Approximately two years ago, my wife and I decided that we would like to investigate chiropractic care. We read various articles in health journals, and also talked with friends who had participated in chiropractic care regarding their experiences. One of my friends recommended the Family Chiropractic Center of Richmond. During my first appointment, one of the doctors asked why I decided to try chiropractic care. My response was that I had always been curious about it, and I wanted to see if it would help with some of the pain I was experiencing in my back and leg. I also was honest admitting that I heard several people say that chiropractic care wasnt really something that would help me. I learned that the pain down my leg was Sciatica, and I shared that I had been living with this condition for years. Following my visit, I attended a program one night at FCC explaining conditions such as Sciatica, and methods to address these conditions. After several adjustments, use of ice, and performing the daily exercises prescribed by FCC, I noticed that my back felt better. I also noticed that the pain in my leg was gone. It’s been almost 18 months since I’ve suffered from Sciatica and back pain, and I’m confident that I can handle this situation as long as I continue with the program FCC provided. I’ve also become a little smarter in choosing my activities and knowing when to stop doing something that may cause a problem. My wife and I look forward to our visits at FCC and consider the staff to be part of our family. As for the concerns that kept us from using chiropractic care, we now recommend this treatment to our friends and others who share health issues that may be addressed with this care.

If you are looking for a thorough and comprehensive analysis of your condition – this is the place to go. I’m not comfortable with medication always being the answer unless it actually IS the answer. Having been treated by physicians who typically gravitate towards a drug-based solution – it was refreshing to find a more objective diagnosis through Dr. Carlsen’s office. Don’t misunderstand – if there is ANY reason to have a medical opinion on your condition - that option will be recommended because it has in several of my situations. I’d rather try a drug-free approach first - unless there is no other option. Here you will find that objectivity. You may need a series of treatments based on your condition but there is no other motive in that than getting you well! I was a skeptic at first about Chiropractic but when I received actual and dramatic results through my treatments – it is now the only way to go and the first step I take with any issue I might have.

I was in a car accident that caused much back pain. After being talked into committing much time and money, the sessions only increased my pain over 2 months to the point where I saw an orthopedic spine doctor. MRI tests showed these chiropractors actually sprained my spine, then lied in the court case regarding the accident I was in stating that I had said I had back prolems since high school to cover their rears. In addition, their lie caused my settlement to be reduced to virtually nothing and I am still in much pain and ongoing medical treatment years later. I will never forgive them for any of this.

Out of all the doctors I have been to, no one spent the time that the doctors at Family Chiropractic Center of Richmond did. I felt like they listen and really want to help me! After several years, I am an advocate for chiropractic care because of the difference it made in my life. The staff is wonderful and it really is like family there.
