"Terrible Care" I took my service dog into the Banfield for what looked like a broken leg. They suggested upping my Wellness Plan to cover the needed x-rays. I agreed and the x-rays were performed. After a review of the x-rays she told me my dog had broken all the bones at the foot joint. Vet showed me the x-rays and kept suggesting that the x-rays be sent off for a second reading costing $189.99. She told me I needed to see an Orthopedic Surgeon costing $150.00. None of this covered on the Wellness Plan. Vet Splinted the leg and sent us home. I was seen at the surgeon’s office. They repeated the x-rays due to Banfields x-rays being blurry. Their finding was that my dog had two prier breaks, one was a broken toe and a fracture of in the foot and the new break was the bones in the foot joint. They suggested removing the leg. Also, they saw bladder stones on the x-ray which needed an additional surgery. They told me Banfield had wrapped the leg with the broken toe sticking out and that was the reason why my dog was in so much pain leaving their facility. Since January, I had my dog into Banfield numerous times complaining that he might be in pain for the same leg because he was attacked by another dog and he was showing signs of a bladder infection. At no time did they ever say he may have a broken bone or possible bladder stones or needed an x-ray. My surgery bill was over $3700.00 and they should be responsible for the whole amount plus the whole amount of cancelling this Wellness Plan due to the fact I will never take my dog back to their facility again. They failed him. He is the only one who suffered here. You pay for insurance for your pet and you trust their expertise that your pet is in the best care but in this case he slipped through the cracks of the system. I just want them to own up to the fact that they failed and should pay. In my opinion do not pay for the Wellness Plan or take your pet there. Go someplace else!

I adopted a kitten who, after a day and a half of ownership, became very ill with a cold I believe he got at the place he was adopted from. I was told to go here because they had a free introductory visit. They were fast about getting him in and were very friendly but from the minute I walked in they were trying to upsell me. I gave them the opportunity to make the service personalized by giving them a back story of where I was coming from, how I got him, his medical documents and history, and what I wanted out of our visit, as well as a little information about goals for him. Their focus was on their new animal wellness package (to save on the vaccines I told them he already had, and the neutering....also already done), and the flea treatment package (they checked twice...no fleas). Then they brought up a list of all the tests they could run on him and treatments for deworming and ear mites (but theyd have to run the tests to see if he even has them) along with the things that I needed to help my kitty get better which totaled around $400, but the office visit was free because of my coupon. I ended up just taking the things *I* thought he needed to get better and declining roughly $300 of tests, treatment. Not being a vet, I would have liked my them to tell me what I needed instead of making me feel like I had to take his care into my own hands in order to not feel like I am being taken advantage of. In the end none of the additional things I wanted out of the visit were addressed. But the important part is my kitten is healthy again.

My Pitt Bull Kali had surgery, which after the fact I find out that it she didnt need to be butchered but could have received a CT Scan instead. That option was never given to us. Then while in the care of Banfield during one of her many visits she ended up breaking off one of her front canine teeth and fracturing another. And all I got was "oops so sorry" and then quoting me a cost of what it would take to correct the problem when this happened under their care to begin with and not taking any responsibility for it. The doctor actually asked me not to say anything about the broken teeth so she wouldnt get in trouble. Are you kidding me??? We had enrolled Kali in the Wellness Plan at her first visit, but then the final straw came when my precious Kali unfortunately ended up dying of cancer. Banfield kept billing me as this is an annual contract that you can not get out of regardless of what the situation is. This of course was not explained to me in any way when we first signed her up. I complained to corporate about it but all I got in return was a generic response in the form of an email stating that we still have to pay for her annual Wellness Plan and yet she is no longer with us. Shame on them! All they care about is the bottom line of being the Almighty dollar. I will never again take any of my pets there again. This is not what I call good quality care. My pets are part of my family and deserve to be given good care.

If you live in the area and this is your vet, I would strongly consider moving your business elsewhere. I had a horrible experience when I recently took my dog there to get an ear infection treated. I told the vet, Dr. Zittel, what the problem was, as my dog is prone to these things, but she refused to give me the medication until she took a swab test. I was flabbergasted but there was no way I was going to let my dog go untreated. The test confirmed that my diagnosis was correct, but I was out roughly $35 dollars for the test. I seriously felt like I was being ripped off and voiced my concern, which was blatantly ignored. It was made quite clear to me that customer satisfaction at Banfield is pretty irrelevant and they will willingly rack up unnecessary charges on their customers. This company will take full advantage of anyone who comes in there -- be fair warned. I am taking my dogs somewhere else.

My Bicon had an abcess from surgery from another " bad" vet. The first stitch came out then the rest. With a 5 inch opening shaped like a football we rushed over in a storm on a Saturday night scared to death. They would not allow me to talk to a Dr. The assistant took the animal back, took 20 minutes and I could hear the dog crying and yelping the entire time, loud enough to hear through two doors, the tech came out and told be the incision needed to be sewn up. DUGH That they would be asking $549 to do it! When I explained the entire other procedure was less than that she said, "I dont know what to tell you, if you want help, thats what it costs here." PEOPLE: SAVE YOUR MONEY. They had me in tears and couldve cared less for my animal or for me. She added as we walked away, "You might want to go to a drug store and get some butterfly closures or something."
