Worst Hospital Experience Ever. We live four hours from San Antonio and our local cardiologist scheduled us for a test to be done at University Hospital. University Hospital confirmed the appointment/test with us. We make the four hour drive and check in to find out they have no record of us. Probing deeper, it appears what happened is their MRI machine went down, they rescheduled our appointment, but did not notify us of the changed appointment. Hence, my wife and I both took a day off from work (Cha Ching), we drove four hours to San Antonio (Cha Ching), and then we are told the machine is broken and we will have to come back later. Really?!? You could not have called us and told us, hey, the machine is broken, dont drive four hours down here for a test we can not do. Overall we found the people at this hospital to be particularly unfriendly, cold, aloof and disconnected. Really a completely terrible experience. The parking garage is a disaster. Levels are designated by letters, and rows are designated by letter also. Also, there are several towers. When we found a place to park, we carefully wrote down what level/row/spot we parked in. After finding out we were not going to be able to get the test done we had come for, we end up going back to the parking garage. Guess what . . . no map of the parking garage, and no logical layout of the parking garage, so it took us an hour and a half to find our car. No where NO WHERE in the garage was a map to show you how to get to your level/row. The garage is in different sections, and it is not clear even which elevator you need to get on to get to the Level G Row G we had parked on. We finally found someone and asked them if there was a map of the garage so we could find our way to our spot. We were told, no, there was no map. We asked how to know which elevator would take us to the particular G/G spot we had parked in, and the response was a shoulder shrug . . . like, not my problem. Like, I work in the parking garage but not my job to know where a certain level was. Like the parking garage was so confusing even the people who work there do not know how it is arranged. The overall experience here was reminiscent of visiting a US post office. Rude people, poor and thoughtless service. If you have a choice, choose a different hospital. Trying to figure out how to leave zero stars, but I guess that is not possible, so One Star since that is the lowest possible.

***Not deserving of even 1 star*** The ER at this facility is the worst i have seen yet. I took my sister last night. She has. stage 4 colon cancer which has spread to most of her other organs already. She does not have a Dr due to them losing their contract with Medicaid and has not had any luck getting in with another Dr. I took here there due to her increased pain and not being able to urinate anymore. Clear sign that there is more going on now. Well.....3 different nurses were supposed to access her port to draw blood and give her pain meds.....2 1/2 hours later after I asked for a Charge Nurse....it finally got done. Although the nurse that did it was very rough about it. They then took her for an ultrasound and then placed her back in the hall. In the meantime....we are hearing all sorts of private patient information being talked about, to include patients names and the reason they were there. Major HIPPA violation!!! Her pain meds then wore off and I then asked 3 different times if she could get more pain meds. The nurse said "oh....I know. I see her and hear her". She then walked off to "ask the Dr" and never came back with an answer. Finally I found her and asked again.....she asked if we wanted to talk to the PA. I said someone!! I brought her here for help not for her to sit in the hallway in pain. She could be in pain at home. So the PA came to talk to us and acted as if she was a druggie looking for a "fix". It was very clear he didnt give a rats butt about her condition. This was the worst experience ever in an ER. My sister is dying and should not have been treated this way. I took her there to try to get her in with the Oncology Dept to try to help her since we have heard good things about that department. My sister was so upset we ended up just leaving. There really was no reason to treat her this way at all. I pray that none of them have to see a family member dying in front of them due to cancer and watch as the people who are supposed to be there to help you just ignore you or act like your not important. Its very clear that the staff in the ER clearly have no regard for patient care. Its just a job for them. They really need a new profession if they have no compassion for people. Oh did I mention?? WORST ER EVER!!!!

Horrible Experience!!!! I went to the emergency area as I had an emergency. I had a Patient ID# already but, when I was searched on their data base, I could not be found. This is only the beginning.... I was eventually registered and a nurse took my vitals and then.......the eternal wait to get a bed inside the emergency room(s). Once in, I explained what my emergency was and stated that I was in dire pain!! I was told by the emergency doctor there, that I would be sent home as there was nothing they could do to my condition!!!!!! As I readied myself to leave, a bunch of other doctors came in and asked me several questions as to my condition. All doctors spoke at once, I couldnt focus on which doctor to answer to. Other doctors that I didnt answer to, became visibly irritated and began yelling their questions at me!!! I told one particular idiot to shut up as he was confusing me!!! After THEY left, here comes another bunch. I asked a female doctor there what appeared to be the problem to which she readily answered my question. She asked if I had INSURANCE, like an idiot, I stated "yes". Oh man, I had so many tests and an MRI to boot readily done!!!! After about 10 hours, all these tests, I was told to go home!!!!! No explanation from the doctors as to my condition or ANYTHING!!!! I was in such severe pain, I had trouble walking. The male nurse came in, gave me my discharge papers and made me WALK to the lobby which took a good while for me to accomplish in my condition!!!! My summation of my HORRIBLE experience about the hospital is that it MUST be a low income hospital where the doctors have NO interest in the patient or their condition. As for me having had INSURANCE, I called my insurance carrier and explained to them that not much was going to be done until I mentioned having INSURANCE. I ended my call that I felt the hospital pulled a scam on me and the INSURANCE!!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FACILITY TO ANYONE, LOW INCOME OR NOT!!!!!! I gave this review a one-star rating as it will not allow me to post it without stars!!!!!!!
