Due to an unfortunate incident in my life I turned to Unity Health Chemical Dependency center in Greece for therapy and help. The staff at the front desk was welcoming and helpful but that was the high point from my experience there. From the initial evaluation to the group therapy sessions everything seemed rushed and they were trying to get as many people in the groups for counseling as possible, regardless of their situation or background (this is a for profit entity after all). The counselors are very young, right out of college and very inexperienced. Multiple times throughout my sessions here my counselor had to check with her supervisor, was not sure how to handle situations and give meaningful feedback. While I have nothing against the younger counselors, this is NOT the place nor time in your life you want some who is this inexperience and inept giving you help and advice. Many other group members noticed this as well and took advantage by creating many distractions to get us off topic and focus less on helping us. I strongly encourage anyone one looking for alcohol abuse or addiction issues to look elsewhere for treatment. The counselor recommended addiction therapy which meets 3 nights a week for 3 hours each night. I sought a second opinion in which I was warned of the ramifications I will face due to dropping out of the recommended "treatment". The recommendation of a different counselor was no treatment AT ALL. I cannot believe how huge of a waste of money and time this place was. SECOND to Michael Schneider: I was forced to get evaluated, this place was recommended unfortunately and due to the lack of experience and fully inept counselor misdiagnosis led me down a path of completely wasted time and resources. Now, this may not be the case for everyone, but why risk it? Every counselor I came in contact with was a year or two our of college with extremely limited experience. One of the counselors I found out later actually works as a bartender part time. Can anyone tell me how that works? An alcohol abuse counselor who is preaching abstinence is bar tending?? This place is so backwards and money hungry it still upsets me that so many people are still being taken advantaged of.

This place is awful. During my two week stay there, nineteen groups were cancelled resulting in a majority of my time being spent sitting on my ass. The place is so disorganized and chaotic no one in charge seems to ever truly know whats going on and they all pass the buck telling you to talk to such and such with no one taking any responsibility for anything. One of the techs who ran a group actually referred to addiction as a weakness and a choice, while another one took to just straight up yelling at everyone for having the audacity to question her. I met with my own councilor there a total of twice, during evaluation and during my discharge, as he could never seem to make time for me. I couldnt help but feel as if I was an annoyance and just another check to any and all of the inexperienced staff. I truly wish I could give this place less than one star as it really deserves none. If youre serious about your recovery I highly recommend anywhere else but here.

FIRST.. To Williams Williams. If another counselor said you dont need treatment thats all fine, but if that were the case why would you even go in the first place? You are complaining about the treatment they give when you dont even want it. Maybe thats why you didnt like it. Or maybe you were court ordered, who knows, but dont complain about the treatment and then close by saying you dont need it. NOW.. This place helped me a lot.

Husband died of heroin overdose,after freedom house was recommended,nobody made sure that he got there. Not unitys fault. But beware addiction can make somebody that you thought you knew. Totally different. He said his therapist Chelsea was awesome. Ive seen husband try to turn his life around since working with Chelsea.in this case his addiction won.he wont be forgotten (Jon r)

They saved my life. If youre serious about getting clean then this is the place as long as you are okay being disgusted sometimes by people because it will happen. Other than that its wonderful please get clean it really gets better. ❤️❤️
