I was looking for a vet I could collaborate with in the care of my older pooch. I went to Dr. Gurm because his clinic was right down the street. He diagnosed her moderate eye irritation as seasonal allergies, her hair loss on her back as a flea infestation, and told me I needed to get her on heartworm medication immediately. I asked about giving her fewer vaccines because I read animals are getting cancer from too many vaccinations, and he dismissed anything I might have "googled." (It was something Id read on WSUs veterinary colleges website.) I then took my pooch to Evergreen Hospital to Dr. Cullen. She did a test on my dogs eyes--she had an ulcerated cornea, which meant losing sight in that eye without treatment. She diagnosed her hair loss as seasonal flank alopecia, common for her breed come to find out and prescribed melatonin in the winter months to beef up her Vitamin D stores (it works!) She also suggested doing titres if I didnt want to have her vaccinated so often--it tests her serum level of vaccines to see if she actually needs a booster yet. And the doc also said most dogs in Western Washington dont need heartworm medication unless theyre taken to, or exposed to dogs from, southern regions where the temps get over 64 degrees 24 hours a day for a month straight. Most heartworm cases here are actually dogs brought in from somewhere else. Dr. Gurm eventually might have hit on the right diagnoses, but that would have cost me more time and money (and distress for the dog) than I was willing to allow.

Upon writing a negative Yelp review, Ive received several harassing emails from this business suggesting that I am uneducated, irresponsible, bored on the internet, childish, and much more. I came here with a small Yorkie that needed a spay. I told Dr. Gurm several times that she was a dog from my personal litter (shes 3 lbs), and upon picking her up from surgery, he claimed that she had been bred (not a chance) and that made her glands difficult to remove, so she was in an extra amount of pain. After I repeated to him for at least the third time that she was never bred (I doubt she would even carry pups at her size), all he could do was stumble for his words. Dr Gurm also called me before the surgery and left two different voice mails stating that first, her blood work was "satisfactory", and then the next day that it was "excellent". Which is it? If you have something negative to say, they will definitely harass you. They also posted my cell phone number on an internet forum. Take your business elsewhere! If you do come here, be prepared for bad service, terrible written English, and a salesperson approach to business. This is the typical vet you hear about. Overall: Rude behavior, uninformed, lacking professionalism, and very hard to communicate with.

I searched for a vet when my six and half year old Golden became sick. I was impressed with the hours of availability and the vets. Dr Gurm and Dr Roche and their staff saw Allie through a splenectomy and after care. While Allie did not survive her cancer - Juanita Hills Animal hospital and their staff are now taking care of my Golden puppy - I couldnt think of taking her anywhere else. My opinions and research are respected when it came to information about Allies health care decisions, as well as now with Bailey. I found their pricing reasonable, their care compassionate and wont hesitate to drive to have my new puppys health attended to. I found them to be cognizant of my budget at all times, and did Allies surgery. They follow up with calls to see how your pet is doing. Bailey - my six month old Golden was spayed yesterday and I received a phone to check in on Bailey. I really appreciate the care that my pets and also myself receive here. As always, this is my experience and YMMV.

This "animal" hospital should be called a "Dog Clinic" because Ive taken my cats here multiple times and they are clueless about cats (the vet didnt know the duration of a cats pregnancy, she had to look it up online!!). They had no wet food recommendations but told me what they recommend for dogs and said "that brand should be fine". They only carry dog treats and dog food in the lobby which is disappointing because Royal Canin stuff can be hard to find sometimes. Also, every time Im in there they make me wait for a "treatment plan" even though I dont want all their extra (expensive) recommendations. I brought my cat in for vaccines, I told them she was pregnant and they told me to still come in. I came in, they didnt do any services but gave me an estimate for an xray (that I didnt even want to do!) and still charged me $50 for an office visit. This clinic is WAY overpriced and Im tired of being "up sold" on stuff constantly.

Everyone at Juanita Bay Veterinary Clinic has been simply amazing! When my cat got very sick, and my husband and I didnt know what was going on, and we were dirt poor, Dr. Martin did everything she could to keep the costs down while still offering top notch care to my kitty, and she helped me to find a local emergency hospital that would do the same. At several points, we thought we were going to have to put our kitty down because of mounting costs, but Dr. Martin (who cried when I said I might have to put my cat down) helped us find a way to pay for our cats care. After five days in the hospital Dr. Martin referred us to (the VCA Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle in Lynnwood--they were also amazing) and a number of challenges diagnosing my cats ailment, she recovered and came back to us, good as new! I cannot praise Dr. Martin and the staff at Juanita Hills Animal Hospital enough. They saved my cats life!

Simply excellent. We moved from Renton a couple of years back and have been using this vet since then for both of our elderly dogs. We always recieved good service and respect from this office but we felt the need of writing a positive review recently when they saved Rudy from a major sickness. Our dog ended up in emergency down south and treatment was quoted to be very expensive for pancreatitis. We transferred our dog to this office in the morning and he was ready to go home the same evening with his tail wagging. We were amazed by their follow up care too. They are good at what they do and very professional too. They were efficient, cost effective (by a large) and above all very compassionate to our old dogs needs. Rudy loves them all. We cant thank them enough. Thank you Juanita Hills staff.......enjoy the cookies!

Ive had nothing but good experiences here. I would say great but one involved a death of a cat which, well, you know... But the staff was amazingly caring for my every visit. With putting the cat down I have nothing but amazing things to say; everyone was sympathetic and empathetic and considerate. It was the best possible experience you could hope for in that situation. I also took a stray cat there that got great attention and care. Plus I bought a puppy that Id previously taken to another vet which I switched to Juanita Hills Animal Hospital due to finding better quality of care there. I almost never write a review for anything, but I truly recommend this place for you and your animals.
