I arrived in a panic thinking that my cat was possibly having a heart attack , I had spoken to Dr. Vick before I left my house ,he assured me that he would call the clinic and let them know they had an emergency situation arriving . When I arrived they told me that there were no veterinarians in the hospital that they would be arriving in about 15 to 20 minutes . Of course this shocked me because Dr. Vick assured me that somebody would be standing by for the arrival of my pet . I decided it would be less stress on my animal if I waited there rather than picked him up and took him to the emergency vet which also wouldve cost me twice the money . About 10 minutes later a Very young very pretty Lady came out and spoke with me regarding my animal she looked at his gums and told me hes not in an emergency situation , And that he would be seen in order of arrival . I didnt think that this was appropriate as I believed I was specifically going there being called in as an emergency . I had the cat wrapped in a towel because I didnt want to take the time to put them into a carrier and stress him out further so I asked this young woman who apparently was a nurse if she would please go to my car and get my phone . She looked at me as if I asked her to name her first born after me !!she looked at me with total disgust on her face and told me she wasnt comfortable going into my car ??? My car is in immaculate Lexus thank you very much no concerns there ... I asked her just do me a favor hold my cat for one sec, I ran to the car and on my way out I Slurred under my breath "you Flippin serious" ????? I got my phone and I was texting to Dr. Vic since my cat was on my lap I was speaking quietly and politely letting them know that there was no doctor there and I was asked to wait I also told him about the nurse not wanting to run to my car which was literally 10 feet outside the door to get my phone . I admit I was in a panic this is my cat my ! I just spent $500 on him a week ago now I was planning on spending another 500 I dont care but when somebody tells me to go to the hospital that there is a vet waiting for you that you have been called in as an emergency and then somebody else tells you that youre going to be seen as arrived and not a nice way , and then 10 minutes later after Ive already wasted 30 minutes of my cats life come back and tell me to leave !! Im sorry that I feel that people should be slightly more understanding of cat parents when they are in a state of panic . I didnt swear I said Flippin for the record I will never go back I will never recommend this place . What a lack of concern for an animals well being! Only want $$$$$$$$$. Shame on you !!! Every person leaving " jokes" about how expensive they are . I would pay double to have a vet who has a few years under his belt VS a young nurse who obviously has graduated from the school no emotion. Like she has never never said a curse word if her pet were suffering. I would have helped a stranger quicker than any employee at that hospital!!! Shame !

Let me first say that Ive used vets in Five different states for everything from horses and livestock to dogs and cats. These folks are as good as it gets, and Ive had some good vets. Recently, our little dog, Bailey was rushed to a 24 hour facility at 2am with a very high fever. The care was courteous and with quality, but the suggested tests were estimated between $500-$800. The clinic would close at 8am (now 4am), so, I would have to pay $255 transfer fee, or relocate her myself. After concluding that she was in no immediate danger for the next few hours, I took her home, and then to KIngshighway as soon as they opened. The care was professional and prompt as usual. The entire treatment, including xray, blood, urine, et al, with 2 weeks rxs was $161. Dr. Gowan calls you at home to check on the pet. If you leave a pet, they call you 2x a day with updates. The office staff is kind, courteous, and helpful. They offered coffee. Folks, I know many vets, Ive worked with many vets, I have vets as friends. The team here is just simply unbeatable for level of care, service, and price. You simply CANNOT do better for your pets! If you live in Austin, San Antonio, Lockhart, or the HIll Country, drive the extra miles and save money. You may very well save your pet, too! If youre already in San Marcos area, this is a no-brainer John "Hoppy" Hopkins

Ive been meaning to review Kings Highway Animal Clinic for a while. After going to several vets in town and having bad experiences with several, I read excellent reviews on KH and took my two dogs there. They try hard to be affordable and will work out payment plans for larger expenses. I have received only excellent service from people who truly seem to care about animals. I have two key examples of this service. Firstly, my dog ate something and became sick at about 10pm. Now we had spent 1,000 in New Braunfels at an after-hours clinic before just to have it "pass" without diagnosis. I wish I could remember the vets name right now, but when I called her she immediately dropped what she was doing (eating dinner) and met me at the clinic to look at our dog. I think the total charge was 40.00 - amazing. Secondly, when my husband and I took jobs in South Korea, she helped us with all of the extensive paperwork, going so far as to drive a document up to Austin herself to make sure it got there on time. That, to me, is going far above and beyond. We are back in San Marcos now and will absolutely continue to go to KH.

I took my puppy in two weeks ago and saw one of the male vets there, I told him she wasnt eating and that her eyes were blood shot. He wrote it off as her being stubborn and allergies. Took her in yesterday and saw the female vet who did blood work on her and she sent us immediately to Austin Emergency Vet because my baby was in renal failure. We make it to the parking lot & she starts throwing up. My husband didnt even pull in just stops, I open the door grab her and my baby DIED IN MY ARMS IN THE PARKING LOT. He took her & rushed her in & they tried CPR and could not bring her back. Had this naive "vet" listened and checked my baby and did blood work two weeks ago my baby could still be here. I would never take another living creature here. My heart is broken and so is my husbands and had this "vet" that I trusted my baby to, took the time to check her, instead of giving her another vaccine which actually probably did more damage to her kidneys then my baby may still with me today instead tomorrow I go to her memorial service while he goes on his merry way.
