We had a very positive experience with LifeCare, and were there for over 5 weeks after my husband had a very serious stroke. The nursing:patient ratio is low, and we felt like we got the attention needed for a high-maintenance patient that was unable to walk. The staff was very responsive to our needs. Nurses and CNAs are friendly, caring, and professional. If we did have problems with any staff not giving us the most professional care possible, we simply reported it to the house supervisor and the situation was quickly changed. Rehab teams were excellent, and got my husband ready for the next phase of his recovery. We were very proactive, and very involved with his "team" there, so that was probably part of the reason we had such a good experience. Any relationship relies on communication, and we had that with LifeCare - they were very responsive to our needs. Excellent facilities, parking, location. This is the cleanest hospital I have ever been in, and I have been in a lot of hospitals.

I currently have a loved one b there and seems add if Im always having to complain about things to director. Takes them along time to come and adjust them to where theyre not slouched, you push the nurses button to come in and they dont till about 15-20 minutes later, not to mention thats them standing thought outside your door finishing a conversation about replacing a personal cell phone. And if the machines are going off, including the ventilators, they still dont rush in. Looks nice, but lets just wait and see about improvement from either facility staff or loved one. Met one nice nurse youd be lucky to have, Mauel. These people sometimes forget they will be there at one point as patients!!

This is one of the worst hospitals anyone can go to. The nurses are not Rns, CNAs are people that are just out of high school or with very little knowledge of medical services. The customer service from the staff and "House Supervisors" was a very unpleasant experience for my father and mother at the hospital. There were some LVNs that were exceptional but for the most part, I had to file two grievances against one CNA that attended my father. This LTAC came highly recommended by a physician here in San Antonio. From first hand experience, this is no where near what was expected. It was worse than what we were told.

2nd time customer, some of the staff is old some of it is new. but they do seem to be trying hard to overcome the impact of less medicare dollars, shortage of staff and all the downsizing medicare incentives which are now penalties have caused. The greatest improvement is humility, Although they a way to go towards excellence they still have a decent facility for critically ill and vulnerable patients. The organization for critically ill is better, but cannot say the regular hospital is too bad. I do feel safe enough. helps if you keep on them and advocate for yourself. Signed P V Guerra

Very disappointed. After arrival, my loved one waited over six hours before her meds were delivered. Many were overdue and after five hrs we asked how much longer, we saw the paperwork wasnt very far along. Too long for someone to respond to call or follow through with requests; like a nursing home, not a hospital. A couple of issues discussed with someone suppose to be in charge were never addressed. We are hoping things will get better soon or we will be moving her. Shame on them.
