Practitioners are great but I have had trouble with MAs, nurses and office staff. The wait time is usually between 30-60 mins for me. One time I was told by the ultrasound tech to hold my urine, they had me in the waiting room for 1 hour, I was bursting and uncomfortable and could not hold it another minute. That visit the MA told me I was wrong about holing my urine, contradicting what the tech said, she was rushed and rude as well. I had a medical question for my practitioner, a nurse called me back, fumbled an explanation, then told me that I could talk to a midwife, but "she is just going to tell you what I already have" She then told me that if thats what I wanted I better tell her by the end of the day because, although I will be there the next day for a 3 hour test, she doesnt want "you to think you can be seen". That brings me to today, here for my 3 hour test, asked to speak to office manager about the nurse who invalidated my concerns and when she called my name I couldnt get to her fast enough, I told office staff my name was called, they told me it was not for me, but another person, that other person was called just then, they said "see? its for her" I had to practically argue with them to say that my name was called until the lady reemerged and told them she was indeed looking for me. Like I said, I like the practitioners but I have too much stress in my life to deal with the way customer service is mismanaged. Some of them are great, but the bad is VERY bad. Even the office manager - she never apologized to be for my bad experience, or used empathy and service recovery to win my back my trust, she simply said their machines are only 2 years old and she will refer me to the midwife to talk about my concerns related to inconsistent ultrasounds. I am transferring to another OBGYN 29 weeks pregnant because of staff issues and wait times. Thats pretty bad when your practitioners are great but staff is so bad they lead me to this decision. Also a midwife I just sealed the deal on my transfer, she actually defended the nurse who invalidated my concern, she never told me my feelings were valid and understandable, she just complained about being an hour and half behind. NOT ONE PERSON apologized for the confusion and poor treatment. I guess they know in the healthcare business they are going to make money and dont need to worry about service and how patients are treated. Im in healthcare and I disagree. What they need to do: hire ALL staff with excellent customer service skills! Use kindness, empathy and understanding! (you deal with pregnant women!)

... Thought this practice was o.k. at first til my mid-pregnancy when they wanted me take my 3-hr glucose testing... They told me to eat eggs, and i did but come find out i failed my 1st hr of the 3-hr glucose testing.. But I was just told by an EVMS nurse that was wrong, i shouldnt eat anything during the 3-hr glucose testing, So i switch to a New OBGYN office, to do another test and by any change if i do have G.D then atleast i kno that the testing was done properly.... Womans care however wanted me to take another 3-hr glucose testing around my 26-28weeks of my pregnancy, and again i ate something that morning of cause i was told i was aloud to, when i got into office they pricked my finger, and. I just simply asked the nurse that pricked my finger why i have to do another 3-hr glucose test, she said good question and went back to ask some1.. Then she came back and send me to the waiting room for my Dr.. I waited, and i never saw a Dr instead i saw a midwife.. And she told me that I had G.D and refered me to EVMS, which im glad i didnt go because before i go, i wanna kno if i really had GD or not first... So yes my husband and I switched OBGYN.. Womans care is terrible about doing accurate testing.. I wouldnt trust them for anything and differently wonld NOT recommend to any1... Now im 34weeks prego and om still blaming womans care for doing my testing all wrong.. Not to mention, if i didnt go to EVMS like they wanted me to, they said they wont deliver my baby cause they dont wanna be reliable for what happens, even thro they did a wrong test in the beginning..So please think twice about picking them as your Drs ladies...

I was new to the practice in 2009; and I had emergency surgery. Dr. Hughes- OB/GYN performed my surgery; and administered the best care to me! He advised his staff that he wanted me to follow up, even if I didnt have coverage! This is exactly what he told me, and he advised his staff. I was amazed because most providers wouldnt even care! He was very attentive and supportive. Since then, he has served as my GYN. Even when I moved to another state; I flew in for my care with Dr. Hughes because I knew that he set the bar so high, I wouldnt be satisfied seeing anyone else. He is highly professional and he never rushes, and addresses all of my concerns and provide education materials for me to do my own research. He always asks my opinion on my own assessment on how Im feeling or what I think would be the best route for my care- upon providing me with all of the facts and options. This is the respect that he shows to his patients because no one knows their body better than themselves- if they pay attention! Most MDs are not aware that bedside manner is everything, and thats why I choose to go to Womancare Centers. I have seen other Doctors in this practice and they are just as humble; attentive and kind. No one has influenced me to write this review. I have been referring people here since I found this practice. Its the best!!!!

I absolutely love this practice. Everyone is friendly and warm. Ive been a patient of Dr. MaryBeth Dixon for over 12 years. She is very warm and ensures all your questions are answered. I really appreciate the efforts made to be more modern - office space, rooms, and the ability to check your records and notes online. I am also able to communicate with Dr. Dixon through a secure patient portal, and this is great when I need to review the information that was discussed during past appointments. I am also able to ask questions and receive answers in a timely manner. Id recommend making appointments early and soon because most doctors availability is limited because of demand, Typically, I will make my appointments about 2 - 3 months before needed for annuals or follow-ups.

I cannot rave enough about this practice. My first born was born in another state and I had a very rough experience. I was worried going into my second pregnancy. When I got pregnant the second time my friend recommended this practice to me and Im so happy I became a patient here. All of the doctors and midwives are amazing. I was not expected to make it to full term with this pregnancy based off of how my first pregnancy went. I made it to full term with flying colors with the watchful eye of the providers. They truly care about you and your baby and you dont feel like "just another patient". The front office staff and nurses are also great and so sweet and caring. Do yourself a favor and consider this practice for your OB care. You wont regret it.
