I liked going to the Eye Care Vision Center. They provided the service that I needed, but I think they are a bit more expensive than other options. Here are my more detailed thoughts: 1. The place looked like someone’s house from the outside. Even though it had signs that indicated it was an optometrist place and the address matched, I didn’t quite feel comfortable just walking in. Once I walked in, it looked like an eye care place. 2. The staff was courteous and respectful. They took the time to understand what my eye care insurance plan covered and what it didn’t. They did make sure to offer me the opportunity to look at their frames and purchase contacts from them, but I declined. I appreciate that they made suggestions to ensure I/they took full advantage of my insurance; however, I decided to purchase my contacts via the internet because it’s much less expensive and file the insurance paperwork myself. 3. The doctor was thorough and unassuming, qualities I like in an optometrist. The eye exam and the contact fitting included the following tests: a. Air in your eye test b. Eye dryness test (because I complained by eye pains) c. Dilated eye retina exam (for eye health) d. Can you read the letters on the screen test (for prescription) e. Can you see the numbers in the color circles test (for color blindness) f. Depth perception test 4. The doctor did print out my prescriptions for both glasses and contacts and printed recommendations of eye drops. 5. They will not price match when billing insurance. 6. They did not have an itemized receipt ready for me when I paid for the exam in full. They did offer to mail it to me the next day. 7. The price for just the eye exam and contact fitting was $153, a bit more expensive than Lens Crafters which charged $95 for a similar exam last year. Since I am used to shopping for my contact prescription online and filing my own insurance, this place is nice, but it’s not worth it to me. Before Insurance, the exam with a year’s worth of contacts would cost about $535 with no glasses. When ordering the contacts myself and using Lens Crafters for the exam, I got the eye exam and a year’s worth of contacts for $250. If you have real good eye insurance or don’t mind spending a little extra money and live near this place and looking for a full service place, I would recommend them. I walked out reassured that my eyes are healthy and an updated prescription. However, if you are trying to get your eye care needs taken care of as inexpensively as possible, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

While I was able to make an appointment within one week for my annual exam (otherwise had to wait 6 weeks with my prior optometrist, with whom Id otherwise been thrilled), and the optometrist herself was AMAZING (the part time OD who only works on Fridays, not Dr. Lind), I absolutely cannot recommend this place. I came with a pair of glasses purchased online to have the prescription checked. Since I did not purchase the glasses from the optometrist, the front desk woman refused to give me my PD to ensure my prescription for the glasses was accurate. I came with my credit card in hand to shell out $240 for a years worth of contacts, yet with the ridiculous customer service and "business practice" of not providing me with my FULL prescription, I walked out to buy my (overpriced) contacts from anywhere else. Cannot recommend, will not be back, will pass this information on to anyone who asks (family, friends, coworkers, yelp, etc). Horrible business practice.

BEWARE if you go to this place do yourself a favor and check what your insurance covers. THEY WILL NOT DO IT FOR YOU and then they will bill you after telling you something in the store that is wrong. They did it to me on a pair of glasses and it ended up costing me nearly $200 more than they said. They also do not check whether you are eligible for an eye exam as they did with my wife last year. She was about 3 weeks early, they did the exam, charged the deductible then billed me for the balance AFTER THE FACT. Another $85 that I was not expecting to pay. This year we will use another provider and all years going forward.

Sorry Dean for the confusion but you are not a patient at this office. There is more than one Eye Care Vision Center but we are located in Wauwatosa. I see you wrote the same review on a different Eye Care Vision Center on a different browser. We ALWAYS check eligibility BEFORE EVERY patients exam so there are no surprises. We are more than happy to help you with your next exam though:)

Sorry for the miscommunication Clinton because our price for your year supply is very close to Lenscrafters price. But for future reference, we always try to price match for contacts without insurance. We encourage people to shop local if possible, so please let us price match for you next time.:) Thanks for the honest review!

I had to bring my baby w/ me for my appointment and I thought it would be an issue but it wasnt. The ladies said it was no problem and that they love the babies. I thought with having him in the eye room w/ me it would be an issue for the doctor but it wasnt. The ladies are always friendly and so welcoming.

Had a problem with something in my eye scratching it, which was very painful. The staff said they would squeeze me in, so I was able to run over from work. Dr Lind and her staff were very gracious, nice clinic. Thank you so much.
