Ive been the BMH many times over the years, for an array of reasons. The ER (or the "ED" as they call it) is always packed full of people all over the place. There are a few rooms, but every room that Ive seen has dual beds at least. Otherwise, youre sitting in a room with another person and a possible curtain divider, OR youre in the "hall," which is a somewhat fancier way to say they are leaving you in the aisle near the ED desk. My Mother went there a year or so ago for what was deemed food poison (by us), but they couldnt tell us that. Apparently, after running every test under the Sun, they found NOTHING. My Mother had been in terrible pain, to the point of altered mental status and lacking the ability to retain memories for portions of that night. The local FD ambulance grabbed her, and they were very helpful. They brought her in, and I visited the next day. The room she was in, which was in a wing in another part of the hospital, felt dirty. The hallways? Dirty. The whole feel of BMH? Dirty. But apparently the care were decent, since she didnt seem to complain. But Ive heard of worse stories - my cousins fiancee had some sort of blood clot or something. He was brought in and was found to have leukemia (I believe it was this), and he worsened rapidly. Before you knew, he went into cardiac arrest about two days into his stay. My cousin stated that the doctors didnt even use an defibrillator when he went into cardiac arrest. Rather, they used conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation. When he passed we all went to the hospital for support. I was there when the doctor and a nurse came into the main lobby to say what had happened. The nurse initially stated that he wasnt the primary nurse, but he answered what he could and was relatively compassionate and helpful. I look over at the doctor on the other side of the group and see that she was on her phone. When the nurse was done, the PARENTS of the deceased asked the doctor if she could clarify some information and maybe give some more insight. She looked up from her phone and blatantly said that she wasnt paying attention, and asked the parents what the nurse had said. My blood started to boil. How can you become a doctor with such a lack of compassion in such a field? These peoples poor son just passed (He was 24), and you cant give them 15 minutes of clarity? Disgusting, deplorable behavior. If anything happens to me, please, for the love of God, take me to Stony Brook or Mather hospital. Brookhaven Memorial Hospital = BMH = Bury Me Here.

I had the worst recovery ever. I am 65 years old, fell down steps. I fractured my face in different areas and needed plates and screws to repair it. The E.R. was on the ball and my plastic Surgeon (Dr. Ceccaro), I recommend. When they sent me to the fourth floor which was suppose to be a surgical recovery unit, it was a nightmare. The patient next to me had his wife ands kids visiting, they had no parental guidance, they went through my belongings and was all over the floor, they were crying and screaming. I called the nurse who told me they had a right to be there. I felt my head was in a vise and someone squeezing it, thought I was going to die. I complained to nursing supervisor, who did nothing. My Doctor came in my room later to check on me and I told him what happened. I should have kept my mouth shut because after that the retaliation began. No response to call bell for 9 minutes, I was given an ice cold bath, claiming I had a fever, they were in the hallway laughing, saying I was drunk when I fell. I wet the bed because I was scared to use the bell. In the morning, my nurse Rosa, who stayed with me before surgery took care of me. She washed me down, new night gown, cleaned and made my bed. She was my guardian angel. When they finally sent to the third floor, it was like a different hospital. Every one was compassionate, professional and made my day with a smile. When I got home , I made a complaint and had to call back to see what was being done. I was told they told me they were going for extra training and spoken too. She said ,"we took care of it, and rushed me off the phone. I gave it one star only because of the people on the third floor who made my stay better. DO NOT GO TO BROOKHAVEN HOSPITAL.

Dr.Mary Thomas a PSYCHIATRIST PRACTICING AT BROOKHAVEN. She is a friend and Crony of Hillary Clinton..my Aunt. Dr.Thomas is collusion with Ms.Clinton.Has been forcing healthy members of my family including myelf. To be locked into Brookhavens Psychward.Where we have been being falsely diagnosed with mental illnesses that we do not have. An attempt to discredit us.So that SHE can try to take over some assets .That were left to my family by my father. They currently have my 22 year old mentally healthy son locked in the Psych ward.UNABLE TO WEAR CLOTHING except a nightgown. FEEDING HIM PSYCHOTROPIC MEDS THAT ARE MAKING HIM SICK. Threatening him with court if he refuses. I had to retain a lawyer.Wait for a Court date. While my son continues to suffer the abuse and the humiliation of.Brookhavens staff and being locked up in a Psych ward against his will for no medical reason.Besides Clintons sadistic constant harassment of my family.I am her niece. I have contacted the NEW YORK STATE DEPT of HEALTH.Filed a complaint with them. Obtained a lawyer. Contacted HEALTH FIRST.My sons Health Insurance co.After explaining to HEALTH FIRST.What Brookhaven and Dr.Thomas have been doing to my son. They flagged the claim .Are going to refuse to pay this claim.Based on FRAUD. Brookhaven is a corrupt hospital.Where i have seen people i know die suspiciously. I will never trust Brookhaven with my families health ever again.

I have multiple bad experiences with this hospitals doctors. 1. I went here with a very bad flu. I couldnt walk at one point so my family finally talked me into going to the hospital after a week on the couch and collapsing. I had gone to my own dr that week when I wasnt feeling too awful and was awaiting results for a UTI. I went to the hospital and she asked me questions that took a total of 10 seconds and even though my answers to all of them indicated no uti she said its a uti. The next day my Drs results came in negative for a uti. Turns out it was a virus. Close to 1500 in hospital bills for nothing but 10 seconds of horrible care with a doctor who doesnt listen. 2. My grandfather was mistreated here, suffered horrible bed sores and ultimately died. We rarely ever saw the dr. I will say the ER nurses were wonderful, But not the nurses on the floor, neglectful. DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONES HERE! I have always brought my children to Stonybrook or even river head and got great care and attention.
