Before you get any major orthopedic reconstruction get multiple opinions and talk to well established strength training coaches, i.e. Mark Rippetoe, This will help you to understand your options (you have lots of options) and their outcomes. CVO&SM reconstructed my ACL using my hamstring muscles as grafts. They didnt discuss other options with me and didnt ask what activities I planned to do in the future. Since then Ive gone on to do heavy strength training, an activity that doesnt require an ACl, but it does require both hamstrings. 4 years later I still have a limp when walking down hills and wear out the soles of shoes on the affected leg. My lack of hamstring muscles limits my range of motion, speed of contraction, and has caused my affected legs calve to hypertrophy and become tight. Physical Therapists are also very slow to progress through training program, focusing on isolation movements and ignoring systematic compound movements like squatting. Also, try and walk as soon as possible. I really wish Id done more research on my condition before trusting my future with the crew at CMO&SM. I only ask that you do the same. Do some research, ask around, and think about your future.

From the appointment staff, surgery schedulers, to providers all were very accommodating during an unplanned hip surgery while visiting "home" from rural Alaska. I was given direction and follow through until able to return north of the arctic circle - where specialized health care is unavailable.
