience ever! I could have got a better experience at walmart. Not only did it take 3 weeks to get my sons glasses, they were not the transitional lenses that I had ordered so my son had to wait again. When they finally got the correct lenses, the office staff was rude and non apologetic for the massive inconvenience they have caused. Very disappointing! And I dont even like to write reviews but this has been a nightmare. EDIT: This was a one star review for the way I was treated. I would probably give a 3.5 now. They have since reached out to me but only after the review. I do appreciate them acknowledging me and reaching out. I just hope this is a learning curve and they can learn from it for the next customer who might go through what I did...

Fabulous service, excellent facility but not on pre interview with the customers. I have a stye on my eye lid, I was reviewed by a pateint care person before the doctor. I informed her that I was not in pain and it was not infected. I was using compress heat to drain it but wanted to see if there was something that they could do to drain it. The doctor came in and told me to continue doing the same because it was not infected which the pateint care person could have done and saved me 85.00 to tell me what I already know and I was already doing. It is just crazy to charge someone 85.00 for lesser than 5 mintues of your time. I feel that the cost should have been alot less because I did not get the help I needed. I still do not know what I paid for. Very Disappointed.
