Hi Jerry, I have take issue with your comment. While this service is free you sound like you need to remember this is not a privately funded clinic, it is funded by the Federal Government only for Native American Indians with treaty rights. Each clinic is a member of 1 of 9 regions in the US that is now given funds directly from the Indian Health Board in DC so that the tribes can manage their clinic. Each clinic is set up with a budget each year according to their need as well as the level of customer service and other services. If we, the customers, have specific issues, i.e. consistent negligence from pharmacy with Rx refills (for which I have made formal complaints about) then that clinics budget can drop compared other clinics in the region. Also Jerry, please remember that this is not welfare, this is support that was written in the treaties. If there is substandard service here or at any federally funded clinic it must be brought to the attention of the community and the Federal Government. IHS started handing out the funds directly to the tribes and if the tribes are not able to handle the clinic in a professional and accountable fashion then they should have their funds dropped and the difference given to tribes with superior service. To behave as if we should be grateful for medical attention that the government promised in return for land, and instead keep quiet about substandard or rude behavior, is unconscionable and you should be ashamed. If you went to a medical provider external to the tribe Id like to see how fast you would hold your criticism if they were obnoxious, rude and negligent with your care or Rx. The person complaining about the behavior should really send a letter of complaint to IHS in DC or to the tribe in Portland OR where the funds are divided up. Im sure Portland would be very happy to cut back on funds from any tribe with a low rating (especially one that lost their accreditation!!) and pass it on to a more ethical clinic that treats all of the customers as worthy patients. In 2012 President Obama passed the BIGGEST budget in IHS history! There is no reason to demand any native American to keep quiet for their medical when the tribes and regions are raking in a large amount of money to provide a service, and they should be accountable for their actions or lack of action. Educate yourself, read up on where the funds come from (IHS) and learn about your rights within and external to the tribe before making such a damning comment. One final thought, this clinic was accredited by the Joint Commission, but that accreditation was removed. It probably wouldnt take much to find out why it was revoked, but you should take note of this. The Joint Commission is a non-profit organization that honors medical providers for improving quality and safety. Im a bit shocked that it was taken from them but people are not aware of it. Something to think of when you step into a medical clinic...

I am part of the Minnesota Chippewa, Have great coverage (Medical, Pharmacy, and dental) AND i am WHITE as F-, never get any strange looks, i am not mistreated and best of all i barely have to wait. This clinic is 100% better than St. Clairs clinic and my girlfriend works at the St. Clair clinic. When you go into the PTHA you are greeted by a very nice Veteran Security guard (yesterday he had a pair of Dachshund "wiener dogs" as his K9 Unit) you are not rushed through ANYTHING they are extremely customer based. I check in, go straight to a room, RN is waiting for me. She does her thing, Doc comes in and takes care of business after a little chitchat. My doctor misses nothing (Dr. Platt is awesome) it actually seems like everyone cares, unlike any other place i have been period. The fact that the services are free is not relevant, i still pay for full medical through my employment and will continue to do so. The negative reviews i read must be a bunch of people spoiled by their social outcome in life. Try getting treated in a V.A. hospital for cancer caused by war, A war that makes your freedoms what they are now. Love ALL of you at the PTHA, and thank you for your help.

I dont understand where some of these reviewers are coming from. I am Alaska Native and I have been a patient of PTHAs dental, pharmacy and medical services for almost 20 years now, along with my daughter who is 14 years old and she has been coming here since she was born. Back when I first started, PTHA used to provide eye care and glasses, well that service got cut out but I am happy we still have the services we do and that its not just for local Natives. They have always treated me and my family very good, and on the very rare occasion that they have not, well...they are human too. Sure I have had to wait quite a bit at times, but it was not that often, and they do their best to hurry things along and they have always apologized for it. Be happy and count your blessings for what we DO have.

If your not from puyallup tribe you can only use pharmacy and dental....while thanks for that but what if your sick or have health issues? You cant get referrals or other services needed. I come from Alaska where we treat all natives the same. If your from puyallup and go to Alaska you get All services this is very sad they treat outsiders like this the government pays for us to have healthcare yet we are refused

Evryone that is writing bad reveiws needs to stop and think....how lucky we are to not have to pay a dime. 90% of the time you can be seen same day. They have alot of people to care for so sure we have to wait sometimes. There constantly making improvements and there speeding up. Thank you PTHA.

Every time I go in have a bad experience. As a matter of fact I was just put on hold for 20 minutes and then hung up on. I recommend people to go through apple health or thru work health insurance. Just a joke of a place for health care.
