I was a patient at Nova Medical Group for 6 years. I had bad experiences with this practice for years, however I was unable to identify a convenient and available alternate primary care physician. Spotty care, doctors not following up on my care, the revolving door for doctors leaving the practice, misinformation from nurses and nursing assistants, bad follow up after blood tests, periodic experiences with unpleasant receptionists, and Nova policies which are more oriented toward making money than patient care (like holding prescriptions hostage unless you pay for unnnecessary repeat visits) are some of the reasons I stopped using them. Even the good doctors seem unable to provide adequate care, probably due to caseload being too high and production being overemphasized. Ultimately my final straw was losing yet another good primary care physician to leaving the practice and I found a new primary care physician outside of this practice. I recently used them for urgent care, and my nurse practitioner and I made a plan for treatment with antibiotics for 2 weeks, with the plan that I might need a second course, which I could call in for if I wasnt fully recovering. I called in for a refill as I was not feeling as well as I would expect after 10 days and was leaving town. Instead of my nurse practitioner continuing my care and her plan, a different nurse practitioner said I had to come in, since 2 weeks was following CDC guidelines. Another example of prescription hostage taking. Well, I read the CDC guidelines, and what she said was inaccurate. The CDC recommends 10-21 days of the antibiotics in my situation, and longer for joint involvement. They do not suggest repeat examination is required after a 14 day course. Beyond this, I am leaving town, and dont have the option of going in, so would be left symptomatic, thus potentially infected, and without antibiotics. Perfect way to promote antibiotic resistance. I will never return to this practice.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. As a new patient I went for a physical. After waiting 30 minutes for the doctor I waited another20 for the lab tech who never came. I had to leave the exam room and go to the front desk to get someone. They showed up 10 minutes later. About a month had passed since my visit and I realized I never got a call or email for my lab results. I had to call them for my results!!! I had dangerously high triglycerides. Probably would have been good not to sit on that information for a month. It gets worse!!! After my visit I was called to participate in a study. I figured sure, if it will help people including myself, why not? I arrived at 10 Am (my apt time) and as I walked through the door I was called by them to say they did not have the paperwork and could not do the study. Did they not realize this BEFORE I drove all the way there?? And the kicker to all this is I just got a bill from them stating I owe $5 from November (it is May). That is fine but in the itemized list of services there is a $23 "Counsel Smoking" fee. I told the Doctor I smoke occasionally and she said I should stop. No duh. that conversation certainly isnt worth $23. My insurance paid for it but it is fraud. I never accepted that charge. I have called their billing department and the person who answered the phone was no help at all. Pretty much told me to suck it up because they are authorized to charge it. I told her she was not helping and asked for her boss. I have been on hold 15 minutes now. This place is horribly unorganized, unprofessional and unethical. Huge thumbs down!

Horrid, I went in because I felt so ill, upon arriving I was in very good spirits hopeful theyd take care of me. They diagnosised me with the flu... the diagnosis was quick. Too quick... after diagnosising me they summed up all my problems to the "flu" however I made it very clear I had a signal infection before I got sick and currently. I also explained I was very dehydrated and super congested but the fever got me draining, so they prescribe a medicine thats Main side effect is "nasal congestant"... Yes lets harden the mucus that already doesnt want to drain so it feels like razor-sharp blades and tears my throat lining further... to me this was a huge indication of lack of listening and understanding... This "Urgent Care" should renamed "URGENT HURRY GTFO WITH NOCARE" However Staff seemed friendly at first... but their actions and lack there of show they face behind the mask. I also never saw a Doctor just a nurse practitioner... I looked that up... This trend has sparked controversy among physicians and patients alike. While so-called "mid-level" providers" (NPs and PAs) are undoubtedly essential to fill the gaps left by the current drought of doctors, there is some concern that the responsibilities being shouldered by these men and women arent appropriate, given their level of training and expertise. The fact I was prescribed a congestant, very clear examples the above mentioned. I understand theres a shortage of MDs its very nice Nurses have take a step up... but if this is the case they need the proper training, a mistake could lead to a fatality...

Heres what is required to fill ONE PRESCRIPTION for my 77 year old mother: one patient portal email, one follow up call, 2 in person visits to the Ashburn office to pick it up, a five hour wait for the courier after it was (erroneously!!!) transferred to the Leesburg office (nurse tried to blame Mom!), three follow up phone calls, 7 minute wait on hold until I was transferred to a number that rang and rang, and now on hold for another 10 minutes before I was rudely interrupted while receptionist checks on it. Back on hold...on a FRIDAY NIGHT when I need to go out of town. So instead of heading out of town, Im going to fight traffic (if the prescription show ups) to NOVA medical in Leesburg and then fight traffic to go to the pharmacy. Did I mention I started this process 48 hours ago!? Unbelievable!

Their wait times are terrible, even first thing in the morning. If they open at 8, and your appointment is at 8 or 815, still expect to be seen half and hour to an hour later. And this happens consistently (not just once). The doctors are great but you can tell they are pressed for time; good luck getting any of your medications refilled because they do not respond to pharmacist requests or follow up after requesting in person. After the merger with INOVA, I never got a call back when they were able to reschedule a follow up with my primary and was almost dropped from my insurance care management program. I feel sorry for the overworked (non-medical and medical) staff, but the care provided suffers terribly. If you need urgent care, go to Dr. Alykhan at Loudoun Walk-in in Ashbrook Commons.

I went in today for something that I knew was going to be very painful. If it werent for the doctor I had I dont think I would have made it all the way through. Before we started I knew I was in for a world of hurt, she knew I was in for a world of hurt, but she walked me through everything she would be doing which helped to calm me down. Throughout the process I would begin to get very tense and my breathing erratic but whenever this was the case she would calm me down and help me slow my breathing while still doing her work as quickly and painlessly as possible. She made what could have been a very negative unpleasant visit into an overall positive and happy one. Im new in the area but from now on Ive found the doctor Im going to.
