I have been taking my dog to Hurricane Animal Hospital for over a little over 2 years now. I have got nothing but excellent service. My dog had to have teeth removed, the surgery went smoothly. I received a call letting me know that the surgery was done and he was OK, and they needed to watch him for a few hours and then I could come and pick him up. I use another Animal Hospital before going to this one, and the Vet was never in the office. He took a 6 month leave and put someone else in charge of the patients he already had. I had already been a bit upset with the way they handle issues, so I decided to try another Vet. Which is how I found Hurricane Animal Hospital. He needed 2 replacement kneecaps. Even though it was an expensive surgery I never once thought about going somewhere else to get a second opinion. Someone suggested that to me, and I told them that JJ had already been established with the people who work here, and that I wasnt going to take him anywhere else. The surgery was a success. The staff was so kind and helpful through out the surgery before and after. My dog wasnt happy after bringing him home. But with the hospital and wonderful staff we made it through. Everyone who works at the Hurricane Animal Hospital is so nice, and helpful. I appreciate all they have done for us and our Yorkie. He is back to his normal running and playing self. You wouldnt even know he had surgery back in October if I didnt tell you. He has healed quite nicely. I would recommend this Animal Hospital to anyone I know that has pets. Dont hesitate to take your pet to this hospital. You will receive nothing but awesome service.

I brought in a dog from the Cabell Huntington Animal Shelter and paid for shots and care not covered by the shelter. One of the tests needed was a parasite test due to the dogs symptoms. I was really wanting to know because the dog seems to make noises whenever she has a bowel movement making me concerned whether she was in any kind of pain. The hospital said that they would have the results quickly and contact me. I never received a phone call so I called them up. I was told that they couldnt find the paperwork and that it quite possibly got sent out with another dog and that I needed to bring another sample in which is a good 18 mile drive that I wouldnt be charged for. I was told that when I dropped off the sample that someone would again call me on Saturday. I called at 2:00pm and the office was closed so I left a message and yes I was agitated. On Monday I received no phone call so I called around noon. The receptionist told me that the results were negative. Which making this hospital my primary go to for my pets health also a negative. They also seem to want to try and push extra expenses for spading thats not covered by the animal shelters like pre-anesthesia testing, catheter etc. which climbs into the hundreds. Its only an optional figure so Im not critiquing them on that, just be aware of it.

After spending $300 + and paying bill in full there was no resolution to our cats problem. We decided to go elsewhere to see if they could help us resolve the issue. Our cat was put on subscription food and the issue was resolved. Our new vet was out of the food today so I went her after calling to verify they had it. When I go in they say they cannot let me buy it b/c they forgot to bill us for a sedation charge from 2013 and that they left us a message to let us know. (Our cat was not sedated, we told them no at the time). We also were never notified and it was from almost 3 years ago. I told them that I had purchased this food from them before in 2014 and they did show that but I was told that the person should have never sold it to me. What a joke! You screwed up apparently 2x and now you wont sell me $5 cans of food b/c YOU cant get anything right. This may be a good place to take your pets but its been a complete joke and unprofessional to us!

8/1/2016 - my Weimaraner has surgery today and, while it was a difficult surgery, Dr. Sette and the staff at the hospital did a wonderful job. They dont rush the surgery and dont care how often I call with post-op questions. They are a fantastic group of professionals who truly care for their patients and their human counterparts. My furbaby means everything to me and I would not trust anyone else to treat her. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My dog has been a patient of Hurricane Animal Hospital for about two years. Dr. Sette is excellent to work with and and fantastic surgeon. He and the staff at Hurricane Animal Hospital genuinely care about their patients, and it shows. I would recommend this hospital to anyone seeking veterinarian help.

My friend took her very sick dog to them for diagnosis. On the third day, they told her to leave the dog overnight to get IV fluids. Unbeknownst to my friend, after hooking the dog up to a running IV the employees closed the facility and left at 5:30 PM and did not return until around 8AM the following morning leaving this poor dog totally unsupervised the entire night. The IV kinked, they dont know when so the poor dog did not get enough fluids and had to be taken to the Emergency Hospital. What kind of caring vets leave a dog unattended with a running IV????? I believe this so called hospital needs to be reported and I will never ever take my dog here not recommend it to anyone else I know !

We love all of the doctors and nurses at HAH. Our dog, Daisy, has had a multitude of health problems and Dr. Sette has been incredible in helping identify and diagnose all of her issues. We have appreciated his approach to her and us- taking the time to educate us on her diagnoses and how we can continue to help her. During a recent scary time when she suffered seizures and then a subsequent high fever due to a medication reaction, they were there every step of the way to help her. We love HAH :)

We got a shelter pet that had been previously hit by a car, and took our new dog there for a checkup. The vet spent a lot of time with me looking over the x-rays of her previous injuries and comparing them to new x-rays. I was surprised when they called with additional information days later, which showed me they were continuing to think about and research our dogs needs. The costs were fair and the environment was very nice.

The vets and technicians like to get to know their patients (your pets) and learn about their mannerisms which means they can understand the problems and diagnose any maladies. If there is one suggestion to be made it would be to return more of the basic examination protocol to the room where the owners can be present. Often stressed animals can be more easily reassured and relaxed in the presence of their owners.
