I moved to this area in May, 2012, my circumstances were not good. I was unable to find employment and needed medical help. I went to the free clinic and they helped me (healing me, provided medications, refilled prescriptions, etc.) In August, 2013 for refills on my prescriptions, the dr. refilled my scripts and ordered free blood work, since St. Peters was providing blood work at no cost to the patient. (finally got the blood work free, had to pay lab $60) At that time they told me that the Union Gospel Mission was not taking any patients. I went back to the free clinic after the blood work and the dr. reviewed the blood test and said that the blood work looked good. So continue with the current meds. The meds were for only 3 months. On 11/21/2013 I returned to the free clinic for refills on my medication and a flu shot. The dr. I saw was angry at me for requesting refills, so angry that she wrote the scripts incorrectly and would not listen to me about writing them correctly (like the correct dosage, etc.) and told me to find another way to obtain my prescriptions. Maybe the Union Gospel....apparently, I am not to come back to the free clinic for anything. Thank you to all those who helped me.

Its free to see a real mds who is generous enough to donate his time and training to help you, but you have to wait a long time to see him...possibly several hours. Come twenty minutes before they open if you dont want to wait a long time. I had a small problem (tendonitis) that didnt require anything major/serious. I just wanted to find out what was causing me pain. On the other side, if you have money to see a private doctor you should definitely go there because the facilites, standard of care and ability to recommend further treatment and medicine will be much higher. But this is good for everyone else because sometimes you just want to see a guy who has been medically trained for 4 years to find out what wrong with you instead of just trying to figure out yourself.

So glad that there is this option out here in Olympia! They were all really wonderful people who volunteer their time. Also are very knowledgeable about other low-cost resources in the area.
