This Dr is NOT qualified and should not be trusted with your loved pet. We brought in our pet after he began panting, coughing and started to become listless. He hastily, diagnosed our dog with Kennel Cough, and claimed he couldnt hear our dogs heart because he was "panting to hard". He was hasty in examining him and was more concerned about pumping him up full of annual shots - even after I questioned if this could wait for a few weeks when he was back to himself. I later realized he just wanted to pump him full of drugs and a false diagnosis to run up the bill. Our dogs condition worsened within the day following and we then followed our heart and went to a second opinion (Advanced Animal Hospital in Greenfield - HIGHLY RECOMEN DED!!) The staff there was completely diffferent, very compassionate and just wanted to help us and help our dog more than anything, even though we had never been there before. Even though our dog was large (85lbs), the dr. lifted him onto the table noting he wanted to get a good look, this is something the other vet never did - he just examined him on the floor - which I now sadly realize was not a very complete examination. Dr. Vanderver at Advanced Animal Hospital found within a few mins that the panting and coughing was caused because our dog had his heart rate at twice what it should be and he was going into Congestive Heart Failure. Because of the initial diagnosis by the money hungry unqualified dr at American Vet Clinic, we sadly lost our dear friend. Im most frustrated that after Dr. Chugtai saw how sick our dog was, he insisted that he needed all of his shots - which Im now convinced only made things worse. This vet is money hungry and unqualified. Had he taken the time to thrououghly examine our dog, we may have been able to save his life. I only regret we hadnt gone to the second opinion doc from the beginning, if we had we may still have our loving furry companion with us. Please be cautious, Id hate to see anyone suffer the frustration & heartbreak we had to with Amer. Vet Clinic. The vet that you choose should be passionate about animal care and work with you, this dr did not explain anything to us, he got irritated when we asked questions and was very rushed during the examines. Its clear he is in the business for the money not the well being of the pets that are unfortunately trusted to his care. This dr is NOT TO BE TRUSTED!!!!!!!! I would give him no rating at all, as in my eyes he is beyond poor, but the form insists at least a 1 star rating - which I assure you this dr is not deserving of.

I have never experienced such poor quality service from a veterinarian. We boarded our 11 year old 16lb dog over thanksgiving this year. When we picked her up, we were greeted with an extra $110 charge because they decided to do a screening without ever calling to confirm with us that we even wanted the screening done at this time (she isnt due for another month). They also returned her covered in dried excrement and her blanket in a plastic bag. Her favorite toy was not returned (probably because it was also covered in her waste). She has not had an accident in the house since she was a puppy, so the only conclusion we have is that she was not walked while she was boarded. Instead of cleaning her when they got back to the office, they gave her to us in this condition. We asked for her to have a bath - which they did on the spot, but the excrement was caked on there so much they had to shave the back half of her fur (which we were keeping long for her to stay warm in the winter months). I am furious and will NEVER bring our sweet dog to this place again.

I have never been so impressed with an animal hospital before like I am with American veterinary hospital. Dr. Chugtai is a very patient, understanding, informative, and compassionate person. He takes the time with every one of his patients to make sure he is properly diagnosing any medical concern/issue. He also takes the time with the owners to explain each diagnosis thororughly. The assistants that work there are also just as compassionate with the animals as the doctor is. Each and everyone of them efficiently check the animal in, as well as go over any discharge info at the time of checking out. Not only are the staff and Doctor the best in the field, but the prices are too! Compared to any other clinic whose prices are outrageously expensive, the prices at AVC are completely affordable! They have monthly specials, pet packages, accept care credit, and the doctor works with you to get you an estimate of visits/procedures that you can afford. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone and everyone! You will not be disappointed! :)

This place, although it looks nice, is the worst vet Ive ever been to. I inherited my mothers animals and took them here because that was the vet she took them to. BIG MISTAKE. I asked them to switch all of her animals to my name, no big deal right? WRONG! I took one cat in for skin lesions, $300 later Im putting medicated drops on her lesions and chasing her around trying to give her fish oil, to no improvement. Back to the vet I go because she is way worse. Vet says its most likely cancer and even if biopsied, she would be dead before the results came back! They could have said that a month earlier and saved her suffering. Two weeks later I received a postcard addressed to my dead mother to remind her that her now dead cat needed a vaccination. I could have let that go if I didnt just receive a notice addressed to myself telling me my cat that has been dead 2 years needs a vaccine!!! Seriously, STAY AWAY from this place!!!!!!

Princes is a Shih Tzu, at age 7 the tear ducts got plugged causing dripping and excessive moisture caused irritation around her eyes and complicated her condition. Princes is 9 years old now. For the last 2 years I have been taking Princes to different Veterinarians, it escalated to an Eye specialist, and no miracle, not even to manage her symptoms. As days months went through it was more difficult to maintain the eye area clean. It was not fun for her or me. It was hard to accept that no one could cure PRINCES’S eyes. I could not give up. Until finally, I decided to try American Veterinary Clinic, Princes eye condition has improved to a 90%, her symptoms have diminish, a surgery was suggested but she is getting older, and she might not survive it. I am no longer frustrated, I am happy that Princes id doing a lot better. Thank you A. Ostrowski

Our dog Walter recently had come down with a horrible cough and we couldnt take him to doggy daycare to prevent other pups from getting sick. Within minutes of the news American Veterinary Hospital saw our dog and ran a diagnostic for him. They prescribed medication for Kennel Cough and we were glad to have brought him in right away. The staff at AVH was very supportive and careful with our new dog. It has only been a day and we have noticed a tremendous difference in our dogs mood and health. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. We will always recommend American Veterinary Hospital to our friends and family because the great care Walter received!
