Dr. Rothschild has been my trusted vet for many years. The horses I take in are all rescues and not easy cases. Without her expertise I believe most of them would not have been able to be rehabilitated. She sees all horses as equals regardless if they are a prize winning dressage horse or a 35 year old blind arthritic Cushings rescue covered in lice and emaciated. I chose Northwest Equine Veterinary Associates because they are the best, not because they are the cheapest. Yes, their services can be more expensive but I wanted my horses to have the best care available and I am confident that the do indeed receive that. I have referred many friends to see Dr. Rothschild when they have not had the answers they were seeking from other vets, especially concerning eye issues. I have always been thanked for the referral and been told what an amazing job Chantal has done with their horse(s). I have had many veterinary emergencies over the years and Dr. Rothschild has saved their lives on numerous occasions. I believe that if anything can be done to save them, she will act quickly and do what needs to be done to save their lives. My pony and mini had gotten into the feed storage and ate almost a full bag of grain. She came as soon as I had called and medicated, pumped their stomachs, and tubed them. My pony did come down with laminitis after that emergency but there was no rotation of the coffin bone and because of her quick thinking and care plan he is perfectly sound with no damage done from that episode. We have also made it through episodes of colitis and one episode where my mini did not make it despite our best efforts. My pony did survive colitis twice thanks to her care. My mini had been on IV fluids and antibiotics for a few days when he had torn out his IVs and started thrashing at 4am. Dr. Rothschild came immediately and administered medications to manage his pain and keep him comfortable. He was going septic and passed away while we were getting him ready to transport to the vet hospital. I was in such shock but comforted that I knew everything that could have possibly been done to save him was done. Everything Dr. Rothschild does is with compassion and she always has the animals best interest in mind. She comforted me and made all the arrangments so that I would not have to make those calls in my state of grief. Recently, my 25 year old rescue Fjord horse had coliced and it ended up being a large colon torsion where a displacement had gone into a twist. It had come on so fast and was the last thing I expected. Dr. Rothschild explained the surgical options to me and I elected to have him humanely euthanized at home rather than put him through surgery. She respected my wishes and he was sedated and euthanized peacefully. There is no one I would have rather been with at that time. I know she cared for him as her patient just as much as I cared for him as his person. We cried together and again, she took care of the arrangments so I wouldnt have to make those calls through my tears. I trust her completely and because of her expertise and advice I was able to give another year to a 35 year old rescue named Dennis. He had been one of the worst neglect cases I had ever seen. He was crippled with arthritis and blind from untreated uveitis, glaucoma, a head trauma, and a massive cataract. She gave me hope for him and a care plan to make his last year a great one. Because of her treatments, he was able to have the joy of being able to move pain free and have a great quality of life while he was with us. She always treated him with kindness even though he was less than kind to people in general. He was hard to work with but she never became frustrated even when things took more time than they should have because of his attitude. Weve gone through the best of times and the worst of times. I trust Chantal completely and feel very fortunate to have found such a knowledgeable and compassionate vet. Sabrina Connaughon

We had a horrible experience with this vet just yesterday. Our beloved horse of 18 years somehow pinched an intestine and was slowly fading and we had to find a vet to put her down. We called this vet as a last resort and it was the worst decision that we ever made. As soon as Dr. Chantal Rothschild opened up the door of her suburban she began shooting up our horse with shots without our consent! When we asked her what she was doing to our horse she got up in our face telling us that we were cruel to our animals and was threating to call animal control and have our animals taken away. She was going to turn us in because we wanted to get a second opinion on whether or not to euthanize the horse just to be sure nothing else could be done. Though she was somewhat knowledgeable, she had no regard at all for our opinion. When we would ask a question she would talk down to us and our family has owned horses for over 70 years and know a lot about horses. This was a hard time for us and she only made this time even harder making a lot of our family turn to tears. This vet was more worried about the money then anything. After calling around the next day to different vets, we learned that we were ripped off almost scammed in a way. She charged us about ten times more than a vet usually would. The fact that this lady would take advantage of our family in the time of need is just horrible and this fact hurt the most. Also from calling around to different vets we also have learned that this has happened to many other people and that she was just as rude to everyone else. Rude is a polite way of saying how she treated my family. There is no way that this lady should be treating and helping horses. In the end if there was another vet that was available we would have choose them instead in a heartbeat!!! This woman has severely hurt our family forever on how this situation was worked out. We wish that we would have never had this uncaring woman on our property. Our horse was in pain and we wanted her to go peacefully, but in the end my family had the burden of being hurt. For anyone reading this review stay far away from this vet because surely you will have the same thing happen to you. We don’t want anyone else to have to be in the situation we were put in.

Dr. Rothschild has been my horses vet for several years, and she has been professional and great to work with! She always takes the time to explain what is happening and to answer my questions. It is obvious that Dr. Rothschild cares deeply for the well being of horses and will discuss all options and how they will affect my horse, so that I am properly informed on what courses of action will likely make my horse more comfortable. Vet bills are inevitable, but the experience, knowledge, and high level of service provided by Dr. Rothschild more than make up for it!

Dr Rothschild is very kind & gentle. I was impressed with the first meeting as she proceeded to win the trust of my mini horse. when she came to float her teeth I know Dr Rothschild was uncomfortable cause my horse is short but she hung in there and did a fabulous job. Each drug administered was explained to me what the results would be. Each procedure was fully explained to me. And if I have any questions she will take the time to answer fully so I understand. She will be my vet hopefully forever!!
