In 2013, 28% of Texans age 18-64 were uninsured. Im one of them. I called Richardson OB/GYN asking what the rates for self-pay patients were. They quoted me something quite reasonable (about $135) for a basic exam, but heres the catch. Tests are sent off to an outside lab. How much does that run? Google searches tell me to expect between $200 and $2000. (What a range! ) so I asked the receptionist what to expect. She said she had no idea - call LabCorps. After more than half an hour on hold, they told me that to know estimated costs, Id need a six-digit code from the doctor. So I call the docs office back only to find out that they cant tell me what tests will be ordered until I actually come in - and that the samples collected have to be sent off the same day. Wouldnt even give me the code for the standard pap smear. So if I wanted to get a basic well woman exam, I dont have any way of knowing how expensive it would be until after getting poked and prodded, charged $135, and another half hour on the phone? No thank you! If youre self-pay, dont even bother here.

Ive been going to Dr. (Carol Beth) Norton for 2+ years and she has been THE BEST. Not only is she professional and knowledgable, she manages to make me feel 100% comfortable (and if you knew me, I have anxiety about going to the doctor especially alone) throughout the whole appointment whether it be an physical examination or a list of questions. Im extremely happy that Ive found a doctor thats pretty much enjoyable to visit which is so hard for me to find bc Im picky. Love her! 5 stars.

I called to schedule new patient appointment they had me on hold for five minutes, answers the phone just to put me on hold again. Phone receptionist was rude.
