Wonderful experience! I was so tired of wearing contacts and glasses for the past 10+ years but I was really worried and scared about getting LASIK. I read about all of the possible side effects and complications, and the whole idea of someone messing with my eyes really scared me! I looked at 5 different LASIK places in the San Antonio area and TLC was by far my favorite. It wasn’t the cheapest, but the others were not up front about all of their costs and I didn’t trust that it was current technology. Plus, they were not as friendly or as comfortable of an environment. Every single person at TLC was professional and friendly. From the very beginning, they told me exactly what they were doing and what to expect. They were one of the only places that seemed up front about everything: from the technology to the risks to the costs. They were very thorough and organized in every step, like giving me a list of the prescriptions I would need, including pictures and generic names, just so I knew exactly what I needed. Dr. Guzman was really nice and talked me through my specific risks and candidacy for LASIK. Caroline and Anastasia were awesome doing all of the tests and answering all of my many questions. TLC also have partner eye doctors in surrounding areas, so even though I don’t live in San Antonio, I only had to go there for the consult and procedure! Everything else was done through phone/email and all of the follow up care is at my local eye doctor. On the day of the surgery, I was very, very nervous, even with my husband there to support me. Tamia got me all prepared and was really friendly. She made me feel comfortable and more at ease, even before the Valium. She was very thorough and made sure I had everything I needed for the procedure and after. Then I met with Dr. Alsheikh who checked my eyes and answered all of my questions. He didn’t seem rushed or make me feel like my questions were stupid. The procedure itself lasted only a couple minutes and was painless. It was great having Caroline and Anastasia in the room. They made sure I was in the right position and was comfortable, put plenty of numbing drops in my eyes, and walked me through each step. They let me know exactly what was happening, how many more seconds were in each step, when to close my eyes, and what was going to happen next. I wouldn’t say the procedure itself was a pleasant experience, but I was comfortable and less nervous since they were walking me through each step. Before I knew it, I was done and on my way home. I can only say that each person at TLC was so friendly, professional, and thorough that it really made me feel better. I was so thankful to have Anastasia there, from the very first consultation, to every phone call or email with all of my questions, to the actual procedure. I knew I’d have to really trust someone if I was going to get LASIK. I trusted TLC and I’m glad I did. I’m now a week out from surgery and seeing 20/15! I’m back to work and driving, am already seeing an improvement in the halos and dry-eyes, and I already love not having to worry about contacts. Thanks again to Anastasia, Caroline, Tamia, Dr. Guzman, and Dr. Alsheikh at TLC! I definitely recommend TLC to anyone wanting LASIK in the San Antonio area. Definitely worth the investment!

I would give them 5 stars, but I needed help over the weekend which happened after hours on Friday. I used their Emergency Response number. Their Emergency Response had absolutely no sense of urgency. They asked me for my name, the address of the company, my birthdate, the doctors name and a few other questions that took quite awhile because I did not have all the information on hand. They even asked me what type of surgery I had. It felt like I was taking a survey, since they werent asking may questions regarding the issues with my eyes. After waiting for over 10 minutes and giving them information they could not find for me, they called the doctor, who called another doctor, who never called me back at all, and neither doctor has checked on me to see if I was okay. I am not okay. My eyes are burning like hell and it hurts when I blink. I am not sure if it is normal, if I should take something specifically, or if it is cause for me to go to the ER (ER is expensive so I dont want to waste money just for them to tell me theres nothing wrong then get a $2000 bill. Its happened to me before.) I get it if the Emergency Response was getting my information so I can qualify for a loan, but I took over 20 minutes giving them all this information they wanted from me, and in return, they could not get a hold of my "specific" doctor. Any doctor from LASIK wouldve been helpful, someone familiar with the symptoms, which they all should be if they work with LASIK. It was a frustrating experience because I am already in pain, hurting, worried and just want answers. Imagine calling 911 and they want a 10 minute intake before they even think about helping you, just for them to tell you that no one is one their way in that specific area youre in, so good luck figuring out what to do on your own. It is not an Emergency Response, more like a "we will get to you eventually, maybe". I have no problem with TLC, just their Emergency Response vendor. Fortunately, Dr. Alsheikh answered each time in a timely manner. I had to call twice, but he told me 5% of patients experience severe burning and pain with PRK, and I just happen to be in that special 5% category. Day 4 and it sucks, but at least now I know that its normal and I dont need to go to the ER or take other actions.

I wish I never had this surgery. They said recovery time would be a week. The eye drops they give me makes it absolutely impossible to function, work or drive with the feeling of pebbles and sand in my eyes for hours and they want me to take it 4x a day despite the fact I have a life. Apparently "everyone heals differently" means I am out of work for 3 weeks and I cannot drive. I am in pain. Anyone who has PRK just dont bother with the surgery because they could care less about you. They really dont care and they act as if theyre annoyed that I am having problems. Sorry I am annoying you guys forn trying to figure out better medicine that doesnt restrict my driving or ability to function on a daily basis.

I was seeing 20/15 the morning after surgery! My wife had prk here and I had Lasik. Staff is friendly and they have a lifetime warranty meaning they will correct your vision later down the road for free if needed.
