I adopted a puppy from the Gloucester Animal Shelter two days before Christmas. With my puppy, came a certificate for a free exam at any local vet. Two days after Christmas, I noticed that my puppy had worms; which I know is common in puppies, especially ones from a shelter. I started calling around to vets in the area. In general, they were not informative, or helpful, on the phone and told me that the certificate did not cover a complete physical, which is required for all puppies. When I called Jolly Pond they offered an appointment the same day and said they would accept the certificate. I asked for an estimated cost of the appt. They estimated about 1/2 of what all the other vets quoted. Dr. Gussman was AWESOME!! She spent a long time with me and my puppy. She offered free samples, gave my puppy a complete exam, shots, showed me how to trim his nails, treated the worms (without insisting on a test first to confirm since I had already seen the worms), and she even offered her personal email address in case I had any questions. I will never go anywhere else!!

I must say that before my most recent experience I was pretty happy with the treatment for out animals, however, yesterday I was very unhappy., our cat had been diagnosed with cancer in July , and, I knew yesterday it was time to put her to rest. I had a 2;45pm appt. I was willing to wait for another day, but this was the time I was given, we arrived on time, did not see the vet for 35mins, she gave the cat a sedative, told us she would be back in 10 mins, 20mins later I was upset and had to ask for someone to see to our cat. It is hard enough to put your animals down without sitting there for nearly an hour, when you know whats coming. I f you are so busy that you cannot see a patient on time, do not give me the appt. This procedure takes approx. 5 mins we where there for over an hour. I am seriously thinking of finding another vet.

For my temper tantrum cat, Jolly Pond vets and staff take excellent care of her in spite of her howls, hisses and slashes from her razor claws. She is just not an easy animal to vet. Doctors are very through and very kind to her. I take her for her annual shots and then had her teeth cleaned and claws snipped as well as her back fender fur trimmed. Bloodwork is never easy to get from her, but they do manage and she recovers her happy disposition once home and happy with a treat! No kidding, I have the worlds WORST tractable feline when it comes to taking her to the vet, Im impressed with the staff and Dr. Ruth Gussman is the best for cats. She ran tests and researched and discovered my kitty had hyperthryoid blood levels. Now things are much better! Cant recommend them enough. And support your local vets by purchasing medications from them!

The Vet seemed competent and was very friendly to us and our dog. What really got us riled up was this clinics refusal to work with any sort of alternative means to attain Pet RX medicines. They insisted we buy our flea and heart worm medicine from them (at a substantial markup) and were down right obtuse when our pharmacy of choice tried to contact them and verify the prescription. Will not be going back. If you need emergency service or to get your dog checked out - no problems. But dont expect them to work with you getting your pet meds anywhere else.

Dr. Ruth Gussman is WONDERFUL! Knowledgeable and personable, she was very thorough and gentle when treating my new cat, who has been through a lot of life-threatening medical trauma in her short life. An abandoned kittie who was rescued by Pawsitively Precious and had to undergo multiple surgeries to save her, the staff at Jolly Pond was already very familiar with and invested in her health. Cheerleaders for her, the staff, and particularly Dr. Gussman, celebrated her miraculous recovery and hopefully will be there for her in her new life for years to come.

After watching my beautiful (7 yr old) black Lab in a world of hurt - I really thought I was going to lose her. It was the Memorial Day weekend and she was limping and wouldnt eat for days and just sat around and could barely walk. After bringing her to Jolly Pond, they performed immediate surgery on her and did not price gauge. Twenty four hours after the surgery, my dog was back to normal. She is doing fabulous and I cant thank Dr. Brown enough for saving my best friend.

Dr. Brown has been a reliable & caring expert on rabbits and seems to be the areas authority. Ive used other vets that have used the fact that they trained under Doctor Brown as a validation of their own credentials. When its really important, its worth the trip (45 minutes for us.) Also very good staff and still reasonable prices.

My wife and I are new to the area. Our dog has been experiencing some difficulties and so I called jolly pond and ask if they could see them anytime after 5 because we work. She said NO. She Never tried to acomidate us by suggesting a Saturday or anything. Just No.. And thats it. Well its on to the next vet....

Rabbits have a real friend in Dr. Brown. Very few vets know how to treat bunnies whose needs are quite different from small cats and dogs. She has given such wonderful and compassionate care to our rabbits over the years. Our current bunny, Empress Josephine Bunnyparts endorses these sentiments.

Dr. Gussman is a caring and wonderful doctor who took her time with my dog. However, the receptionists are short and seem like you are wasting their time.
