My first dental clinic experience in the US and I can safely say that it is probably the best in Buffalo, NY. Preamble: I was initially seen at Aspen Dental for an infection in the upper jaw that arose out of a throat infection during February. Without any diagnosis, the dentists at Aspen was eager to remove all of my wisdom teeth stating that they were the culprit. Aspens business model revolves on how many teeth they are able to extract and charge the patient accordingly. I was suffering from severe throat pain and needed antibiotics. They completely forgot about my condition and was busy finding the next date available for the surgeon to come in and extract all of my wisdom teeth. Patient care is the last thing on their list. I thus considered Williamsville Family Dentistry after going through the Google reviews. Pros: 1. The nurse correctly diagnosed that my wisdom teeth were fine. One had a cavity and they even wanted to keep it since there wasnt a need to remove it. 2. I had my dental cleaning done after 8 years -- but the pain of thorough scaling and cleaning wasnt anything I couldnt tolerate. Well, I got the compliment of being a trooper after the procedure was finished :) 3. Dr. Monie made the filling of an affected wisdom tooth almost painless with numbing. But the numbing process itself as also painless! She was grinding and filling in the cavity as if it was like breathing -- I dont think she even thought about what she was doing -- the procedure came so naturally to her. the whole thing was over in probably five minutes. 4. I was so satisfied that I wanted to go for another round of cleaning :) Cons: Although I didnt want to extract my wisdom teeth unless absolutely necessary, I was asked about them at the front desk while leaving and a schedule to have them extracted. I didnt like this at all because this was the very thing which Aspen did. I need to remind a dentistry that patients are *not* business models. Money might be scarce but if you are doing the right thing for the patients, money will flow in eventually.

Went because my friend referred me. They have a referral program for you and the referrer to get a $50 gift certificate. When I went first time never got anything even after mentioning who I was referred by. Second visit mentioned it again and a very snotty rude reception person says, "We already told her (my friend) that she is over her limit of referrals"...WHAT? How is that my fault? and second, my friend should get BONUS items. Are you kidding me? That should be the kind of customer you take care of. Im sure another dentist would appreciate someone continuously taking advantage of your referral plan. Isnt that the point? Just bad business practices. First appointment is a waste of time and they just keep rescheduling bits and pieces for new appointments. I can agree with other reviews that they want billable hours not happy customers. You will waste tons of time going to more and more appts with things that should be done in one and would be at another dentist. Other issues are that you cannot reschedule an appointment if you miss one.. well they didnt call with a reminder as they did for two previous appts so I missed one. They totally leave you hanging by not explaining what that even means. Am I no longer welcome there? thats the impression I got. When I called to ask what happens next I was told (rudely) they would call me back if someone cancels. Umm ok well never heard from them again for months, no reminder yet long past what should be 6 month cleaning so I guess I am no longer their patient and I will need to change my dentist with my insurance company. Too bad because I was happy but hate their reception/phone staff. Very rude and ruin what otherwise was a decent dental office.

The office is clean, everyone is friendly, and my teeth feel great every time I come in for a cleaning. On top of that, my appointments are always on time. What else could you ask for? SORRY FOR THE EDIT, BUT HAVE TO SAY THAT AFTER MANY YEARS AS A CLIENT I AM APPALLED AT THE TREATMENT I RECEIVED DURING MY VISIT THIS PAST WEEK. MY HYGIENIST IS THE BEST! THE OFFICE PERSONELL ARE RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. UPON MY ARRIVAL I WAS INFORMED IN AN ARGUMENTATIVE MANNER THAT I HAD NOT CONFIRMED MY APPOINTMENT TO WHICH I STATED THAT I HAD, BUT THAT I HAD ALSO RECEIVED 2 EMAILS,2VOICEMAILS AND 2 TEXT MESSAGES AND SINCE I HAD RESPONDED TO THE FIRST EMAIL I DIDNT FEEL IT NECESSARY TO RESPOND 6 MORE TIMES. I WAS TOLD IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS THAT I NEED TO RESPOND TO ALL OF THEM. THEN I WAS INFORMED BY MY HYGIENIST THAT THEY HAS ACTUALLY CANCELLED MY APPOINTMENT BUT SHE COULD STILL TAKE ME. UPON LEAVING I EXPRESSED MY DISPLEASURE WITH THE FACT THAT THEY CANCELLED MY APPOINTMENT WITHOUT INFORMING ME TO WHICH I WAS ONCE AGAIN GIVEN THE SPEECH ABOUT CONFIRMING MY APPOINTMENT. AT THIS POINT I STATED THAT THEIR NEW SYSTEM FOR CONFIRMATION IS A BIT OVER THE TOP AND THAT HAD MY HYGIENIST NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIT ME IN I WOULD HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A NEW DENTIST. I WAS TOLD THAT IF THAT WAS WHAT I WANTED IT WAS FINE AND THE DR WOULDNT CARE IF I DID. I HAVE BEEN A PATIENT FOR MANY YEARS AND HAVE NEVER EVEN BEEN LATE FOR ANY OF MY (UP TO 4 TIMES A YEAR) CLEANINGS AND CHECK UPS. TO TOP IT ALL OFF, I RECEIVED AND EMAIL AFTER ASKING ME TO RATE THEM TO WHICH I RESPONDED WITH PRETTY MUCH THIS SAME REVIEW AND THEY DIDNT POST IT. I GUESS THE WRITING IS ON THE WALL FOR ME.

We moved here and I was referred to this practice. I wish I could give a better review, as I thought the staff, hygienist, and two dentist I saw (Dr. Monie and Dr. Nowicki) were kind, unfortunately Im doing my review of the dental work I received by Dr. Nowicki. I saw Dr. Nowicki for a filling and to replace silver composites with the "tooth colored" filling. I was not experiencing any pain or discomfort until AFTER getting my teeth worked on by him. I couldnt put ANY food/pressure on the left side of my mouth. I returned 4 different times after he worked on my teeth, to try and figure out what the problem was. The last thing I was told is that I would need a root canal if the pain didnt go away. (Sounds like another review I just read) I decided my best option was to not use that side of my mouth for 3 months and see my dentist "back home". I ended up needing a crown, (much better than a root canal) and my constant pain (that wasnt there prior to getting my teeth worked on) instantly was alleviated! The biggest problem about the whole experience; however, is that my hometown dentist said that there was still decay left in my tooth that wasnt extracted before filling over. Thats just not acceptable. I wasnt going to do a review, but I was given a card by family dentistry and asked to do so. If it helps someone else not get poor dental work done, well then thats fantastic.

update: They did the refund quickly which I am very happy with. My hygienist Judy is very good and professional. I came here to complain too. My family has been to this place for two years. No complaints for the first year. But we became more and more dissappointed with this place since last year. First, I have experienced nobody taking my call forever and not returning my call even though I left messages. Once I need to reschedule my appointment but nobody ever called me back, good thing was my schedule changed and I was able to keep my appointment. So I did not mention it. Recently, my husband experienced insurance issues with them. They gave him false insurance benefits info first. When we found out with the insurance company the correct info and asked them to verify, nobody even cared to do the work, which caused my husband to have spent a trip on his dental appointment but did not get it done. It just seemed nobody there cared about their customers. If you look very carefully at the reviews here, most of the good ones are from a year ago and recently more and more negative reviews. I donot know what happened there, just hope their management team can notice their problem and improve it.
